  1. Hi all, I have a strange dilemma about my visa subclass 100 myself and my son were granted from offshore. My wife is an OZ citizen. The initial entry date of our visa is due to expire at the beginning of December 2020. All our flights we had booked this year have been cancelled by the airline due to the ongoing covid situation. I can prove that with cancellation certs issues by the airline. Technically, we still have some time left but when I called the airline to rebook after the last cancellation , they explained to me that the OZ government would only allow people to fly to australia for "emergencies".The airlines are told to enforce that policy and they need to actually engage with the OZ goverment before allowing a passenger on a flight. As "emergency" they have 3 categories that fit into it: 1. OZ citizen going back for medical emergency 2. OZ citizen stuck abroad with no means to support himself/herself 3. Family member stuck abroad with a child to care for in OZ. Clearly, (and rightfully so) our partner visa activation doesn't fit into any of that so I have no hope to make it to OZ by the IED. On the same line, it's clear that this is totally out of my hands and it's the australian government that has set this priorities. The Department of Home Affairs have been pretty generic up to now when i enquired. According to them the message is that there is absolutely no leeway in postponing the initial entry date. is anyone in the same situation as myself and how did they handle it? I would be interested to know if anyone got an extension to their IED based on the current Covid situation and how they went about getting one. Thank you very much to all

    Initial entry to Australia

Hi, I have applied for sub class 176 visa in July 2010 along with my husband and son. I am the main applicant. My husband has to send Form 815 - Health undertaking as had problems with chest x-ray and his medicals are showing finalised online (09-07-2012). We received email from case officer asking us whether a date in september is ok for initial entry. We have no idea what to do now although we confirmed by email that we are ok with the date. Does this mean that we will have to travel to Australia before that date or can we do the entry clearance in a year? I also want to ask whether the case officer will grant the visa before we leave for australia or after the initial entry is being made? can someone please clarify the whole process in detail incl. health undertaking in australia. we are very anxious as we have waited very long and would like some help. Thanks in advance. :cute:

    Initial entry date

I am being processed for a 309 partner visa. I'm in the uk at the moment, and have fallen pregnant- I'm 5 weeks in. I believe that when you are granted your partner visa they give you an "initial entry" date which goes from when your police clearances etc are valid from- so I'm calculating by my papers I'll be given august as this is when I revieved my clearances etc. Problem with this is that I'm actually at bursting point with baby! And if I leave any sooner I am not going to receive any maternity pay from my work. This is a real tricky one- if anybody can give any advice please do... Does anybody know if the date can be Saunders given the circumstances? Thanks x
  4. *** Initial Entry Date - Coming back to Australia after Initial Entry on 20-NOV-2010 *** Hi Friends, My family (Me, Wife & my Kid) was issued a Skilled Independent Migrant Visa (VE 175) on 22-JUNE-2010 and our initial entry date was 18-FEB-2011. It is a 5 Years Multiple Entry Permanent Resident visa valid till 22-JUNE-2015 where in we can live in Australia indefinately. I just needed to confirm something because I think it's making me crazy. Our initial entry date was 18-FEB-2011 & we were not prepared for a immediate permanent move to Australia due to family issues & financial problems. In order to keep our visa's active & to activate it, we planned for a week's vacation to Melbourne and we travelled to Australia on 20-NOV-2010 & returned back to India on 28-NOV-2010. Have we met the "Initial Entry Date" requirements? Now, I have decided to move to Australia in January 2012 as things are stable now. I just want to know whether I can go back to Australia on the same visa? It would be really great if someone can advice me on this. Regards, Imran
