  1. Why do some people need Australian and UK police checks? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I applied for my PMV 21st February and CO asked for medicals and police checks today (9th March). Already did medicals yesterday though. Very Exciting
  3. Congrats! [emoji16] How long did it take? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I live in Wales at the moment, so we go from summer to winter in one day as well. I'm 5 minutes from the beach but the sunset sucks there because it's too cold to enjoy most the time. I'll definitely update with progress though :cute: Very exciting!
  5. Never been around Glenelg. Melbourne was really nice though. We went there in winter, but I wasn't expecting to need a coat and scarf.
  6. Glad to hear that, puts my mind at ease. Hopefully we get ours around the same time :cute:
  7. So you applied, 4 weeks later you got a CO, 1 week later asked for medicals? Sounds good, I want that speed!
  8. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be straight forward. We meet all the requirements and I've uploaded proof of them and everything from the checklist the day I lodged. I'm a little wary over our financial aspects since we don't have joint finances, but I stated we don't because we live apart there's no need. The closest to that is paying for hotels, each other's meals and days out while visiting. I'm hoping a CO will just ask for my medicals and that's it. If we did any visiting between now and the visa decision, my partner would be visiting me. So no delay on the visa.
  9. No CO yet. I was hoping we'd get one with our confirmation since some people have. But I read some people don't even get one? Well aren't told they have one, or any contact with one. Just waited a while and it's granted. I've basically uploaded everything (I think) apart from medical and police checks so probably get one asking for that eventually. I finish college in June, and my partners birthday is July so he was hoping I'd move for his birthday. So even if I was granted it by 5 months it'd be quite rushed. I thought moving for October (my birthday) would be a bit more doable as we're aiming for December wedding so my parents can visit for that and spend Christmas same time.
  10. I'm not sure what to expect. I've seen UK sites saying it's 10-14, but the australian sites say 5-9. Then it seems most people from the UK are getting grants around 6 months. Eager for a CO to tell me what to expect so I know if I can enrol in another year of study or not and if we should book flights to visit each other while waiting, or just save the money and wait a little longer
  11. Hi, I lodged my PMV on the 21st Feb I read somewhere the waiting time is 10-14 months right now?????? I've got my HAP number but I've delayed booking my medicals until within 12 months or until I'm asked because I don't want them to run out. Does that sound about right??
  12. Hi I lodged my PMV on the 21st Feb. I've got my HAP number but I'm not sure about when to book my medicals. I've read forums saying it's up to 14 month wait at the moment??? Since the medicals last 12 months I was just going to delay them until under 12 months or until I'm asked to.
  13. Hi. I'm hoping to apply for the PMV 300 in the next few weeks, but I'd like to double check I have everything before I apply. Few things about us: I (applicant) live in the UK, and my partner (sponsor) lives in Australia. We're both 20, and have been together since 2014. We first started speaking around January 2014, and we got together June. June 2015 we met for the first time on our anniversary and I visited him in Australia. I stayed for about 2 months. I met all of his family there and we stayed at his parents house. Around May my partners mum, nan and sister came to the UK to meet up with some of their relatives. They stayed 1 night at my house so they could meet my mum and we spent the day together and visited some tourist attractions in Wales. After they went home, my partner visited me, and we stayed at my house with my mum. (She's my only family I speak to so he basically met my whole family too). We didn't really have a proper engagement. More along the lines of him suggesting it and me saying I'd like it too. Then that just turned into working out how we could do it. What we've got so far: Certified birth certificate (sponsor and applicant) Certified Passport photos (sponsor and applicant) Certified Passport ID page (sponsor and applicant) Statements of our relationship (sponsor and applicant) how, when and where we first met how our relationship developed online and in person how we became engaged joint activities with our families and each other significant events in the relationship like dealing with death in the family our future plans [*]Proof of communication between us over KIK, Facebook and some Skype chats (My skype wouldn't allow me to go further than a day back in history) [*]Proof of us meeting and going places in Australia (photos, flight & hotel itinerary) [*]Proof of us meeting and going places in UK (photos, flight & hotel itinerary) [*]2 Certified statutory declarations (by partners/sponsors parents) [*]Signed letter and NOIM by marriage celebrant Waiting on requests for: Police check (sponsor and applicant) Health check (sponsor and applicant) Is there anything else I should include? Thanks :cute:

    Ielts?

