  1. Bristol isn't too bad really but they spread it across two days. They do the speaking tests on Friday evenings. Saying that tho I live less than a kilometre from the bristol test centre I'm still going to drive for an hour and a half to burton to take my test there in a weeks time. Just a nicer atmosphere
  2. I did my first test In bristol and there was at least 60/70 people there! It took so long to register everyone and get going. I took my second in burton, much smaller turn out of about 14 people and the staff running it are super friendly. I got an email from vetassess today telling me they have received the extra documents I sent them two weeks ago. I know there has been Easter holidays but they do not work fast
  3. I might be wrong but I'm sure 21 gets him 30 points. Hardest was the writing but It was the reading I failed on last time.
  4. So I think 7s will get 10 points which puts me up to 65 points. If I get 8s I will have 75 points. I have pretty much the minimum experience needed so I get 10 points for experience 15 for occupation 30 for age. (I'm 27) There is so much IELTS stuff online even just in YouTube. Just familiarise your self with the structure of each test.
  5. It's not too bad to be honest. As chefs we just need 7s in each band. The first time I failed because I didn't know how they wanted me to write an essay. The second time I failed for what I can only say as lack of concentration. There is I thread on here somewhere with loads of info, I just can't figure out how to link you to it
  6. Have any of you guys taken the IELTS yet? If not, you will need to. There is a few alternatives tho. Have mooch around on here for info about them, but my advice would be to start taking the test early.

I think it's a bit more expensive now but you should be fine with 5k that's a dream amount! If your willing to do abit of work you will breeze through it. I did ok, but I did a lot of work and not much holiday. I delivered the yellow pages, picked strawberrys, peppers, courgettes, grapes, watermelons, built office chairs, worked in Thredbo on the lifts, folded up paper for architects. I pretty much did it all just to get by. Also cleaning hostels for free accommodation is something I would recommend if your planning to stay somewhere for more than 2-3 weeks. 2 hours of pretty easy work.

Errrm, not really. I went to Australia very naive. I did pretty much 0 research and I didn't know anyone who had been before. It was kind of a weird situation, I wasn't too fussed about going but I agreed to go with a friend as I had nothing better to do. He left to go back home after 2 weeks of arriving in Oz and I stayed for the full 2 years.

For what exactly, working holiday or permanent migration? Sorry, I should read. I went with £800, but I couldn't afford to ever do anything of the expensive fun stuff
  10. Sounds about right! I'll keep you up dated. I am led to believe that you need to have a lvl 2 certificate for first aid in the work place that covers cuts and burns. Yup it's the 189 for me too. Where are you planning to go once your out there ?
  11. It takes for too long... Just make sure he has a first aid certificate as well. My agent forgot to tell me I needed it. Luckily my work out me through it, otherwise it's very expensive (I'm guessing your going for skilled independent visa?)
  12. They needed more info on the person who certified my documents. He was in China for that last 3 weeks so I'm guessing, They tried to contact him and couldn't get through. I sent all my documents on around the 10th of jan. I got charged after about 8 weeks. Then on the 10th week I hassled my agent and magically the next day I heard back from them. I guess we just have to be patient. I will try and update this thread for you as I seem to be a few weeks ahead of your application and it would be nice if you could do the same. There isn't much info on here for chefs, so we can help each other out.
  13. Well.. It's taken 11-12 weeks for me to hear back from vetassess. And that was just them asking for more paper work which I sent to them last week. If your talking about the practical skills assessment, please please please tell me all about it.
  14. Newcastle is a good shout from the people who have suggested it. But, it is not immune from extreme weather !! Any one remember this?
  15. Ahhh mine were available at midnight from burton college. They said the same this time too
  16. I'm planning on settling in the Sunshine Coast as well. seems like it's going to be busy place with us all heading there. Feel free to rent me a room when I arrive. Haha
  17. I think it's ok. It was on the list of stuff I sent to my agent Unless I'm about to be the victim of identity theft!
  18. As soon as it hit 10 weeks I kept bothering my agent. Funnily enough 2 days later, they emailed me saying they needed the odd bit of paper work.
  19. You need to to be assessed by the TRA or VETASSESS first. But it's not that simple, I would advise contacting a migration agent.
  20. Old thread... But anybody else waiting? I was charged by them a month ago but still haven't heard anything. It will be 10 weeks tomorrow.
  21. I needed 4 payslips per year for every year of experience I was claiming to have. You can get your certificates certified by anyone who is in the public sector I believe.. I got mine signed by a friend who is a business owner. Must state that this was for vetassess not for TRA.
  22. Have checked its still even on there? http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/criminal-records-wiped-clean-thousands-4028662
  23. Yup... Plus the extra £150 to take the test again
  24. Fair enough.. I only did a little research into getting remarked and felt it wasn't worth it. I also don't think they realise that most of us do not have 3 months to spare when waiting for a remark.
