  1. Good point. There we will be checking out the options on our reccie in two weeks.
  2. We are with THREE in the uk and they have a roaming agreement with Australia where your home rates apply and this can be done for up to 3 months at a time. So we plan on using our uk ones for first couple of months then cancelling contract so it ends at the end of third month. That way we have a couple of months to get sorted.
  3. Hi kyliedonut, wow fantastic tic it's so good to see it all come together. We are due to land in Perth on 15th October for a 10 reccie. We have appointment with NAB on 17th in subiaco then popping up the same road to Ahpra to finalise registration. We have done a new fit2work just to be safe and have confirmation from case officer and Ahpra central office that new cogs won't be required. After all it will only be 6 months and 4 days old. We are so excited about trip. I'm looking for graduateships in Oz myself as I am due to graduate next year with my MEng in mechanical engineering. Looks like ire you have arrived just in time for spring. We too are flying with Etihad so good to hear your experience was good. We are taking my sister with us on our visit and staying with her dad whilst there. I have no idea what to expect but starting to try and find some quintessentially British gifts to take especially for the kids. Keep us posted on how you get on steve
  4. Hi thanks for that. I am currently on a accelerated scholarship to CEng with Siemens which means with my previous experience (mature student) and MPDS scheme I could potentially gain CEng within 2 years if I stay in UK. I think this would take substantially longer in WA even with my experience and grades. It is a long shot and I have seen some UK companies with branches in WA but a lot require citizenship due to security sector and military work. I am playing the long game here as we are applying on my wife's occupation as Nurse. Hopefully things will will pick up in next couple of years.
  5. Hi very stormy, yes I'm aware of the downturn which is why I'm hoping to get a graduateship as these continue regardless of the downturn in most sectors all be it in lower numbers. I'm just trying to gauge if it is better to do a graduateship in the UK or Australia. I am a mature graduate so scoping out the right move as I'm applying for graduateships here in the UK now. Regards steve
  6. Hi guys, i am am just about to start my final year of a MEng - mechanical engineering. I am hoping to find a suitable graduateship in WA. If anyone can point me to suitable resources it would be much appreciated. Regards Steve
  7. Hi. We haven't got a stat Dec yet apparently you can sign one in the office when you present. They are different for each territory.
  8. I'm interested in this too we will be shipping our Mally to Perth when we move over.
  9. My wife and I are taking a trip in October to present in person at Ahpra Perth. The in principle letter states if cogs is over 3 months old a statutory declaration will be required. After hearing different stories we contacted Ahpra by phone and they have confirmed we can sign stat declaration even with cogs being 6 months 4 days old but will need a new fit2work as it will be 7 months 2 days old. We haven't seen anything that says a new fit2work is required but don't think we can risk it. Regards steve
  10. In contrast I have been told the tourist visa doesn't count because the citizenship requirements refer to residency which a tourist visa is not.
  11. Hi just checked ours again. Definetly nothing about the 6 month bit. Seems weird.
  12. Hi we are due to present in Perth mid October. Our registration in principle letter only says if cogs is over 3 months old we need to sign stat declaration. Nothing about 6 month timing. Or fit2 work. We emailed the case officer and she replied stating we only need to sign stat declaration. Has anyone else had this issue when presenting even though letter doesn't state the 6 month bit.
  13. Join pigeon watch forum. So much great knowledge on there and guns for sale.
  14. I think everyone entitled to vote has a duty to do so. You may not live in the UK now but you are considered to have a right to at any time through your citizenship for example. This is a very big thing for the UK and will effect everyone. I don't personally think the pound will suffer from leaving the EU. All the evidence actually shows how the UK will prosper. There is no reliable evidence it will be worse out the EU. At present too much of the U.K. Regulations are dictated by people not elected by the UK people. That is not democracy and not what I want for the UK so I'm voting out.
  15. we are not planning the move for a couple of years as I still have at least 1 more year at uni to do. I'm desperately hoping not to have to sell my guns as I have built up a nice collection of special edition models etc. I'm sure it will be much easier for you to get your ticket in Windsor then up here in Lincolnshire as ours is run by G4S (say no more). There are lots of options when it comes to a 12 bore though anything from £25 for a basic old one up to many thousand. A Barretta silver pigeon is a popular model though. My lad is really into it and if it's 2 years away he will be 14 so able to do more in Oz. I highly recommend as shop called Forest Lodge Guns in wragby if you look them up. One of the premiere shops in uk and priced very well.
  16. Yes issues seem similar to uk with regard to rented accommodation then. Just hoping to continue my hobby when we get out there.
  17. Hi there, is there anyone here who has taken up clay pigeon shooting and target shooting once out in WA. Regards steve
  18. So good to read your experience as we will be taking our Alaskan malamute with us when we go.
  19. Been through there years ago, from what I remember it was full of Jewlery stalls and rolls Royce stands. Very bling.
  20. No, we don't have any former registration, we need the visa for two reasons, one to enter the country and present in person, the second to satisfy ID Catagory A (overseas passport with valid Australian visa).
  21. Thanks for the advice guys. Flights booked with Etihad through sky scanner for October. Spoke to Etihad direct and confirmed meals and seats. We are going via Abu Dhabi. From what I've read we don't need a transit visa so all should be good.
  22. We have just booked our flights for October to visit family in Perth. We will finalise bank account and Ahpra registration whilst there. Then we can move things along planning on a validation trip next July all going to plan of course.
  23. Hi everyone, we are going to book flights to Perth soon and have never booked flights before that were not part of a package holiday. We have found flights on sky scanner and cheap flights.co.uk and was wandering if anyone had any tips on what to look out for such as extra charges etc. The one we have found is with Etihad stopping at Abu and comes out at £1176 return for 2 adults. Any advice ice would be much appreciated. Steve
  24. They have accepted my wife's passport with tourist visa ( as per the list in proof of ID requirements document). The only thing they request now is proof of Australian address, this apparently is a requirement of NMBA but not listed on the documentation. The application officer has confirmed a tourist trip is fine as long as you get a date of entry stamp in passport. We are not applying for visa yet as we need our 5 year window to start from next year for our timings to work out with validation trips and travel validity period of visa etc. I know a few people have made a visit just to finalise the registration so hopefully they will shed some light.
