Sorry to hear you are still fighting, I am having 6 monthly checks and yearly scans, I will be moving to Oz in January, flights booked : ) can I ask you about services in Oz, Do you have an equivalent to our Macmillan nurses, they offer a great service to cancer patients and families in the UK.It was through them I found insures who would insure people with cancer, unfortunately for me, I still found them too expensive, only for America though, Oz and Europe prices were manageable cost wise.

Well not quite, baggage money etc was all covered, and if I had an accident ie: broke my leg, then that would have had nothing to do with cancer.I got quite a nasty tummy bug in Egypt, had to have medical intervention,no insurance issues. I read many forums on insurance issues on the UK Macmillan site,Do you have an equivalent organisation in Oz, these are our cancer nurses. The general consensus from my reading was that depending on cancer status and destination, not declaring was worth the risk, It really is so unfair that costs leap as soon as people see the C word.

Hi, I am 3 and half years on from cancer diagnosis, I love to travel and have taken many holidays since, I decided not to declare cancer on my holiday insurance as the chance of it affecting me or causing any problems was in my opinion negligible, when I priced insurance to America the cost was ridiculous,I decided if I should become unwell or discover another lump it would have been cheaper to change or renew a flight home.
  4. Hi, could you please clarify for me, can my dogs fly 180 days after bloods are taken for lab sample, or is it that they cant land in Oz til 180 days after bloods have been taken. Also does the count down start the day the blood is taken or does it start the following day.My dog had his bloods taken on the 29th July, positive result  No need to respond, I have just received a quote from you and found the answer there : )
  5. I had a similar problem, I took a brief letter explaining, I had always been known as .... to a solicitor, he signed it, cost £5.00. Accepted by immigration fine, visa granted no problem
  6. Hi, I have recently had both my dogs vaccinated, the 180 day count down starts from the day the bloods are drawn to be sent to the lab
  7. Hi, We had our Visa granted this morning, Huge relief due to my daughter's circumstances, Good luck to everyone else waiting, Hope it's not too much longer for you all.
  8. Hi, Sorry I cannot advise as I can only go on my own situation and what my agent has said. I would far rather have my daughter healthy and happy, than have a visa rushed through on medical grounds.Even though we will be allocated next week, there is still no guarantee that we will be approved, Agent said it was our 1st step before contacting the Embassy. I have photocopies from my daughters accident to her last doctor's appointment,I didnt need these for agent, maybe CO will want to see them, if not then my daughter has all the originals as these will be needed if she has to get an extension via the Embassy. I have read through most of this site and cannot see any other thread of a similar situation to mine, have you looked through to see if anyone has been in a situation similar to yours. The standard wait seems to be 3 months + and from reading other threads I have only seen 1 other from June that has been granted a visa.
  9. Hi NSB, My daughter is included on our 189, she was in full time education and as you know this is a requirement, She was due to start college this September in the UK, but obviously cannot now, October 1st is only a review date, she may have to stay a few months more ( my good friends are looking after her ), she dislocated her knee and has now got a DVT,If we are granted the 189, then she will do a TAFE course start of OZ next school year, then go to Uni. We were advised to approach Immi, before contacting the Embassy regards her situation, If we are granted the 189 sooner, this would make more sense and uncomplicate matters, so fingers crossed.I am pretty sure, re-reading our agents email, that this is the reason we will be allocated CO next week.
  10. We inquired with agent regards my daughters situation,as we know she won't be able to fly until after her tourist visa expiry date.We needed to know the correct way to go about extending it as had previously been told if we were thinking of visiting OZ after 189 application to apply for our tourist visa before submitting, agent contacted GSM Adelaide, They replied saying we would be allocated a CO next week. I think we have been bumped up the list because of this. We then had a general email from our agent saying that OZ are currently dealing with mid march applications, she added that because of our situation we will still be allocated next week.
