Medicals looming => Panic setting in!

  1. Hypothyroidism
  2. Hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels) - possibly due to benign pituitary adenoma
  3. Rotundity (hate the O-word and hoping this one will catch on world-wide)

Each by themselves are not an issue (methinks). But, I worry that a whole bouquet of endocrine disorders might raise a stink at DIAC.

So, will the above cause issues during Medicals WHEN I 'fess up??

1 and 2 are well under control - a pill each every day.

3 - gymming but hard going due to 1 and 2.

All replies, whether informative or encouraging, highly appreciated.

What i remember of our day (and i mean a day) doing the meds and the waiting before hand.

My blood pressure went through the roof at one stage just sitting around listening to screaming kids and parents who lacked parental control, made my blood boil.

We all passed but like i said i got very angry waiting so long in the heat with no drinks, no wonder i had to have a heart scan just to be sure lol.

All ok, just the day got to me i suppose - good luck hope yours is nothing like ours.

Just be honest, and you'll be fiiiiine

In order to know what to expect, check out the advice to panel doctors doc on immi.gov.au (http://www.immi.gov.au/gateways/panel_doctors/conducting_medicals/instructions/) :it explains rotundity - a certain BMI (> 40: well into the rotundity range) and they may well send you for further tests.

Oh - and my OH has prolactinoma + adenoma and passed: the doc didn't bat an eyelid.

Good luck! It'll be over before you know it! x

From what I have read from other "Rotundas" who have had their medicals, the Docs only seemed to have concerns if it directly affects your health.

From a fellow Rotunda , wishing you the Best of Luck. Let us all know how you got on.

If you are on medication and your condition is controlled then you won't have a problem. Just make sure you take all doctors/specialist reports with you to prove that your conditions are stable and what medications your taking. IF you go empty handed they with ask for the proof or further test which you want to avoid. Be prepared and youll be fine.

Good luck with the weight loss, the more the better before your meds! :emoticon_doctor_sna

No laughing matter, Playghirl. <Forbidding look> I am dead serious.

PaulandDeb,

I did see a few other posts earlier where someone's BP went through the roof at the doc's. So you are not alone. And all that seemed hilarious when my meds were months away. With all this tension, you'd think the weight would just fall off!

anniefrombath,

Thanks a ton! You made me feel much better! 40 is some way off, thank God! And if your OH was ok, hopefully I should be too.

Candygirl,

Rotunda!

Will definitely come back and let yáll know.

Eng32,

Thanks. I have all my tests so far in place with results showing steady improvement. I'm also in touch with my specialist trying to get a report with a prognosis for the next few years. Hopefully I'll have things in place soon.

All you guys,

Thanks for all your replies. I definitely feel soooo much better now! Am just gonna be honest, prepared and hopefully calm when I go in.

I saw a 10th Jan allocation! So any day now (I hope)!

Will let you know how it went.

MY OH is a rotunda .............. and he got through, you will be fine, the DR did tell him off a little though about his weight .... you will be fine, don´t worry ...............

As for your BP you may be amazed ...... My MIL checked mine just before we left for OH to have his medical and I honestly thought that we would both have BP through the roof, but mine was low and his was normal, in fact my MIL actually said ´she´s dead´.....

Let us know how you get on ............... and please don´t worry too much, say´s she who talked about it for weeks and worried like mad
