cutchibear
Hello all! My husband and I have our permanent residency visas and are hoping to move to WA in the next 12 months...it's all we talk/think about! Just in the process of drawing up a comparison spreadsheet and wondered if anyone could advise on the cost of council and road tax in Oz - if there is any? Seem to find mixed feedback on the internet/forums. Much appreciated! xx
moirclan
dont have council tax we have rates but thats the responsibility of the owner of a house , we have car rego ? i suppose if you put $500 in for the year it will be near the mark maybe slightly above or below depending on the car

Bloody sa grumble grumble grumble. Yep. It is a fixed fee which includes 3rd party insurance and I think I pay about $470 a year.
Ausborn
Actual rego for the cars which is the same as road tax in the uk is roughly the same price. It's the 3rd party insurance which is mandatory with car registration here that bumps the prices up. A new 4 cylinder barina just cost $370 I think with Coles car insurance for 12 months. Found them the cheapest.