  11. Hi, Our agent emailed this morning to tell us we would be allocated a CO next week. She contacted Immigration on our behalf as my daughter is currently in Australia on a tourist visa, she had an accident that is going to prevent her flying home before her 3 months is up. 14. Thanks both, fingers crossed and hoping it will be fine
  15. Hi, has anyone applied for a visa post cancer. I am nearly 4 years from diagnosis, now fit and healthy. Successful treatment of Breast cancer, no medication.I had my medical 5 weeks ago, took supporting documents from oncologist. The doctor at medical couldn't foresee any problems as he took what he felt was relevant paperwork from me. I am now however feeling anxious that this may cause a problem,Would be good to hear from others if they have had success in gaining approved visa.We have used an agent.
  16. My daughters are in Australia at the moment, they are mainly using free App's on their phones to keep in contact, great if you can log onto WiFi. My husband was in Oz January and he just bought an internet sim, he said it would have lasted him for months, he then used free App's to keep in contact he paid $30. Line Skype and snapchat seem to be the most popular free App@s they are good too.
  17. I have just had my 2 dogs vaccinated, they already had rabies jabs and boosters, the older dog had his lab work years ago, nowadays they only give the rabies jab, which is what my younger one had.so I have now had to have both dogs re vaccinated and lab work certs, this needs to be done well in advance of proposed travel, but not long enough that the lab work is void, I think you should ask your vet and tell vet that you are inquiring regarding emigrating to OZ.Just be sure that the vet is Govenrment approved so they can officially stamp your paperwork. The dogs cannot leave the country for atleast 180 days after bloods are taken, this is about 3 weeks after rabies jab.Im pretty sure that the lab work is then valid for up to 24 months, but double check this.
  18. I have also scrubbed and cleaned, all shoes have been scrubbed and rinsed in Jeyes fluid, I read somewhere that customs like the small of this,I have rinsed anything that has been outdoors in it too,Washing machine, tumble dryer etc have been wiped with Zaflora, basically a good strong smelling disinfectant, I just washed pans crockery as normal. Our belongings are going into storage until we hear from CO as to whether our visa gets granted.
  19. Thanks, I have looked at the link and shippers info, decided we won't take anything food wise, other than what we can fit in our luggage,So told friends and family living in OZ to stop the requests :cute: We are going to sell bikes and golf clubs as cleaning them to a standard that is required may be a challenge, not sure how much quarantine would charge if they were not satisfied that we had cleaned them thoroughly enough.
  20. Thanks, We are self packing as moving next week so everything going into a storage unit, until we know whats happening regarding visa,I have used Jeyes fluid on all shoes, packed them into one large holdall,Have gone through every box, not one item from prohibited list in there. It is probably not worth the hassle of putting food stuff in,Won't miss it enough to be really bothered, would have just been nice to have the odd thing I know I can't get over there,All this assuming we are granted the visa
  21. Hi, Would it be right to assume that the shippers would know exactly what can and cannot go into the shipping container, I have holidayed in Australia many times and taken over food items for family and friends, so I am aware of what is and is not allowed, I was hoping that if we are granted our 189 visa,( applied for in June 2014) that I could put in some food items (larger sized) that I know are allowed in hand luggage. All our boxes would be itemized.
  22. Hi, when I took the smaller dog, my vet said the older one was fine, Its my own fault for not researching thoroughly beforehand,he had his last booster May 2012, as it stands I am taking him to the vets for his rabies jab this evening,This has caused a delay of at least a month, no big problem really. Thanks for replying
  23. Hi , I have looked on the Aus gov site and it says Three (3) yearly rabies vaccinations are acceptable. As my older dog has had all his booster rabies does this mean that he is fine or still needs the full process repeated, his next rabies booster would be due next year,
  24. Thanks BobPetair I emailed Petairuk last night , I am slightly annoyed as my older dog could have had this done the same time as my other one,but my vet told me that as he had his lab work cert he didn't need it,will aim to get his jab today. : (
  25. Thanks both,May be easier to reschedule our leaving time,I have emailed a few pet shippers, will see what they say.
