  1. Marisa. Saying people at 50 are old is stupidity. People at 50 are not old. I was looking for some constructive advice. Not petty responses. Please waste your time posting on another site like mums net which you seem to perfectly fit. Thanks
  2. as above, I didn not ask for advice re mine and my husbands visa situation.
  3. Well then we will just have to seek asylum like everyone else in the UK! please stop commenting on mine and my husbands visa situation. It's not my reason re this post.
  4. Als, I never asked for your opinion of advice re mine and my husbands visa situation.
  5. Finally someone with a nice sense of humour!! they do love wine! We have a vineyard practicsllt next door to us too! They wil love it!
  6. I'm from a strong financial background. I do not need to worry re visa costs ect. People shouldn't move to Australia if they have financial concerns. My sons education is paid for. I have a house in Australia and the UK. I have no financial worries.
  7. why would we be stranded for good? People move between counties all the time. We both work and are paid a good salary, we have a genuine committed relationship. The UK are hardly going to close the boarders!! To say something like this is completely without merit and makes no sense. My husbands parents are in Australia and mine are in the uk. We took a decision to live in the best country for us as a new family. Australia is our choice, we have no reason to move back to the UK. We have a home in Australia.
  8. I never said I was granted a visa solely on my husband being australian, I was simply explaining my husband is australian and that my visa was not a working visa. I am on my second stage I applied for my visa 3 years ago. time is not an issue, I never said my parents were to move immediately. My my mother is extremely qualified, I spoke to my friend who is a recruitment agent in Australia and she is absolutely sure she will have no issues. So maybe it's not for you to give advice on if people may or may not get jobs unless you are fully aware of their qualifications and experience as you may put others off the move without understanding their capabilities for further reference.
  9. Thanks so much for all your comments...well maybe not all. There seems to be a few people that have a bit of a jealous nature unfortunately, majority of the comments are helpful - thankyou to those of you of whom have a genuine nature to help and not judge. Hopefully a a bit more clarification will help re our situation. 1) my parents do have money and are not short of a bob or 2. My parents are lucky that money is not a problem for them. 2) 50s is not old. Especially when they have just turned 50 - im sure there is a lot of people beginning a new life at 50 in Auz 3) I'm on the second stage of my visa and I app,ice for my visa 3 years ago, my brother ( only sibling) also lives in Australia with his wife too. 4) my parents have visited auz several times with myself and my husband 5) the only social activities my parents need is vineyards - they love wine also their grandchildren. 6) not concerned about my husband having a full UK visa we have been married a long time and we can return when we wish, I hardly think they will close the boarder to young working people with a genuine relationship. 7) my friend is a recruitment agent in Auz who is already looking at work for my parents and feels 50 is not too old St all to all those thinking of moving don't let some people's comments put you off. Investigate well, and follow your heart.
  10. Hi guys, i was granted citizenship to australia this year, as my husband is australian, we currently live up north in the UK in the same village as my family. We are emigrating next summer. My mum would love to move to Australia with us, as we have an 8 month old little boy she wants to see grow up and help me look after. My dad is not so keen but is willing to go over to Australia with an open mind. My dad is in his early 50s and is an area sales manager within a bakery sector and is concerned about getting a job in Australia and starting again, has anyone been through this? My mum is qualified to work with severe learning disabilities so she will be fine for a jib as she has excellent experience. Anyone starting over again is their 50s? Anyone emigrating to be with their grandchildren? Anyone working in sales and concerned about getting a job?
  11. Hi guys, woke up this morning to an email saying my visa 100 has been granted! It was pretty quick all sorted in 4 months so at least you guys who have to wait long for the perm side of things! I wish you all luck and happiness down under. And thank you for all the advice and info! Especially from snifter! Looking forward to our new family life with my husband and little boy x
  12. Thanks snifter! My application is being reviewed and they asked for it. It's taking a while but with the bank holiday I think that's why! Hopefully tomorrow it will be here!
  13. Hi guys, a few questionns.. 1) how long did your police checks take? 2) does the time framesthey provide of 10 days included weekend and bank hols when you apply? 3) do you get them in the post? Thanks!
  14. Thats fine I have enough time as Our flights are booked for July, I called immigration too and I can move whilst my perm visa is being processed so that's all good! Thanks everyone
  15. Thanks so much for all the helpful info guys! Yes he he does he has his passport ready and waiting (lucky thing). I submitted his passport and birth cert ect so I think they have everything. I did my 888 forms of declaration and my hubby did his 47sp so I think it's just a matter of approval now not sure how long they take to approve the second stage I can't find any info on it either from others. thanks for all your help!
