  1. Unfortunately we will not have our visas and be in a position to do that within the timeframe. We will be going over to finalise registration then proceeding with the modified skills assessment before submitting EOI mid next year. This is to defer the valadity period of our visa when granted.
  2. Hi Everyone my wife received her registration in principle from Ahpra stating she needs to present in person with the outstanding proof of ID. Now the only ID they have asked for is one that isn't asked for on the application form or the proof of ID requirements document. They are asking for proof of Australian address. We provided ID for Catagory A,B & C. Nowhere does it say Australian address is required. If we make a a holiday trip to finalise this registration what evidence have people used as proof of Australian address since we will likely be in holiday accommodation. I cant understand the rationale behind this request as they know and accept this address will be a temporary holiday one only valid for that week. It seems they are just making this up as they go along. Any advice from people who have completed registration whilst visiting on holiday would be appreciated. Steve
  3. For us it took 2 weeks from phoning for the form to arrive from NMC, then we paid and returned form on 4th March, they claimed to receive it 16th March and finally sent to Ahpra 23 working days later. They dont rush.
  4. Yes, this is how we intend on doing it too. We are hoping to obtain visa's by March 2017. We will then validate in August 2017 starting the 4 year clock. Hope to then move out August 2018. If we don't then leave for 3 years we will be eligible August 2021 in time for my son to qualify for citizen rate university funding.
  5. Have you looked at getting NZ registration who accept diploma currently then converting through Tasmanian transfer to Ahpra.
  6. Just a note to those who may not know. All uk banks Now pay interest gross and liability for tax on savings interest has a tax free threshold of £1000 since April 6th this year.
  7. Great news for you guys, that is so quick and so reassuring. We are waiting on Ahpra (and NMC obviously). Time to celebrate.
  8. We're waiting on NMC at the min. Sent paperwork and paid 4/3/16. They claim the scanned it in on 16/3/16 and it will be sent out 8/4/16. Ahpra have confirmed receipt of application though.30/3/16.
  9. It looks like they want close until Dec 2016 which is your deadline to present in person.
  10. Matthew does that mean you gained full registration(Pin number) in NZ without having to present in person as most do for Ahpra?
  11. Thanks for an excellent summary of your experience, my wife is looking at doing this soon having not achieved on the IELTS reading part. I managed to get the book from amazon for £18 delivered and someone else posted a very useful link below with sources. https://drive.google.com/drive/mobil...i=1#identifier Hopefully she will find this test better. Steve
  12. I have only ever had the short version of my birth certificate for as long as i remember. The 189 visa requires a full birth certificate showing parents names. Now here is the issue or possibly not? I requested a copy of my full birth certificate from the GRO at a cost of £9.50 which i have now received. My birth certificate does not show my fathers details, they are just dashed out. My issue is will i need to provide any other evidence to show the relationship to my father in the absence of his name on my birth certificate. Its probably not a real issue but I'm trying to pre-empt anything as i don't really communicate with my father much these days. Steve
  13. It can be very hard mapping certain jobs. It's worth speaking to a migration agent just in case there is any other routes. I looked at emigrating about 6 years ago but even though I had the qualifications I hadn't done the job enough in the years leading upto it so vetesses wouldn't give me a positive skills assessment. We are now applying in my wife's name as main applicant. There is often other routes it depends how much you want to make the move I guess. Good luck either way.
  14. The issue you are coming across is that the uk does not use the title engineer like many other countries. In a lot of countries it is a protected title that can only be used by people registered as an engineer following a foundation degree or bachelors. For example an Openreach network engineer does not require any formal academic qualifications to use the title engineer in the uk. This would be more likened to a technician/associate/officer in Oz.
  15. What exactly is your uk job that you feel falls under telecoms engineer? These may be different from what Australia call your job hence the confusion with engineers Australia.
  16. Yes it does work well, an opinion is built based on Positive work, the higher the frequency of positive recommendations the higher the perception, it is human nature to complain more then recommend and people can and do make negative comments in anger and haste, the Internet would then potentially detrimentally effect that business even if the comments are not justified. Once on the Internet, it's there forever. Positive reccomendations however are only beneficial to the business image, the success can be measured on the number of these reccomendations. Obviously there is also the legal implications that forum/internet comments can be used as evidence of legal defamation in some countries and this would open the forum itself to responsibility for those comments. Like any other thing in this world the choice is down to the user of the forum, abide by the rules or don't use the forum.
  17. OMG , 18 posts and it's still going round in circles. It's really simple. Positive recommendations are permitted in the forum rules, negative ones are not. It's laid down in forum rules. If anyone doesn't like it they don't have to listen to the recommendations or be on the forum. It's really not that hard.
  18. Definetly interested. Maybe a university could be a suitable venue to accommodate enough people.
  19. We are a long way off this issue but fully intend to apply as soon as eligible. There are many reasons for it, the first being this is intended as a permenant move therefore it is the final step in the process. There are other benefits such as children being eligible to normal uni fees and support etc.
  20. We are a couple of years away from the move but concentrating on slowly decluttering the house and clearing any debts before we make the move so we will have the funds from house sale and that's it.
  21. My sister is in a similar but also different position to you. Her dad(we are half sisters) and two half sisters live in Perth but she also does not have an occupation on the SOL or CSOL so cannot qualify for a visa either. It it can be very hard even though seeming simple sometimes.
  22. I think it depends on the CO you get as it doesn't state you need to have an Australian address specifically. There has been people on here and other forums successfully do it without presenting but we will visit if need be to do it.
  23. HI yes, we are hoping to gain full AHPRA registration as we have provided ID for each category requested. if we do only get provisional registration then we will make a trip to visit friends and finalise registration, open bank account etc. before doing the modified skills assessment with anmac. others have finalised without presenting in person so hopefully we will manage it too.
  24. I think if you applied for another visa even tourist one it would cancel your old one. Hopefully someone with more info will be able to help.
