  1. My ex ex boyfriend got in Australia with a criminal record, he had GBH, assault, a string of driving offences, and with the GBH he got a 2 year suspended sentence. He had to prove he was a changed person, which to be fair to him he has changed a lot but like Bungo said its case by case basis. He had a lot to offer to oz as he was a qualified electrician. Good luck
  2. Hi, How did you get on? I'm a newly qualified radiographer and I'm going to apply for my AHPRA without air - AIR is just for professional indemnity (mainly), I'm going to work as a locum radiographer, get my years post grad - apply to air then for perm res. visa (thats the plan!!) Alex
  3. Hi, I have just applied for my police check in order to then be able to apply for AHPRA as a radiographer here in Australia!! I have been here 3 weeks and loving it. How long do police checks take to come through? I did it through Fit 2 Work as specified by AHPRA guidelines. I will be applying for AHPRA when this comes through. I will be applying for locum radiography work as a newly qualified in order to gain the years experience needed by AIR in order to then apply for my skilled visa - hopefully sponsored but this is a while off yet! It's been very exciting getting the ball rolling as only being 21 it's a massive thing coming here already as has gaining my degree.. Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with locum radiography anywhere in Australia? What is the basic pay for locums etc? Any tips/advice or even general chat about radiography/visa etc etc feel free to comment!! Alix
  4. Hey guys!!! Sorry I've not been on much. 3 weeks here have flown by, I'm having the time of my life here!! I've not got a bum bag and been using my small backpack majority of the time and had no problems with getting mugged... I guess you have to be on guard all the time though but majority of people here are nice. Weather is too hot!! So humid, been to beaches- Bondi and Manly, the zoo, then did the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk and the beaches in between, opera house etc... Drinking has seen me off!! Been hungover the majority of the time I've been here lol. Off to do my farmwork in a place called Bathurst about 2 hours away from Sydney on Wednesday.. I'll be sad to leave the hostel I've met some great people!! Will try and come on more but Rosie you have NOTHING to worry about- hostels are the best place to meet people and I've not even thought about home ever or my ex anyway!! X
  5. Ring 01732 853081 that'll get you through to their condition declare department!! Let me know how you get on x
  6. The money side I've not even worried about!! I land Friday night and Saturday I'll be looking for a job at any farm anywhere! And I've just spent 3 years being a student so I can live off £100 a month[emoji85][emoji23] Stacey give walkabout a ring! My friend has just got insurance with them and she's got conditions and she hasn't got charged anymore x
  7. They didn't say that to me on the phone when I rang them!! They said cos I was going on a one way there was nothing they could do for me because again like alpha I couldn't prove I was coming home just my word for it. I'm glad I've sorted it though
  8. I'm flying into Sydney and taking it from there. I'm only going to Sydney to see the sights! But not sure from there!! Eeeeeee
  9. I can't believe that!! I flew with Emirates to Thailand and they were fantastic!! Hence why I'm flying with them to Australia. I don't know anybody who has flown with Singapore, I'll have to give them a go at some point
  10. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I can't wait to come on here in 30 years time and tell some young naive 21 year old how it's done lol!!
  11. Tell us a story from way back in the day!!!
  12. Ooooh that's years ago lol! I'm surprised at how cheap I got it for, when I was first looking it was so expensive like £300-500 for a year!!
  13. Medicare doesn't cover me if I need to get flown home if I die, and it also doesn't cover long term care should anything serious happen
  14. I've got insurance now and it covers me for worst case, if I need an ambulance etc so I'm glad! No need to worry now and of course if my flight gets delayed etc
  15. I've just spoke to Go Walkabout. I'm going with them, £137 for a years cover and £75 excess if I need to claim! They cover me for going on a one way flight and they give me the opportunity to extend my cover whilst I'm out there for a second year if I wanted to anyway yay
  16. I'm on hold to alpha again!! I'm going to see if proof of my visa expiring after the year is proof. I don't really want to go without any but on the other hand if I die my parents can't afford to ship me home[emoji85] It'd just be Sod's law though. I'll let you know what they say
  17. Yeah basically. Majority of backpackers probs have void insurance but don't know it cos they don't have to claim!! A lot just go on Internet, find one and buy it and think they're covered! I wasn't going to bother with any in the first place so I don't think I will anyway
  18. Stacey I've given up completely with insurance!! Not even bothering with any I don't think! Finding someone to cover me even though I'm not coming home after the year is a joke - alpha phone lines are awful
  19. I can't wait. Not even scared or nervous at all, let alone worrying about anything there is no point lol! Not bothering with travel insurance either until I get out there cos I can't find one that insure even though I'm not coming back after a year!! Just can't wait to get out there now xx
  20. Next week!!!! Checked the weather and its 26 degrees wahoooooooo
  21. Oh btw- you can set up bank account in 2 mins online before you go, Tax file number and Medicare you can do when you land and SIM card you can sort out there. I wouldn't pay someone to do all that for me but the packages are good to meet people I guess or if you want a week that's planned
  22. When I booked my flight to Oz I looked and I thought they were a waste of money!! They're good for shy people and those who aren't very outgoing IMO. But if you aren't that, then get yourself into a good hostel and you'll soon meet people
  23. I got a few go pro accessories off eBay!! I got a pink floaty thing but used the proper go pro screw for it. I thought about getting a go pro POV pole but my selfie stick with a mount on it does the justice and it was only about £10!! Get a proper SD card and make sure it's 10 speed class else your videos will be corrupt. What mounts you need and accessories depend on what you want to use the go pro for! I mainly use mine for when I'm doing trips and going in the sea snorkelling etc!!
  24. I've got a medium one (hard) it's 67L which is more than enough. The large ones are 80+ L and you'll just be filling it with things you don't need. If you need anymore than 67L you're packing wayyyy to much x
