  1. thanks keith. I've just been speaking with a broker. he reckons the interest rates here are going to be cut through april and may which will make the pound stronger. I'm going to to pop into HSBC in melbourne as thats who i banked with back home and see if they can help out
  2. Hi Guys. i just went back to the UK for a visit and bought the remainder of my UK money back to oz with me, I've bought it as cash and want to exchange to Aus $ now. does any one know the best place to do this? the pound isn't very strong at the moment, would it be worth holding on to for a while, I'm thinking maybe i should have left it in my UK account now but never mind. ideas? thanks
  3. the second police check was through acro.pnn.police.uk cost about 10pounds and took 40 days to come through. can't believe they keep all this i thought it would wipe from my history after 5 years
  4. im not really sure. i had an agent do my application. he asked me and i told them about them straight away. he said lets see what comes back and it said no live trace so i had to get the more in depth report to show what they are
  5. Hi Guys. im in the very final stages of my PR visa now. my criminal background check came back with No live trace. when i was a teenager, some 12 years ago i recived 2 cautions and two reprimands. possession of x 2 criminal damage (kicking a light) in possession of an offensive weapon. i was really surprised i still had them on my record. any ways I've submitted it all with a stat dec to state its only cautions and 12/13 years old when i was immature, now I'm a reformed character. what do you think the chances are of them knocking it back? I've been fully honest with it all. thanks

    Police caution

thanks guys. to be honest i can't see the point in my declaring it. I'm paying the police to give me report on what they have about me, its a minor caution for a class c drug from when i was still under 18 so may not even be on record anymore. if they do find it I'm sure i can say i didn't even realise i had a caution for it an thought it was just a verbal warning. who remembers such trivial information from 13 years ago!
  7. Hi Guys, I've been living in Australia for over two years now on a 457 visa. I'm now applying for the 189 via the points system. i had a police check when i originally came over and had no issues, i now need to do another for the 189 visa with the ACRO police check. i have a caution for possession of canabis from about 13 years ago when i was 17. pretty sure if won't be an issue as i had no convictions. any ideas if it will be ok? Kind regards Kristian
  8. thanks for the replies guys. I've applied for a deed poll letter, ill take it to a solicitor once I've received it, its only two different spellings of the same name so hopefully won't be to much of a problem. fingers crossed
  9. not sure how i got my passport, my parents just got it for me when i was a kid. never thought anything of it until some mentioned the immigration will pick up on. I've been researching deed poll but it doesn't look to professional to be honest. not sure just a note would be enough to cover it though thanks
  10. Hi Guys. i am about ti lodge my EOI as a general electrician. i have 65 points and all the documents i need but my birth certificate states my name as Christian while my passport and all my documents states Kristian. i have never used Christian but never thought to get the birth certificate changed. I've been told i need to do it by deed poll now but not sure how to do this or weather it will be sufficient. has any one else had to deal with this? thanks
