3. Hi peeps Just after some advice on an employer I have been working for , for almost a year. I have only ever received 1 superannuation payment in the last 11 months and should have had 2 more by now. When I contacted them they gave me excuse after excuse so I lodged a complaint with the ATO. ( which they are looking in to) Today all employees received an email stating that they are re-financing several areas of the business due to moving to a nice new HQ and they will pay our super but don't know when !!!!!!! so basically they are using all their employees superannuation money to fund a new project !!!!!! would you call that theft??????? Omg!! anyone have any professional advice or has anyone been through similar????:arghh:
4. Thanks everyone- I just applied on line for both our certs and its cost 63 pounds to have them fast tracked and delivery to Australia.
5. Yes all we have is the small one and nothing else- just applying online and it doesn't give an option to ask for a Long form ? birth cert???? not sure I'm going to get the right thing and not just a duplicate of what I already have
6. Thanks guys for your help- submitted normal birth cert when we applied for PR in 2014 and all was good( that's why I'm asking the question as we never needed it before)
7. My hubby and I have just applied for Citizenship ( currently on a PR visa in Queensland) and have sent all the documents required but immigration are not happy with our birth certs we sent ( born in the 70's). They are saying we have provided a short/extract certificate. It doesn't have our parents names on there and its not apparently considered a full UK birth certificate!!!! but this is all we have and have ever had. Has anyone gone through this drama and can offer any advice please ?

10. Hi there cant really help with childcare as my son is 10 so at school. I think there all much of a muchness and depending on the type of Visa your on you may be able to claim back some of the childcare costs at tax time. If you look on realestate.com and type in 4703 in the area code it will bring up loads of rental houses. Thanks a million for info on Yeppoon Miller. Are childcare cost the same as Rockhampton? There doesn't seem to be very many rental properties in Yeppoon?? We are hoping for next summer (UK) but may be sooner depending on the job. Anyone offer advice on prospects for a carpenter Rockhampton area??
11. Hi everyone To cut a long story short, we have rented out our house in the UK for the last 3.5 years and had 2 different tenants in that time. We had an estate agent to manage the house on our behalf. So a few months ago our latest tenant emailed us to give us a months notice that they were leaving. This was good as we were planning to sell the house and we were returning to the UK for a holiday so the timing was good as it meant we could see the house just after the tenants moved out and before it went on the market for sale. I was horrified at the damage to the house and the rubbish and furniture that was left and how unclean it was!!!! The agent came the next day to do a check out walk round with me and by god I was ready for him !!! I was disgusted at what I saw!!!! and went through everything with him. We had some of our furniture stolen and we had to hire a large skip to dispose of the junk that was left by the tenant!!! so we are out of pocket by this Our estate agent took the tenant to arbitration for damage etc to the house through the DPS and it took 3 months and then the tenant emailed us to say thanks for getting her deposit back !!!!! what the hell!!!!( seems like the agent had insufficient evidence to blame her)!!!!!!!!!!!! I am speechless as she has now got away with it all but it seems as though the first tenant did some damage too and the estate agent didn't do their job properly when she left the house !!!! we have never seen any pics from this !!!!! so both tenants have lived in my house and got away with causing lots of damage and the agent just doesn't care and just seems to take the management fee and not give two hoots!!! The agent is unaware that the last tenant has emailed us to give us the outcome that they have their full deposit back and we have emailed them to ask for an update..and 2 weeks later we still have had no reply from any of them in the office!!!! Has anyone been through similar and sued the estate agent or taken them to a small claims court??? To annoy me more we trusted them to sell our house which they did on the first day of it going on the market and i'm thinking they will say it was sold as seen but its just not fair that people can get away with this !!!!:arghh::cry:
12. Hi there- how old are your kids? there are many schools here in Yeppoon....private catholic and public...lots of at home day care places and after school clubs. have a look on realestate.com.au and type in 4703 in the search tool...that will show you all the houses available in Yeppoon and surrounding areas. We live 20 mins from the centre of Yeppoon right on the beach. Its a lovely seaside town- there is some work being done on the beachfront to create a Foreshore which is a an open air splash areas for kids.....it will be finished at Christmas( just in time for the summer sun) There is a fab wildlife park called Cooberrie park ( just 10 mins out of Yeppoon) where you can stroke kangaroos and cuddle a koala etc.....its run by a lovely couple from Sheffield, and then there's a crocodile farm which you do a tour of- its fab and at the end of the tour you get to hold a baby croc....- this is called Koorana croc farm....10 mins from Yeppoon. There is Capricorn caves- 35 mins from Yeppoon which is great to see. There is mostly a breeze in Yeppoon as its a coastal town and quite a few houses have a pool ( which is fab for kids) we have one and we use it from Oct- April. Rents can vary quite a bit depending on area but I can certainely advise you where to stay away from etc For example we rent our house for $525 ( about £240) pw- and this gives us a 5 yr old 5 bed house with a pool 2 mins walk to the beach in a nice estate. Petrol is very reasonable here at the moment unleaded is $1.28 per litre- £ 0.55p Per litre) cars are expensive to buy over here...so be prepared.... groceries are expensive too...there are 2 main supermarkets in Yeppoon.....meat, cheese, cereal I think is dear compared to the UK. Hope this helps....when are you thinking of coming over?
13. I live in regional Queensland ( 8 hours drive from the nearest Ikea) and have no plans to go.....we have shipped 2 chairs and 3 small coffee tables
14. its still in boxes though... im a born worrier...lol
15. Hi There We are from the UK and live in Yeppoon ( been in OZ for 3.5 years). my hubby works in Rockhampton - its a 35 minutes nice easy commute everyday for him and we really like it here....no stupid motorways too...lol...feel free to message me if you would like to chat more. Rocky is VERY hot in summer but Yeppoon is great and we are a few degrees cooler than Rocky....with beautiful beaches.
16. Hi peeps Just after some advice....I got some new Ikea furniture that is going to be shipped to Australia amongst other stuff that's old from the UK and im not sure if I should declare it as new or should I risk it???? what exactly are the costs if I do declare it ??? thanks:arghh:
17. Hi everyone Just after some advice...has anyone had issues trying to claim compensation from Cathay Pacific??? they lost my case for 2 days after arriving for a holiday back to the UK and then when it eventually showed up 2 days later at 10pm it was damaged and handle ripped off......I submitted receipts for emergency items and now all they want to offer me is $100 !!!!! I think its a bit rude when I spent $5000 on 3 flights with them !!!!! thanks :arghh:
18. Hi What is the most cost effective way to move a reasonable amount of money to Oz? Thanks
19. Hi I'm currently selling my old residential home in the uk. I would be looking to bring the money over to an Australian bank account. What is the position around capital gains tax both in the uk and Australia. I bought the property with my wife in 2003 for £182k and have spent approx. £60k on improvements. It will sell for £300k. It has been rented since we moved over in Feb 2012. Will I have any liability in either country? Thanks
20.

