  1. Yeah, I know about the 5 years free movement with the PRV, but someone else made a comment about the visa itself expiring, which I suspected was not accurate. Was just checking and being cheeky at the same time
  2. Might have to accept that your entire family may not be able to have all your ceremonies together. Just seems to be a reality these days. Might just have to go when you are called. It's better than nothing!
  3. He indicated that he is on a 186, not 187. So as such, yes he is obligated to stay with that employer for a minimum of 2 years as part of the visa agreement.
  4. Why do you want to leave? Unless they are mistreating you or are committing some sort of crimes against your person, you owe them the decency to remain with them for the required two year period. They spent thousands of dollars to sponsor you for a life in this country. So as I said unless they are mistreating you in some way, you should show them some loyalty and stay with them for the twobuear period.
  5. All I based my comment on was the photo of two guys plowing through waist deep snow. I didn't delve into the actual text. Had I know what the context of the conversation was, I wouldn't have cracked a joke.
  6. Wow. I was just being cheeky, having a bit of a sense of humour, but I can see it's completely lost here. Carry on in complete seriousness.......
  7. That may be true for you, but your case is not a guarantee of how anyone elses will work. Every single case is different.
  8. I will write about my experience living in Darwin in a few days. Hopefully it will be helpful for some.
  9. I live in Darwin, and know several doctors and nurses at the RDH. The state of health care in the Darwin-Palmerston region is a mess only getting worse.
  10. No one will be able to tell you that. You will just have to wait on pins and needles like everyone else
  11. After. My nomination was approved in just under a week if I recall correctly. Are you in a regional area?
  12. I'm starting to think it really has to do with your situation. For me, I am a single guy with no family. My former company applied for my 457 when the immigration website said average wait times were mostly over a year; it was granted in 4 weeks right at Christmas. My currently company applied for my 186 visa when again the website was saying that wait times were mostly over 18 months; it was granted in two months. I also live in a regional area (Darwin) that most immigrant do not want to live in. It has an economy that is in tatters at the moment and the population is in decline. This means that they need people to fill vacancies and try to grow the economy and population again. So I'm thinking this, all of these factors combined, had a lot to do with the speed of my visa approvals. As for a citizenship application and it's associated timelines, I don't know if these factors will assist me in getting mine approved quickly (when I am eligible to apply, which is next July). We shall see. This is all just a theory though, so take it with a grain of salt

  14. Exactly. There is literally no way of knowing how long it will take. The key is to wait patiently.
  15. Why don't you contact a migrant agent directly if you are weary of the advice given on this forum? Seems like the most logical solution for you.
  16. Hi, yes sorry, I currently have my 186 Visa. I just want a second casual or part-time jobs to help pay down some debt I have incurred due to some unforeseen circumstances. Thanks for your help chaps
  17. How do you know if your nominated occupation is eligible for PR on a 482? I can't seem to find that information.
  18. Bonjour all you good chaps and chapettes Can anyone direct me where to find info on what is required for a citizenship test and application? I won't be needing this for at least a year (just had my PR approved 3 days ago) but just want to keep myself informed on what is required so I can be prepared when the time comes. Cheers
  19. Environmental Research Scientist. I live in the armpit of Australia (Darwin). I'm thinking that due to the NT's economy being in the toilet and people leaving in droves, they are desperate to keep people here so they will likely approve visas for immigrants as quick as they can to help keep the population up here afloat, at least for awhile until people get the chance to leave here. Either way, the wait is over
