AndrewRomford
We moved from London to Melbourne in September 2012. 1. Dog safely imported & out of quarantine 2. Vehicle imported and on the road 3. Furniture & household all arrived safely 4. Working in the city 5. Easily found a rental friendly to pets I feel very fortunatey indeed. We have had a couple of lovely days on uncrowded beaches, drives in the Yarra Valley. As they say...Keep Calm and Carry on.....
starlight7
Good that things worked out and I really think that is the norm for most. Often the ones we hear about here are posting simply because things didn't go smoothly and they need a bit of moral support.

PomCat
Welcome to this wonderful place, Andrew. I am from Romford and emigrated a long time ago. I can't speak highly enough of Australia. I think the hardest thing to overcome is the family ties, especially on the female partner's side. However I do believe that you only get out of life what you put in and this is a country that has plenty of opportunities. I just can't get my head around supporting the Aussies in cricket though! Lol. In what suburb did you end renting?

whatsitallabout
Hi Andrew, Glad you have settled in to Melbourne! Been here nearly 4 years & can honestly say we love it! Wasn't easy to start with. I also grew up around the East London area, lived in East Ham, Barking Dagenham & had many nights out in Romford. Going back next year for a visit & cant wait to go to Romford market & have my beloved Pie & Mash, boy do I miss that!!!
