  1. Yes I agree, they seem to give out standard responses - I called because I cant view my application properly and she advised that I had a case officer and my application was in progress. She wouldn't give me any other info and stuck to the 10-14 month standard time even though I prompted that people seem to be getting them quicker. I've heard that it is best not to badger them too much as it just slows them down and annoys them.
  2. Thanks for the information @hayleykj. The medical requesting does seem to be random, I've chosen to wait as I want validation that my application is ok. I hope it will be soon but I believe @ashabree hasn't had her medical requested yet and she applied in August. Our situation seems slightly different as everyone seems to be moving with an Australian citizen whereas my husband is British and has a permanent residence visa but hasn't lived there, although we have validated it. We hadn't been together long enough to add me on to his application before his visa got finalised so we are adding me on now so we can move in time to fulfil his 2 year resident return visa. We officially moved in together Dec 14 and got married September 15, no children, so we won't get the 100. Although we were able to provide joint mortgage documents & joint bank account details as well as our marriage certificate for official documents which the Australian High Commission advised was fine. I have had a permanent residence visa in the past to move with my ex husband but it expired as I ended the relationship instead of moving. I have declared this on the application, I hope it won't complicate things. We're staying positive and keeping ourselves busy with getting the house ready to go on the market, sorting and planning. It will happen soon for all of us and this will be a distant memory when we're living the dream
  3. Congratulations, that's great news! Good Luck with the move  It's good to see the visa's are still coming in around 5/6 months. Thanks for keeping us updated.
  4. Fantastic new!! I'm sooo pleased for you (And us that we're creeping nearer!) @ashabree I'm sure you'll hear very soon! It's all getting exciting! :jiggy:
  5. That's great news! The next thing you hear will probably just be your visa approval once you've done them! It's all getting exciting! I might phone and ask about not being able to view my application just in case there is a problem
  6. Hi Vicki, That's great that you've had your medicals requested already, it seems they all have slightly different ways of working. It definitely doesn't request it on my immi account yet, although there is a link for the medicals but I keep an eye on it at least once a week. I'm a bit worried though as I can't view my application. When I click on the link I don't have the correct program to open it, however, my husbands sponsorship application opens fine with no problems. Has anyone else had any experience of this? It does say that my application has been received. I'm sure you'll hear something from your case officer very soon @koalakate This will all be a distant memory soon when we're sitting on the beach :wubclub: Cara
  7. Hi Wizz4bizz, thank you! I'm pretty sure that once you post you automatically follow this thread which means you get an email once there is a reply - you probably already know this by now! You only get emailed once and then you have to log back on to the thread before they send you any more. It's great that you have family to live with and not long for you to go now! We're still waiting for my partner visa but are getting as organised as possible so we can move quickly once it comes through. Hopefully shouldn't be too long now before we here something (there has been some movement on visa's applied for the month before us). We are hoping to move out end of June. Would be good to stay in touch Cara
  8. Hi Barry, That's fab information and you've done such a great job of getting yourselves set up. Thank you for sharing it as it is so helpful. Most of the advice on here is that it's really difficult to get a rental before arriving and particularly furnished so you've really done a great job of that - did you find that through an agency? We do definitely need to do more homework and research, at the moment we're getting the house ready to go on the market and then we'll devote more time to research and getting set up over there. I'm so glad it's all going so well for you Thank you for being so helpful Cara
  9. Hi Barry, We are planning on booking a months holiday accommodation to give us time to find a more permanent rental - will that address be ok for looking for jobs? Hopefully we will be able to give a phone number for the rental too although not sure about that? My husband is looking for quite a specific job in construction but I'm changing career back into something sales related so I might find it harder to target specific companies. We are thinking of contacting agencies and companies when we've booked our accommodation and flights. That's brilliant that you got job interviews so quick - did companies tell you to contact them again when you arrived in the country. Are any of your interviews through agencies or only from direct contact with companies? Thanks for the advice, very helpful. Hope your interviews go well! Cara
  10. Thank you for your response, would you mind expanding on that a bit please as we've yet to start job hunting.......... When you say personal approach do you mean that you got results from contacting people when you were in Australia and is that direct to companies and agencies (phone or in person)? Do you think it's not even worth starting to make contact from the UK or is it still worth it to get the ball rolling? What job roles are you and your wife looking for? Much appreciated Cara
  11. Thanks for the update, glad you're all settling in so well. Great news on the job interviews - may I ask how you went about getting them? Glad you're enjoying the experience, how exciting!
  12. I don't know why but I seem to have lost the 'like' button!! Have a great Xmas and New year and forget about Oz stuff for a couple of weeks :-)
  13. Yay! I'm soooo pleased you finally had contact  Hopefully you'll hear something soon and its only to request your medicals and police checks. We're nearly a month behind you so fingers crossed we'll hear something in January. It's really nice to see things moving. Looking forward to seeing your next update!
  14. Great  I know, I keep thinking I should forget about it but I'm enjoying the interaction on here. It's nice to share with people in the same boat.
  15. Congratulations, that's fantastic news Nikki! Good Luck with the move..... Would be great to stay in touch. So some are taking a little longer but not too bad, it's still a lot earlier than 10-14 months thankfully
  16. We loved the Gold Coast when we stayed there (the Southern suburbs, we stayed in Burleigh heads) so are looking there ideally. However, we are open minded and it depends where OH gets work. We definitely would like to be near the sea if possible as we live 10mins walk to the sea here in the UK. We are aiming to go between May and September, the sooner the better but it depends on when we get contact regarding the visa. We don't want to put the house on the market until the medicals & police checks are requested so we know it is more definite.
  17. Congratulations!! That's great news - good luck with your journey  We've been trying to find a pattern but it looks like it is completely random, down to work loads and possibly individual case officers. It is great and reassuring to see other people progressing - but I can imagine it is frustrating to see others getting results much quicker when you are still waiting. It's still early days for us so not expecting anything soon but nice to see what's going on. Good Luck to everyone waiting, I hope there's some more good news before Christmas :xmas29:
  18. Hi @ChimneyJ Thankyou for the update and congratulations!! That was very quick! Is there anyone out there who has had contact from their case officer/been requested medicals police checks in August? Thanks
  19. Hi @Chloerose welcome to the board. Looks like you got a CO allocated just before things started to go quiet, hopefully you should be ok with getting your visa. It's the waiting for the CO that seems to be the problem at the moment. Hoping you get your visa very soon, keep us updated.
  20. Hi @koalakate, you have been waiting for a very long time now! But I've been trawling the forums and cannot find anyone that has had a case officer allocated or been requested medicals since July. It makes me think that they have put partner visa's on hold for a while?? Perhaps they'll just suddenly get going again. I really hope you get a decent explanation this time. You could ask on the migration agent thread to see if any of them know what's happening? It would just be nice to know why they seem to have suddenly slowed down. I'm happy for now focussing on Christmas but I'm not looking forward to January and February if there's still no news as they are such crap months anyway!
