  1. Okay great - I thought as much. There are no conditions listed on his Visa Grant Letter or VEVO so at least we have the option of him arriving without me (hopefully we don't need this back up plan though!) Thanks so much for your reply to what feels like an obvious question - it is very helpful to get clarification on my understanding of it.
  2. Hello! My partner needs to activate his 100 partner visa before 5th February 2021. We are planning to head to Perth in January 2021 (fingers crossed no issues with flights, otherwise we will have to request an exemption for missing the Initial Entry Date - but that's a stress for another time!). My question is in relation to the "Visa Condition - 8502 - Not arrive before person specified in visa". If this was relevant to his visa would it be clearly stated on his Visa Grant letter? There is a chance I may not be able to head over with him in January (worse case scenario!) so I wanted to make sure that if that were to happen it would not invalidate his visa. Now I assume it would be obvious if the condition was attached to the visa, as far as I can tell it's not.... but to put my mind at ease (and avoid a potential life changing mistake!) I wanted to ask the question on here in case this condition was listed elsewhere and I have missed it. Thank you!
  3. Thanks @<3 Chips! The logical and realistic part of me 100% knows that you are both correct @paulhand and @Marisawright. It just sucks to feel so powerless and I feel by calling I will have the teeniest bit of control even though I know that is not the case at all because as you say whatever they tell me wont be official anyway! I will listen to your advice and just ride it out, and deal with getting an exemption after the fact if it comes to it. My partner is constantly telling me to chill and relax and it will be fine, I should probably listen to him too This visa process has honestly driven me mad, the things we do for love eh!!
  4. Hiya, In a similar boat here. My partners 100 visa needs to be activated by early Feb. Our initial plans were to head to Perth in September but we postponed due to everything going on with the pandemic – after all priority should be going to those with more compassionate reasons. However we still need to get there! Naively hoping that flight caps etc will ease by the end of the year and intend to book flights for January 2021. Now I am panicking though at the thought of booking for Jan and our flight being cancelled and missing the Initial Entry Date. I have been trying to find out if the date can be extended and this forum post has been the most helpful of what I have found - albeit it looks like we cannot get any 100% clarification. I also worry that if we miss the date they wont be lenient because technically we could try and get a flight this year. Gahh so stressful! I have tried to contact Home Affairs on +61 2 6196 0196 which is the number on this link https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/contact-us/telephone/outside-australia but just get a dial tone – this could be to do with my phone and not the number though. Just to check though @<3 Chips, @Elizabetty and @megan987 is this the same number you called or if not what number did you contact? I doubt I will get a different answer if I do get through to someone but who knows!!
  5. Thanks for your response @Quoll Although the situations are not exactly the same it is good to get an idea of how long others have taken. I am just really hoping that things start picking up and covid hasn't extended the timelines toooo long!
  6. Hey All! Just wondering for those of you who are not originally from Britain and where you or your partner obtained British citizenship, how long did it take? I am talking pre-COVID times as well as anyone who has applied during COVID. It says it usually takes up to 6 months plus then you have to book in for your ceremony. Obviously with COVID there is a high chance the timeline could be longer, but I am just trying to get an idea of it all. I have my Life in the UK test booked for early August and we plan to head back to Aus in January 2021 (my partner needs to be there by Feb 2021). Ideally I want to get my British citizenship before then (I am eligible, just need to pass the Life in the UK test). I know we are cutting things reeeaaallly fine but I was only eligible to apply in May 2020 but didn't make the moves to do so as the original plan was to head to Aus in June 2020... for obvious reasons that has been delayed! I stumbled across the priority service for visas / citizenship only recently but that is currently suspended. I don't know whether to take my chances and wait for this to be up and running again, or apply as soon as I have passed my test (hopefully first go!!!). If anyone has any insight I would be grateful!
  7. Almost 11 months and I am happy to say we received our golden emails!!! Both the 309 and 100 granted yesterday. Enter within 1 year of the grant, not the medicals or police certs. So relieved!! Obviously crazy excited and happy - cannot wait to see family and friends again in Aus, and meet the new nieces and nephews. Still a bit of mixed emotions though as we do love our life in the UK, and will miss our family and friends here like mad. But it is our time to start our new adventures together and I can't wait!