  16. Hi guys, Looking for some advice and wondering if anyone is in the same situation as me! Applied for partner visa two years ago, I was approved the temporary visa, I didn't emigrant due to pregnancy complications so we extended our stay in the UK but I did enter australia within the year so it has validated. I had an email in May asking me to now submit my permanent application 801. I have now done this and I am waiting approval of my perm visa. My Questions are: 1) has anyone else lodged their visa in the UK for perm stage after 2 years when having temp stage approved? 2) how long did it take to be approved? 3) did you need to have another medical? 4) can you emigrate whilst your perm visa is being approved if you lodged it in the UK? Thank you in advance!
  17. Yes that's right Eifister! I'm so clueless to the whole process! Yeah I know I should be in Aus!! the baby decided to be high risk and kept dropping his he's heart rate which meant we couldn't fly! And it felt too much to move one After having a baby, he's now 7 months so I'm starting to prepare and now feeling ready. My health is fine now, he was just a little monkey when pregnant! Still is!!! So so does this mean even though I've applied in the UK I can still move? Or do I have to wait to get it? Yeah that's why Im shocked at waiting times!! They said 9 months a few years ago but took 4 months so I thought it was just a precaution! Good luck to everyone else applying!! If anyone has any info re the perm it would be so helpful. Thank you!!
  18. thanks so so much guys for all your info! Yeah that's right I'm waiting on my PR. But I thought if you apply in the UK you had to stay in the UK until it was approved? I didn't know I could move whilst I'm waiting? Thanks so so much for all your help!
  19. Ps thanks for letting me know about the tourist visa. I have my tickets booked for us all in July to go haha oops!!
  20. i hi guys, im subclass 100. I applied for my visa 2 years ago received the first approval after 4 months and now they have asked me to apply for my second stage which I thought was called perm stage but God knows I get so confused with all the forms ect. I'm on the spousal visa as my husband is australian. Hanks for the reply snifter lots of info! I am expecting my APCO police check in a few days. I haven't done my medical yet as I am waiting for the case officer to tell me to do it. I did it before for my first stage and I wasn't sure if I have to do it again. Pi am currently residing in the UK when my initial visa was approved, and I visited Australia within the 1 year time frame from when it was approved and now I'm waiting for my perm visa to be approved then we will emigrate. ( I had a baby and a very complicated pregnancy which meant I could not emigrate after approval first time so we said we would wait until the perm application. Does this make sense? If not I can get more info. i thought it would be so quick like a tick box exercise for them....australia husband that's legitimate...check. Baby...check...arguments like a normal couple...check haha! Thanks for your replies in advance.
  21. Hi guys, I'm new to the website and stumbled across this list which is fantastic with time scales. I'm a little shocked by the time frames for approval. Is it really taking 9/10 months? Im in the second stage of my visa approval which I think is the perm stage. Were looking to move July next year. But if the visa process times are taking 9/10 months. it's looking very tight! Has anyone had theirs processed sooner? Im also still waiting on my police check as they sent it to the wrong person the first time!! So it's my last bit of info to submit. But my application was submitted in May. Any by info on time scales would be a real help! Thank you!
  22. Hi guys, im looking for some advice Fromm others that have been in the same situation. July 2016 im emigrating with my husband and 18 month old son to melbourne. Im absolutely terrified about the flight, I have a bad phobia of flying due to a recent flight in which my plane went through the eye of a storm and was hit by lightening serveral times with my precious 4 month old son on board with me. It has now made me have panic attacks when I fly, and with all the news around plane issues lately it really doesn't help! That being said I am actively doing something about my fear of flying and I have booked onto a fear of flying course with Virgin Atlantic. Im waiting to ask a few questions in relation to flying with a child and having a stop over! 1) is it better to have a stop over with an 18 month old child? 2) has anyone done a stopover in Singapore with young children? 3) has anyone flown with singapore airlines? With all the news surrounding Asian airlines im more nervous flying with them rather than someone like quantas. Unfortunately quantas only stop at dubai and dubai is too hot in July when we emigrate. 4) does anyone have any tips when flying with young children for so long? 5) myself and my husband are taking a few months off work when we arrive to settle our little boy in and enjoy our time. Does anyone recommend places to visit around melbourne and further afield? Thanks in advance
