  1. Well I had my medical yesterday and it's already been approved when I checked on immi tonight!! Only requested last week so very quick turnaround all in all! Police check uploaded so just waiting for visa grant now! Very exciting and happy to know we've done all we can now  House is going on the market next week.
  2. Yay!!!! that's amazing news, congratulations!!! :jiggy: I'm sooooo chuffed for you. When are you planning on moving? We're going to Queensland too so would be great to stay in touch x
  3. Welcome! It is a frustrating waiting game unfortunately but worth it in the end :-) Since I've been on this forum the visa's seem to be coming in about 5-8months, mostly the earlier end but there are no guarantees. From what I can tell, the longer end of the 10-14 months seems to be the high risk applications (there's another thread for them) because they have to go for an interview. The waiting does seem to be a bit random. From what I've seen front loading doesn't seem to speed the process up, if anything it might seem to slow it down. I decided not to front load as I wanted confirmation that my application was ok which I see being asked for the medicals & police checks and no other info validation of. I was asked to go for mine last week so just over 4 months in. I'm doing it this week so we'll see how long they take to approve afterwards. Some people it's really quick - no rhyme nor reason I'm afraid! But you're in the right place to keep an eye on things and share the load with others in similar positons. Good Luck.
  4. Hi, Yes I went into my immi account and when I clicked on my part of it for more detail it shows the sponsor approved. This only happened when I had my medicals and police check requested, it wasn't showing before. What did they say in the reply to your email? I'm doing my medical in Knightsbridge.
  5. Yes feeling much better now thank you  Got medical booked for next Wednesday. It's in London so hubby has taken the day off work and we're going to the Science museum afterwards to make the most of the couple of hours travelling to get there. I'm about to sit and apply for my police check so should have it all uploaded by the end of next week. Good Luck for Friday, you might have your visa this time next week!
  6. Thank you George, sorry I just didn't want to give incorrect information. I had overlooked the onshore and temporary aspects so thank you for clarifying. Cara
  7. I got the request to do my medicals and police check today, yay! Checked Immi account and Hubby has been approved as a sponsor on there too so I'm very happy :-) Will get on to organising all that tomorrow. We can continue with our plans to get the house on the market in a couple of weeks and are still on track to hopefully move at the end of June. I'm so excited that things are progressing
  8. Hi, I was just lurking and thought I'd reply with a suggestion. As you've already paid for the visa, you could go ahead with it & validate it as late as possible (Would likely be over a years time if you haven't done medicals and police checks) and then you could come back to the UK and not move out there until before your visa is going to run out. I'm not sure how long you get with partner visa's but with others you get another 4 years. That means you wouldn't have to move to Oz for about another 5 years or so?..... Perhaps @George Lombard could correct me on the details of my suggestion.
  9. Good luck for Friday, hopefully you'll get a quick visa approval after too x
  10. Thank you, hopefully it won't be too long before I'm requested to do my medicals
  11. Yay! That's fab news :jiggy: Congratulations! Keep us updated on your plans x
  12. Ah Ok, well I'm sure it'll be approved any day. I'm sure the waiting is excruciating but hang on in there! You've got plenty of time yet.
  13. I just had another thought, did you validate your visa otherwise it may be invalid.
  14. Hi, I have applied for a partner 309 visa and we both live in the UK. My husband was just completing his permanent residency visa when we got together so I wasn't added on to his visa at the time. We validated his visa a year later and have now decided another year later that it is the right time for us to move. I spoke to the Australian High Commission before I lodged and they said that it only assumes the sponsor is resident in Australia because that is usually the case but not always and that it was fine for me to apply. There are plenty of people on this site who are with Australian citizens (their sponsor) who have lived in the UK for many years and are applying from the UK so I don't see why the rules would be different with permanent residency. As far as I can tell them main criteria of the visa is to prove you are a genuine couple - I can't see why they would make a genuine couple unnecessarily live in separate countries for the application particularly as the application requires solid proof of the partnership. Having said all that ours hasn't been granted yet so I can't tell you that it will definitely be ok. Perhaps post this in the 'ask an agent' forum to get professional advice? Someone else posted on there who was an Australian Citizen asking if they could sponsor while they were living in the UK and the agent replied yes. I hope that helps - there's a thread which is for 309 visa applicants which I have found is fantastic if you want to join called 'SUMMARY: Spouse Visa Processing times OFFSHORE-UK. Please add your Stats.' Cara
  15. Hi, Thank you for posting. It does seem to be a long time since your medicals. Were your medicals referred do you know as this may have delayed things or was there anything else complicated about your application that perhaps delayed it? If not then I guess your case officer just hasn't got round to granting it yet! Maybe you could send them an email advising of your situation which might give them a nudge. I'm sure you'll hear soon, keep us updated.
  16. Thanks Snifter for the time you take to give us advice. The criteria is to prove that we are a genuine couple which we can so I'm sure we haven't got anything to worry about. January & Feb are crap months which isn't helping but I shall go back to distraction tactics to take my mind off it and be grateful for everything I've got in life :-)
  17. Thanks We are ok on the criteria as we have been married since Sept 15 and have had a mortgage together since April 15 as well as a joint account, we provided statements from us and friends etc. I spoke to Australia House and they advised me on what to send. The only things that slightly concern me are 1) My husband who is my sponsor is British and has never lived in Australia but has a permanent residence visa to move there, we hadn't been together long enough to think about adding me before he got it so that's why I'm doing the partner visa now. 2) I had a permanent visa to live there with my ex husband but it expired because I divorced him instead of moving. We have explained all of this on the application and our covering notes so hopefully it will be acceptable to them. If it's just about proving we are a couple then we will be fine.
  18. Thanks for all your advice. Have you seen anyone refused a visa? Just would like to know at what point you would find out there's a problem?
  19. @ashabree I saw someone a while ago get a visa grant the day after their medicals were uploaded. This is just a guess but it seems that each case officer works differently. Some seem to request medicals early on and some seem to ask for them towards the end of the visa grant. I would imagine each case officer gets allocated visa applications and the time varies as to how long it takes them to work through them. They might have a complicated one just in front of you that they are dealing with. I'm sure your visa won't take too much longer especially if you are getting the medicals done next week. @koalakate has had her medicals requested, I think it was early last week.
  20. ps we're going to the Gold Coast as long as hubby can get work there. So exciting! It's all an emotional roller coaster isn't it!
  21. Thanks, I'm sure you'll hear very soon. I've mostly been pretty chilled about it all but I guess there's just that niggling doubt that I might not get the visa for some reason so just want peace of mind! This thread is great, its nice to see peoples updates and know roughly the time things are taking.