Hi, I'm still trying to plan ahead. Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions, I just want to know what I need to do to get going. I want to study Accounting in Adelaide in 2018, and I'm hoping to get onto the TAFE advanced diploma. I had GCSE C in English in 2013, which I think is IELTS 6. Course Admission Requirements (for International Applications) Academic IELTS score of 5.5 Overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of Year 12 or overseas equivalent , or for those with only Year 11 (or overseas equivalent) the successful completion of the Certificate IV in Accounting. I'm unsure if I need to take the IELTS test or not seeing as I think I have the equivalent, but got it 3 years ago. Any advice please?
  15. Thanks, I would definitely get an agent for the visas after the student visa. (The course I'm going to be doing has a streamlined visa scheme, seems straight forward as far as I know) Honestly I think I just like talking about my plans because I'm excited haha
  16. Hi, basically I'm having doubts about my plans just because if they're wrong it will effect years of my life. The plan is to finish my Graphic Design Extended Diploma the UK. I finish June 2016. Then I'm changing course to Accounting. Either level 2, or level 3 diploma. (Depending if my Graphic Design extended diploma is acceptable as "or equivalent" for the level 3 diploma. I'll apply for the student visa to study Accounting diploma or advanced diploma (Depending how study in the UK goes). I plan on working part time. A year into the student visa, I plan on applying for the de facto visa, and Bridging Visa A. I'll be living with my partner for a year around then. We'll have been together almost 3 years when I apply. (We take turns to visit each other each summer). I know this visa takes up to 15 months for a decision, but after my student visa ends, can I work full time on the bridging visa? I was planning on aiming for a bank job. 2 years on the temporary de facto visa, I would apply for the permanent. I couldn't find any fees for this? Does anyone know them? I'd continue the full time bank job if possible. After getting the permanent visa, I'd like to go back into education. (Waiting for cheaper costs). I'd either do the advanced diploma and/or bachelor. I'd also go back to part time work, staying at the bank if possible. Then 2 years after having the permanent visa, I would apply for citizenship, and also sponsor my mum to move out on the Contributory Parent Visa 173, and after I finish education, try for full time accountancy jobs. Does that sound like it'd work? I'm unsure on the parent visa, but we are aiming for the one that is £25k.
  17. We met on an online chat game. Skype calls going literally 24/7. I visited him on our 1 year anniversary, and stayed at his house for 2 months. He's coming here this year in 4 months for our 2 year anniversary, and by the time I move we'll have been together 3 years. When I apply for the visa, I will have lived with him for a year while on the student visa. I don't want him to agree to marry me just so I can stay int he country, even if its for the right reasons, I'd rather wait for that. I do see a future with him, and if all goes to plan I want to be able to settle down with him in Australia. While living together, we'd have a joint account for our bills. I've also met his family and friends, so I know they would give statements for us when applying for the visa.
  18. I'll finish college when I'm 21. Delayed uni until 25 when I'm a resident if we have to save for my mums £28k visa instead of paying for my uni.
  19. I left school not sure what to do, but knew I wanted to move out (bad decision), so went moved to London to live with a friend and study Art & Design. I got kicked out her house because she wasn't giving her mum my rent money, so her mum thought I never paid rent, and of course believed her daughter over me. I came back to Wales one month into my course, because I had no where to stay. By then there were no college spaces left. I waited until the next year, and started Graphic Design. I'm on my second year of this now, and have decided I want to do accounting instead. Pretty sure this is the last change, because I do accounting as a hobby on my mums and my own finances and savings. I'm starting the accounting diploma this year in 6 months. Then the plan is the advanced diploma in Australia. I should be on my last or 2nd to last year of uni at the moment. But because of all that I'm behind. Not sure what other info would be useful. What were you thinking I left out?
  20. No, 3 years behind because of changing course.
  21. Means doing my college course, getting into a uni, then trying to go. Very long process.
  22. Oh, but I want to do accounting? So that'll be okay more likely?
