  6. Hi there, My sister is on 485 temporary visa and she is currently in Australia. Recently she got to know that she is pregnant. Was wondering, if she has to inform the immigration regarding anything? And also, any suggestions of any good insurance provider at this condition? She is currently with HIF. Thanks in advance. 7. Thanks for the answer. I don't need any benefits and I'm grateful for that. But was confused about registration requirements. Appreciate that you cleared it up for me. Cheers mate
  8. Thanks for your answer. I am currently in Australia and my status is permanent resident. This time I enrolled into university as local student at post grad level. No wife or kids. For future purposes, curious to know how do they start counting the 108 weeks?.. I assume it's after I arrived in Australia as Permanent Resident. I already registered and got the Medicare card and confused whether I have to do something similar for centrelink, plus does the previous years spent as international student count at all towards the waiting queue. Surprisingly the lady at the local medicare/centrelink point wasn't even sure about this scenario!
  9. Hi there, I just arrived in Australia this month on 189 permanent visa. I know there is a 108 week waiting period for new residents to be eligible for any centrelink benefits. My query is, do I have register somewhere for the 108 week waiting period countdown to start? Also, I stayed in Australia from 2009 till mid 2013 as international student. Then went back to my country after graduation, only to return to Australia after the 189 PR grant. Does that time period count? Thanks in advance for any information or help provided. Cheers Saad
  10. My status is considered as Permanent Resident from the date of the grant or from the date of activation ? (for offshore applicants)
  11. Hello everyone, I got the grant for 189 yesterday from offshore and my IED has to be by September 2015. My question - is my status already considered as Permanent Resident or my status will become Permanent Resident only after I make the initial entry? I checked via VEVO, it mentions - - Visa description : Permanent Visa status : In effect Location : Offshore Stay Period : Indefinite Thanks in advance. Cheers Saad
  12. Finally got the grant today.. Thanks to everyone for sharing infos all throughout this agonizing wait...
  13. Finally, Got the grant today... Applied on early May,2014...thank God the wait is finally over..
  14. Congrats mate.. Please post your time line and where are you from?
  15. Hi mithu, What I understand so far is they have referred my case for external security check as I was contacted by team 13 long time ago. Usually in these cases, the immigration can't take any decision until they get the response/clearance from external agencies. Not all bd applicants go through external check. Time-line varies a lot based on individual cases. Hope it helps.
  16. Well they say that on paper.. But after three months they kept saying they are waiting for some response from external agencies.. They can't process anything unless they get a reply!.. I understand they send applications for external check on a random basis and that's what takes so long... Worst is they don't mention is anywhere and this ruins long term planning for a look of ppl.. Patience is the virtue here...
  17. @OziBoy: do you know which team handling your case?
  18. Well been waiting for my 189 grant since early may 2014...so I am with you on this wait [emoji6]
  19. Color copies are fine... Just make sure you upload certified ones only if it's a translated copy.. Hope it helps
  20. I guess most of the April applicants got their grants... Can't believe the wait continues even though I applied in may 2014...
  21. Congrats sasanrose.. Happy for mate.. All the best

  23. Well after asking for medical in August, they only contacted in mid November to ask for two counties police clearance which expired in July. I asked why didn't they ask for this in august along with the health evidence, they had no reply. Well submitted everything by 12th of december but no updates yet!