  8. @mppc ah so happy for you!! Such awesome news, been waiting for you to post this! It really was cutting it fine wasn't it, at least now you can have a nice holiday in the UK without the stress of not knowing when you are able to go back to Aus! And congrats on your 820 @CEP Our application is sitting at further assessment, uploaded all the RFI docs on 1st Jan. Hoping it wont be too much longer from here but who knows!!!
  9. Ah my emotions right now... It's not even an approval, but we have had an RFI. They are requesting evidence of the length of our relationship for at least 3 years, in particular financial and household. We had provided loooadss of evidence on this already, but I guess its back to looking it over and re-submitting, seeing if we can find anything extra to add. The other RFI is for evidence of my (the sponsor) Italian citizenship - I have dual Aussie and Italian citizenship (so luckily have been able to be with my partner in England whilst we wait!). This one I think will be trickier as all I have is my Italian passport and they said they need more than that. So recruiting my dad to get any evidence he can find (his birth certificate, my Italian grandparents birth certificates, proof of their aussie citizenship etc). Not exactly sure what I need ! But hopefully I can gather enough / the right evidence in the 28 day time limit! Eeeeeek. Man my heart is beating so fast, I am at work and have downed tools because I cannot concentrate. And this is just for an RFI ! I will be a mess if/when the visa finally gets approved. It's my work Christmas party tonight and I had planned on it being a quiet one, but I need a drink (or 5) to calm my nerves!!
  10. Ours is the opposite way around. I am the sponsor and mine shows as 'submitted' and my partner is the applicant as his shows as 'received' And yes the waiting is ridiculous!!
  11. Easier said than done but try not to be too disheartened @mppc. Just take it as a positive that they are working on it, and hopefully your visa approval will soon follow!
  12. Wooooops I am losing track too!! But that's even better then - less in the queue and you guys can relax and start that next chapter! Haha eyeing them all up! As long as they looked busy sorting out grants
  13. Awesome news @Scotmeetssyd Hopefully this is the start of this weeks approvals for this forum with @mppc and @Maricota being next - looks like you all applied in the same week end of Jan? Aaaaand I am hoping it then continues with Feb and March approvals
  14. Woohooo congrats @mhcornwall. Approvals seem to finally be flowing again! Hopefully it continues. Fingers crossed all the 2018 applicants hear soon! As well as the rest of us of course
  15. Ah yes, now that @dasuw has mentioned it I remember seeing that there are actually a few different locations other than Knightsbridge that do the medicals. We didn't look into these too much due to Knightsbridge being much closer for us. Just found the link which advises of the different locations. The cost may vary at each one, but you just need to make sure you get the Full Medical, HIV Blood Test and Chest X-Ray https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/contact-us/offices-and-locations/list
  16. When you apply for the visa in the first instance you are actually applying for both the temporary and permanent visa together, so you would need the full permanent application medical for £320
  17. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/partner-offshore/provisional-309#HowTo I thought you did need separate immi accounts, but to be honest I cannot say if this is 100% the case. If you look on the immi website in the above link it does say you can use your partners / the applicants immi account or create your own as the sponsor. So I assume by this wording then maybe it does mean it is okay to leave it as you have it.... Though please don't take my word for it! I am just a fellow sponsor muddling my way through trying to make sense of it all I am sure there would be many people who did everything under the one account previously, particularly as the information on how to complete the application as a whole can be a bit ambiguous. It doesn't prompt you to create a separate account as a sponsor and do the online sponsor application. I did it based on advice I took from endless reading of forums advising to do so when we applied for the visa. With the new stricter rules of sponsors having to be approved first though I wouldn't be surprised if this is what needs to be done going forward or even what they expect of people now even if not properly instructed that it is the case... Maybe it will be that if it is required you will get an RFI requesting for it to be completed. For me I figured I would rather create my own account and do the sponsor application that way rather than take a risk of not doing it. If anyone else has experience or thoughts on this it will be interesting to get your understanding of it
  18. We have 2 separate IMMI accounts. All evidence and attachments etc are upload on my partners account (the applicant). The bulk is uploaded under his name/tab on his account, and any documents specific to me only (my birth certificate, police clearance etc) is uploaded under my name/tab (the sponsor). I have asked this question before and had the advice that it is okay to upload evidence this way. However I still think you need to have separate IMMI accounts. You use the TRN (reference number) from the applicants account to link to the sponsors account. And then as the sponsor you have to complete the online application - Sponsorship for a partner to migrate to Australia (equivalent to form 40sp I think, but online not an actual form?). This is another series of questions, similar to what would have been answered when the applicant created their account but obviously this time relating to the sponsor instead. Essentially it is the sponsor's application.. Someone with more knowledge feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but that is my understanding of it!