Hi there- thanks for your message. If you ever plan to come to Yeppoon for the day I'd like to meet up with you....we actually live in Mulambin....right near the beach.....

21. we have been on OZ for 3 years and are going back to the UK for a holiday in June ( we haven't been back since we emigrated), we have 3 houses in the UK one is our own house and the other 2 are investments from 10 yrs ago . When we go back we are planning on having a look at all 3 of them and deciding what to do as we have now got our permanent residency and love living in OZ so no plans to return back to the UK to live. We have stuff in the attic space which we will arrange to ship over to OZ now we are settled. Renting was the right thing to do for us to see if we liked it in OZ but we have 3 houses, but all that could change in June...lol Good luck on the move....
22. Hi All Were are going to the UK for a holiday in a few months time with Cathay Pacific and was wondering on our return trip we are flying back from Manchester - Brisbane via Hong Kong......what are our allowances( cigarettes, perfume and booze )and is it just better to get it in Hong Kong( cheaper)????? Thanks peeps
23. Hi PK12 we have recently moved to Yeppoon from Tannum sands ( 2 hours away) and it is a lovely place to live( moved from Manchester UK in 2012). My Husband works in Rockhampton and really doesn't mind the 30 mins commute as there are short cuts to get you to Rocky quicker. But the choice is yours in the end......the sea breeze is great ( you wont get that in Rocky) and its stinking hot in Spring/summer and you will really need a pool to cool off in !!! It really depends on what side of Rocky you work to how long it will take you to get there from Yeppoon and also which side of Yeppoon you would like to live in. The rental market is definitely a renters market and there are lots of houses to choose from which you can make an offer for. Maybe if you stay in Rocky for a few days when you 1st arrive here and then you can see what areas you like etc....if you need anymore help get in touch.
