  1. I received PR Visa 3 and half years after a cancer diagnosis, I took a positive letter from my oncologist to the medical.
  2. Hi, My 2 dogs arrived in Sydney January just gone. My youngest dog had separation anxiety from me.They both actually made the journey in better condition than myself.I used a great pet shipping company, when they arrived in quarantine I phoned and was told that they had settled well. When I was reunited with them they had lost a little weight which I had anticipated but settled well within a short time.
  3. Have a look on Parcel Monkey, I used them in January, posted over 2 boxes total weight 28 kg price about £120. They arrived within a week
  4. Hi, I lived in Aberdare for 20 years, moved away for a few years, then back to Hirwaun for 6 months before I moved here.
  5. Hi, thanks Johndoe, I see we are in the same location, this happened at Sandgate. I was walking my 2 small dogs at low tide, always see people and their dogs in the sea, I assumed it was safe, I actually stood on the stingray, the porter said they feed on the small crabs in the shallow sand banks there. I have no sign of infection thankfully, just wanting foot to heal so I can stop hobbling about the place.
  6. What's slime coat......
  7. Hi, Thanks, the porter rushed to get me a heat pack then told doctors to put my foot in hot water, the relief from the heat worked better than the morphine. I was given a tetanus jab and antibiotics. hopefully it will settle down soon : (
  8. Hi, Has anyone been stabbed by a Stingray ? It happened to me 2 weeks ago, was the most excruciating pain of my life, still have lots of pain swelling and discomfort in my foot, was wondering how long approx it will take to heel properly. I had to go to the hospital at the time, I was a curio as aside from the porter not one other member of staff including doctors had seen one.
  9. I shipped 4 UK tv's over and they all work fine
  10. Hi. I sent 2 boxes over in January they both weighed 14 kg and cost around £60 each with insurance, both boxes arrived to Oz within a week. I used Parcel Monkey
  11. Hi, My husband had his OU Diploma recognised without any problems, good luck
  12. Hi, I shipped my 2 small dogs over in January. I used Golden Arrow and their service was excellent, Petair and Golden Arrow seem to be the most popular shippers from all the comments I read before I decided who to use. My decision was based on location of shippers to me and cost, Both companies appear to provide a excellent service. I was not confident enough to arrange the move myself, actually stressed more about my dogs making the move then my family.Good luck
  13. Hi, both my dogs are good eaters, I just knew they would lose weight due to the stress, I phoned quarantine a couple of times whilst they were there and had good reports on them, so that helped settle me a bit. I used Golden Arrow, they were excellent, very helpful and their premises are in a stunning location, when we arrived my dogs ran and played in the orchard for half hour, then we took them into their kennel which was heated and directly opposite a beautiful lake, the staff were really lovely so I was happy with my choice of pet shipper, I made my choice based on feedback info, price and location.
  14. Hi, I shipped my 2 dogs over this January, Jack Russell and Yorkie/Jack x , I was so worried and anxious during the lead up to departure and until I saw them again. They were fine .Both lost a kilo each, but I anticipated this so fattened them up before they left, they settled within a couple of days.
  15. We paid the £35 insurance, it was a recommended option by the shippers, I had read on here somewhere that a person got charged stupid money to have their container cleaned by customs. don't read about it happening much, couldn't be doing with the hassle or expense if we were unlucky enough to have been charged by customs.
  16. Could you not scan all or most of your paperwork and put them onto a pen drive, that way you will have copies of most of it, reducing any paperwork you may need to bring with you, plenty of places you can go to print it off whilst here
  17. My brother shipped his car over in the same container as his personnel belongings and some furniture, the car was a convertible but he still filled it with what he could. That was 15 years ago, not sure if regulations will have changed or not, but talking to shippers will advise. I came over on a 189 visa, no proof of funds were needed for this , I am not certain but think it's different for some other visa's
  18. After all the costs incurred to get us here, we had virtually nothing left in the bank, was a little worrying especially as initially hubby didn't even have a job, but we had a choice of friends or family in 2 different locations to stay with until we got sorted so this was a massive plus. We didn't have to show bank funds or in our case the lack of them to anyone thankfully. : ))))
  19. Hi Peachy, We have been in Brisbane a couple of months now, went through the same stress anxiousness you are describing. We also brought 2 dogs over ( I would not have made the move without them ) and a full 20 ft container. The expense from beginning of process to getting here was extortionate, but ultimately worth it.My husband arrived a couple of months before me with £1000 to his name, he stayed with friends and luckily got a job the same week, rubbish money but atleast it helped him save, He relocated to Brisbane when I arrived, applied for another job and got that, much better pay etc, we stayed with my brother for the 1 st week moved into a house the following week just in time for my dogs to arrive. On facebook I have joined a couple of the Swap Sell Buy sites, they are closed groups and definitely worth having a look at,where I live people post local activities etc, I often see cars for sale too, they have to put a pic of Rego and Roadworthy up if the car has it, You can buy a good 2nd hand car from what I have seen from around $5000, but obviously that would depend on what you consider a good buy.
  20. Hi Hardsuction, We have settled in fine, if there is anything I can help with just ask
  21. Forgot to add, only took 5 days to arrive
  22. Hi, I also had too much to squeeze into my baggage, I posted over 2 boxes weighing 14kg each so total weight 28kg, cost £144 including £7 insurance, through Parcel Monkey, much cheaper than paying for extra baggage, boxes were collected from my UK house and delivered to my brothers house in Brisbane.

    Townsville

My friend is a mental health nurse in Townsville hospital, he and his family moved over from Wales 5 years ago, they love it there, I have been 3 times over the years. They got married on Magnetic Island last year, it was really beautiful a lovely place to visit and only a short cheap ferry ride, they live in Kirwin, very near to the hospital. We have driven up to Cairns from Townsville only took around 4 hours. My youngest girl is currently living in a suburb called Idilia, she really likes it there. My husband was in Townsville from November to January, he had a job there as we initially thought that's where we would settle for a while, he just said something very important to consider when looking at suburbs is, are they on a flood area, I really liked Saunders beach and Pallaranda but if they flooded he wouldn't have been able to get to work, My friends youngest is now 18 so I can.t remember much about school situation, but she has worked with the education authority etc so if you let me know the ages of your children I can ask her which schools she would recommend as and why.
  24. Actual price £598 return per person.
