  1. Hi all, Today we had our son's medical completed for his child 101 visa. We were initially told his visa could take 8-12 months to be granted - we applied in August 2014. Has anyone else had experience of applying for the child 101 visa recently and could let us know how long the process took? How long after the medical until the visa was granted? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
  2. SOOO jealous of you all who are already there or going pretty soon! Will be another 12 months for us - it can't come quick enough!
  3. thanks anyway guys! We do like the idea of doing it all through them as means they'll pick our beloved boy up too and get him settled!
  4. Great to hear Denni! Where abouts in WA are you? Keep this posts coming....keeps those of us still in snowy UK motivated to get there asap!!! xx
  5. Hi everyone - i posted this on the PETS form yesterday but didn't get any replies so thought i would try it here! Thanks in advance! Hello all, We are looking into the prices of taking our beloved doggie over to Oz with us...there's no question about it he's coming down under with us! Just wondering if any of you who have already taken your dog over could advise on a couple of costs. We've been quoted two prices for two different packages and there is approx £1K difference in them. I wondered how much it would be for the following things if we were to organise it ourself...so whether it would be cheaper this way, or if it just makes sense to get the pet transfer company to do it all....any help would be much appreciated! * Application and payment for import licenses from Australian authorities * RNATT declaration completion * All veterinary fees for blood samples to be taken within 30 days of the flight (including sampling fees and lab test fees – we will send your vets notes and advise on the best dates for you to take Barney to the vets * Lab fees for veterinary testing *Required Tick and Tapeworm treatments *Completion of Part A of the DEFRA paperwork including pre travel veterinary health examination THANKS!!

  8. Hello all! My husband and I have our permanent residency visas and are hoping to move to WA in the next 12 months...it's all we talk/think about! Just in the process of drawing up a comparison spreadsheet and wondered if anyone could advise on the cost of council and road tax in Oz - if there is any? Seem to find mixed feedback on the internet/forums. Much appreciated! xx
  9. wow you must be so excited Rohit - we can't wait to get over there for good, but got to sell our house first thanks for the info kimanda - shall look into that
  10. wowsers, this all sounds amazing and exactly what we are dreaming of. I can't wait to visit in December to check everything out. We know that once we've been for our trip, we'll be more eager than ever to get out there for good!
  11. Hi all, I previously posted this in the WA forum but not had any response, so thought i would try again here! My husband and I are coming to Perth in December (7th - 16th) to activate our permanent residency visas. We can't wait. We want to spend the trip meeting with local recruitment agencies, real estate agents and looking around local areas in WA. Any advice on companies to contact and/or suburbs to visit it would be greatly appreciated. We are staying with some contacts in Dalkeith for the majority of our trip but would like a couple of days of relaxation....any suggestions of a nice hotel or similar near the beach/someone pretty would be most welcomed! We look forward to hearing from you WA-ers! Lx

  13. We have our WA SS visas so are all set to go. We initially wanted to go within the 12 months but decided to be a bit more realistic and take our time sorting things out over here first. So we're off to Perth in December to activate our visas and then plan to move 18 - 24 months after that. We are getting our house up for sale now as that can take a while and figure we can just rent in the meantime. We'll only book our flights once everything is in place and nothing to hold us back!!
  14. totally agree with the above comments, we too considered leaving our adorable boxer Barney behind....but as I watch him snuggled up on the sofa, we know that if we didn't take him, our big exciting move down under would be dampened by having to give him up. He is one of the family, and I also know how much he will enjoy leaving out there and with much more 'outside' time...I'm sure we'll all find somewhere to rent with our adorable pooches!! I've just had a quick look a real estate in WA and lists a large number that will allow pets fingers crossed!
  15. Hello all! My husband and I are coming to Perth at the beginning of December to activate our VISAs...we can't wait! We've both been to Oz before but never to WA. Found a wonderful little B&B by Coogee Beach which we think is going to be a great base to travel and discover WA towns we may want to make our home one day! Looking at checking out Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandaruh, Joondalup, Bunbury possibly, any suggestions of good towns to visit? Our plans at the minute are to get over there for good within 3 years, but i have a feeling after this trip we will want to get there even sooner!! Lx:cute:
