  2. Hi all Finally my UK parents e651 was approved today, after applying around 7/11, we actually got the exemption approved first, then the visa which I believe is what caused the wait, Good luck everyone! Cheers Nick
  3. this is what I got from the old man… so not necessarily due to no exemption (sorry for not being clear) I started completing an application for a 651 eVisitor visa but before I had got very far into it, I was informed that "You are not eligible to apply for the visa using this service
  4. In our experience, my Dad applied for an e651 but was rejected due to no exemption - then same day applied for exemption which has now been approved, so now is applying again for e651 I'll keep you updated on the result
  5. We haven't booked anything yet, dependent on the outcome and length of the visa/exemption process, but would love them to come for Xmas but i appreciate it's a very expensive long shot, so probably Feb/Mar next year...

  7. You must submit your request for a travel exemption at least two weeks, but not more than two months, before your planned travel. source: https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/immediate-family-australian-citizens-or-permanent-residents-or-new-zealand-citizens-usually-resident-australia#toc-4
  8. That’s great to know thanks, any ideas on processing times?
  9. Hi Amelia I'm in the same boat and as said further up, it's all very liable to change. As far as I can work out given the current situation parents would need to apply for both of the following; a) an exemption - which can only be applied for from 1st Nov and they'd have to supply evidence of your visa and being your parent (birth cert etc) https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/immediate-family-australian-citizens-or-permanent-residents-or-new-zealand-citizens-usually-resident-australia b) a visa - i guess it's the standard 651 (as stated above) I'm not sure in what order you'd need to apply for these and if it makes a difference, anyone know? Trailfinders in UK told my parents to get a visa before booking, Cheers Nick

  12. agreed! I keep my eye closely on site such as this one trying to work out any rhyme or reason to the market https://www.poundsterlinglive.com/aud what I've noticed is every currency change is reported but never really predicted, I have now set goals with my forex broker who call me when the rate is reached, which is preferable to watching the skittish market change on a daily basis...
  13. any view on timings to shift UK savings to AUD?
  14. Hi all I moved from UK to AU this year, before the move I shifted money over with a UK based Forex broker, now I'm here I'm looking for advice on if it's best to continue using a UK broker or a local AU broker to shift my money over? Does it matter, apart from convenience? Thanks for your thoughts! Cheers C
