  1. Hi all, I have a strange dilemma about my visa subclass 100 myself and my son were granted from offshore. My wife is an OZ citizen. The initial entry date of our visa is due to expire at the beginning of December 2020. All our flights we had booked this year have been cancelled by the airline due to the ongoing covid situation. I can prove that with cancellation certs issues by the airline. Technically, we still have some time left but when I called the airline to rebook after the last cancellation , they explained to me that the OZ government would only allow people to fly to australia for "emergencies".The airlines are told to enforce that policy and they need to actually engage with the OZ goverment before allowing a passenger on a flight. As "emergency" they have 3 categories that fit into it: 1. OZ citizen going back for medical emergency 2. OZ citizen stuck abroad with no means to support himself/herself 3. Family member stuck abroad with a child to care for in OZ. Clearly, (and rightfully so) our partner visa activation doesn't fit into any of that so I have no hope to make it to OZ by the IED. On the same line, it's clear that this is totally out of my hands and it's the australian government that has set this priorities. The Department of Home Affairs have been pretty generic up to now when i enquired. According to them the message is that there is absolutely no leeway in postponing the initial entry date. is anyone in the same situation as myself and how did they handle it? I would be interested to know if anyone got an extension to their IED based on the current Covid situation and how they went about getting one. Thank you very much to all
  2. Hi all, I applied for my partner visa on February 1st, 2019 and now would like to apply for my permanent visa subclass 100. I know usually 2 years should have passed since i applied for 309 to be eligible for 100 but I am currently enrolled in a university and until I have the subclass 100, I have to pay the International fee. If there is a way for me to apply for my subclass 100 permanent visa just a few months earlier, I could make it just in time to enrol as a domestic student next year. So, does anyone know if I have a compelling enough reason and how to apply for Subclass 100 just a few months earlier than 2 years? If I try to lodge the online application, it asks if it has been 2 years since I applied for subclass 309 visa, so I have to select No, which then prevents the application from being sent through. Would it be a good idea to send in the paper application instead to see if that would be accepted?
  3. Is anyone else in middle of their subclass 100 assessment? We submitted ours last month, June 2018. Current wait time is ridiculous - 23 to 32 months!! Can we all share experience? Thank you!
  4. Hi all, Fairly specific question but I think one that should apply to a lot of people. We're compiling documents for my Partner visa application (off-shore) and are finding that a lot of our evidence of joint cultural or social activities are tickets with only one of our names on. With no photos of us at some of the events, there's no real proof that the other one went! Is there any point in us including this sort of thing or will it be ignored? Thanks in advance!
  5. Husband is Australian and has been over here for over ten years, we've been married 7 years, together longer, have two children. We're looking to move over there and I know I'd need to apply for the partner visa, subclass 100 I think. Is it reasonable to do this ourselves or do you really need to have an immigration agent help you? Is there an 'idiots guide to visa application' somewhere that will talk me through it? I have a million questions, it seems very scary and daunting at the moment. Thanks.
  6. Hi all, I've reached what will hopefully be the final hurdle with my partner visa, having submitted the second part of my partner visa application (Subclass 100) However I have received a Request for Further Information in support of my application. My Case Officer has asked me to supply the following:- Intention to reside in Australia. Please provide evidence to demonstrate your intention to reside in Australia on a permanent basis. Has anyone any ideas of what to provide to demonstrate the above? , apart of submitting a personal declaration of my intention to reside in Australia . Cheers Steve

Questions re: my granted Spouse Visa

About 11 months ago, I was granted a permanent residency visa (Type of visa: sponsorship by partner/spouse subclass 100) I'm due to enter Australia next week for a 3 week holiday, so that I can activate the visa before my medical and police reports expire, it will then last for another 4yrs 2mnths. Currently with the exchange rate at an all time low, I'd like to wait until it is more favourable before committing to moving over for good. Questions that I have are as follows:- Will my initial entry date be seen as the date that I migrated to Australia, as this would have tax implications on moving over pensions etc? Can I apply for a multiple entry and exit visa, if I'm still residing in the UK? Am I able to apply for citizenship, even though I'm still residing in the UK?