  19. Congrats to those who have recently had their grants come through! Definitely positive to see approvals rolling in and gets me more excited each day... Hopefully the last few 2018-ers on this topic listing will get theirs soon! Judging by trends I still have a few months wait (I applied in March 2019)... but I still cant help logging in and checking daily! This whole process is a great test of patience!
  20. https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/transferring-your-overseas-licence.asp This link should be helpful when it comes to transferring your overseas licence to a WA licence. If you hold a permanent visa you can drive on your overseas licence for up to 3 months, and then you would need to have it transferred to a WA licence. I am not sure if this is the same in your scenario, being a dual UK/NZ citizen with a UK licence. If you wanted to be certain you could contact the Department of Transport for WA directly, (there is an option for online enquiry on their website under Licencing -> About Us & Contacts) but I presume it should be simple enough to transfer it over.
  21. Hi Lucy - which airline did you email that gave you this response? I am hoping it is Singapore as they seem to do the cheapest one way flights London to Perth
  22. Another option to consider is the Youth Mobility Scheme visa (Tier 5). BUT! This is not a permanent visa, only temporary. So it is not the one to do if you plan on starting a family / buying a house right away. However it could be a good stepping stone, to see whether England is the place you do actually want to settle, before you go down the route of a more in depth visa.. According to the gov.uk website you can apply for this visa if you meet the following:- want to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years are aged 18 to 30 have £1,890 in savings have certain types of British Nationality or are from certain countries (Australia is on this list) meet the other eligibility requirements Just thought I would throw another option out there, depending on if you meet the requirements for it as well as if it would be suitable in relation to how soon you want to properly settle :) Also, if you decided to go this route you would have to look into it properly yourself. It says you cannot extend your stay, but I presume if you like it and decided to apply for a partner visa for example, you may then get put on a bridging visa like they do in Australia... though I do not know for sure!!
  23. Hi All! Firstly congrats @ZoeHoulding on your visa approval. I know you have been waiting a while! I am a newbie here but I have read through this entire thread to get an idea of what I can expect (a little sad I know!). You definitely feel the highs and lows of everyone's experiences ! Judging from what lots of people have said on here the approvals tend to take between 6-9 months.... hoping ours is the same! We applied for our 309/100 visa on March 11th 2019 from London. I am actually the Aussie, my partner is English. We met in London at work whilst I was over on a working holiday, we then travelled together for a few months around Europe. He came to Aus on a WHV for a year to live with me, when it was up I followed him back to London. Been here almost 5 years now, no kids (yet!) but we did get engaged Christmas 2017 (though we would rather apply for this visa than the PMV 300). So I am hoping we have a straightforward case, but who knows!! You cannot be sure with anything during this process! All I know is it is going to be a looooooong few months of logging into our Immi account constantly, reading all of the relevant threads on pomsinoz and other sites, and thinking about visa and Aus related things every other second. This thread is great though, it helps seeing when others applied and when their visa's are granted to kinda get an idea of what to expect for ourselves. Keeps the sanity in check just a little! Look forward to seeing more posts come through from those with their golden emails x
