  1. So if I get an invite, let's say early November. If all goes well, do you think I will have a grant by Christmas?
  2. Around the 10th September. So I'm guessing I'm right at the back of the Que..
  3. Anybody have any idea wether I will get an invite? Occupation-chef Points-60
  4. No probs. just get your husband to start collecting payslips and a long list of past jobs references.
  5. If you get a positive outcome from your visa agent, get your husband to make sure he has a first aid certificate. Not having this delayed my application by 6 weeks. Try wouldn't release my vetassess results until they were happy with the course I took. I sent off all my documents on the 1st feb and I got a positive skills assessment 10 days ago. But like I said I lost 6-7 weeks in messing around with the first aid stuff. Make sure he qualifies as a chef as well. There is a difference between applying for a chef or as a cook. In aus only management lvl chefs are classed as chefs... For example. Sous chefs Head chefs Exec chefs Any position under these will be classed as a cook Chef de parti Demi chef Commis
  6. Any body know how many chefs got through this month And with how many points. Or even how many rounds they waited for an invite? Thaaaanks
  7. Hahahaha... As long as your pissing down wind you should be perfectly fine . I guess I was just pointing out that even with very little to worry about, there is still an element of doubt.
  8. Exactly, but there are still doubts. But thats only natural.
  9. I'm absolutely cacking my pants about it. But Im guessing that's normal. However, I seem to have a lot less to lose than you. I don't have a wife or a dog. I don't have a great paying job.I don't have lots of money or a house to lose. So no matter what your situation is, I'd imagine everyone has doubts at some point.

    Criminal offences

Ahh ok. I just thought with it being an under 18 issue and over 10 years ago it would be fine.. Thanks for clearing this up for me.!

    Criminal offences

Ok cool. The last one I had done said no convictions to discuss, You know when you think you might have a stupid mark against your name...I'm pretty confident it's going to come back clean. "A conviction received as a young offender resulting in a non-custodial sentence will be filtered from criminal records checks after five and a half years. An adult conviction resulting in a non-custodial sentence will be filtered out from CRB checks after eleven years." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/9955603/CRB-changes-mean-teachers-doctors-nurses-and-youth-leaders-will-not-have-to-disclose-minor-criminal-convictions.html

    Criminal offences

What about an offence that occurred under the age of 18 and when received on a crb check, it comes back as "no criminal convictions to discuss" ?
  16. No I haven't. I didn't know o could. I've done this through my visa agent. I'm going to check it out now tho. Vetassess do seem to take their time over things!
  17. No my agent hasn't said anything. I've been waiting so long to get the results of my practical exam since sending off my first aid certificate. It's starting to annoy me!
  18. Well at least for last years list chefs was definitely vetassess, I'm still waiting the out come of my practical exam. This is the first I've heard of any changes like that..My agent hasn't mentioned any changes for the assessors. Now I'm scared
  19. When I comes to paying for everything.. VISA, flights... It's a very expensive "try it for a year"
  20. Im going alone. No-one to rely on me and no-One to rely on. Now your on your own, what do you have to lose? Go for it mate.
  21. Just use the practice papers on the ielts website and read up on how they want you to structure the essay.. Arguments for aguments against then a summery of your thoughts. That got me a 7.5 and I don't even know what grammar is. I found burton as the best test centre, maximum of about 18 people so it just feels like there is less pressure. It took me 2 times to pass. Just don't under estimate or over complicate it. Good luck
  22. Do you have the option of taking the holiday home later on in the year? Personally I would land in Queensland, travel and work your away around. By doing this you will meet loads of people and have loads of fun. Once you have had enough of shitty fruit picking and you've done your 3 months for the second year visa then, I would think about taking up that holiday let. After being in the back packer scene for a abit, you will love the chance to get out of it for a while. Hope that makes sense

    Funds

Not a massive spender haha. It all depends on when/where I get a job if I need a car straight away. Weather I house share or try and find a place I can afford on my own from the start or not. Just going to take it all in my stride.
