  1. Assurance of Support: Disallowance Motion Scheduled for Senate Business The Disallowance Motion which seeks to strike out the retrospective changes to the Assurance of Support income requirement has been introduced to the Senate. The Motion is scheduled to be discussed after 2pm today, Wednesday the 9th of May, as per Senate Business.
  2. What is the timeline for the disallowance motion being introduced as there’s nothing here since April. Can it still be brought? Or is there a time limit? So very different to uk politics!
  3. Although the goalposts seem to be constantly moving and when you have assessed the original situation and find your family can fit into the parameters it is exceedingly frustrating to think politicians can play with peoples’ lives. They do it the world over and I for one am getting fed up with their arrogance.
  4. Timeframe is more 39-40months at the mo we’ve been waiting 2.75 years and nothing yet!
  5. I had a response from the leader of the Green party.... we sit and wait now.......... Dear Jacqui Thank you for your email regarding the Disallowance Motion. The Senator will table the Motion at the earliest opportunity in the Senate. Thank you for writing to Senator McKim on this matters. Regards Deb Debra Rees Head of Office Office of Nick McKim | Australian Greens Senator for Tasmania 149B Macquarie Street, Hobart 7000 |P: 03 6224 8899 SG-55 Parliament House, Canberra ACT 2600|P: 02 6277 3601
  6. We know how Clare's parents feel as we've been working in limbo for the last 18 months having originally told our employer that the wait was 18 months we are constantly having to update him on the timeline. Now he's thinking of converting the business (guest house) to flats so we'll need a job and home for a few months if the wait continues to extend. Life on hold is such a stress especially when you don't know what is happening or when!!
  7. just emailed 11 senators and MPs about the AoS changes. Hope it gets us somewhere!!
  8. our grandkids are convinced we have a house just round the corner from them ....the flat we always rent....and can't understand why we don't visit them so often. When we speak on FaceTime they think we're just up the road even when we show them it's nighttime for us when its day for them!!
  9. This is another good question because it depends on how the visa is processed. If they have steps to follow, then maybe they won't decide this until just before 2nd vac. It must be really worrying for Zaki.
  10. I don't know if living with parents would actually be the same as being dependent? especially if you are working, but can't afford to buy or rent.
  11. I’ve just looked on homelands website and there are age restrictions..... ”To include a child as migrating with you in your visa application, the child must: be your child or a stepchild from a current or a previous relationship (in certain circumstances); not be married, engaged to be married, or have a de facto partner; and must be: under 18 years of age or over 18 years of age but not yet turned 23, and be dependent on you or your partner or over 23 years of age and be unable to earn a living to support themselves due to physical or cognitive limitations and be dependent on you or your partner (Note: The child will still need to meet Australia’s health requirement) or a dependent child of a child who is eligible under 1, 2 or 3 above.”
  12. Welcome to the waiting room! Hope this forum gives you answers and ideas
  13. The 7 children don’t add a massive amount in the great scheme of things it’s the fact that their mum isn’t working but still gets included in the calculation. We might need to go to in-laws or friends or friends of friends/in-laws/family!!
  14. We were thinking of this option..just need to find friends or family! Or maybe complete strangers. Our original assurers were our son in law and daughter and their 7 children....really not an option now as daughter doesn’t work..she’s looking after the children!
  15. I guess this could happen as it's a minimum requirement. I think an even worst scenario would be if someone, who wasn't called early for their AoS, is now unable to obtain a visa. While others have sailed through under the old system. That could very well happen to us! My husband ha almost given up already!!
  16. Congrats TinaH glad it’s all finally happened and life can go back to normal again. Hoping they start moving the date soon so we can crack on and sort the mess out! ?
  17. I hate to be negative when we applied three years ago we were told 18 months so it could end up being twice as long a wait than you expect.
  18. The thing is Dutton says he wants younger immigrants well our daughter was one moved there at 19. They promoted family growth - she has four children.. just what the government suggested and now she’s penalised for wanting family support. She has no UK family support but thankfully a lovely Aussie one but she needs us as well! Politicians never think things through it’s all knee jerk!
  19. We’ve both signed and shared with family and friends in Oz! They are outraged?
  20. We have an agent but they’ve just said look at website link. Think we’ll need to contact them again as they don’t seem to be aware of exactly what this involves! Our daughter partner and children are in tears over this at the moment and we have nothing to stay in the U.K. for. Just feel completely conned and let down at the mo. Hope tomorrow allows us to regroup and get somewhere!
  21. Thanks we are starting to think about this but do children who are part time with their other parent considered as full children if you know what I mean as they don’t have to home and feed 3 of them for 5/7ths of the time and the other 4 for 1/7ths of the time? Very confusing! When you don’t have a standard family.
  22. Not sure where this leaves us as we have a daughter with 4 children 6 days a week and a partner who has 3 children 2 days a week. How on earth do we work this out? I am despairing as I don’t that we ever get toOz now they have imposed such ridiculously high figures. Our daughter and partner don’t have high paid jobs so do we give up now?
  23. Congrats and good luck in Oz ?. We’re just waiting for August to come round...hope it’s sooner rather than later! ?
