  1. Does anybody know if it means four years, but being able to leave the country for x-months for each year? Or has that not been announced? I couldn't find anything. My concern isn't having to wait a further three years, it's not being able to spend enough time with my Grandma who is 92 in the UK. I thought I would be able to leave as soon as I got my citizenship for a few months, then return back to Australia. Now i'm worried I'm stuck here for too long.
  2. That sounds like more evidence that what my partner and I supplied and ours took 9 months but we applied offshore. Oh yeah and our case officer asked for more information within 2 months of receiving our application - she didn't think we had included our passport page copies, she quickly wrote back once she found them. So if you haven't heard anything, it's probably a good thing! Good luck with it!

  4. TomasMykal, I use my Citibank card everywhere and don't get charged any foreign transaction fees. It is really good for me to use in Thailand and Philippines where there is a charge for any foreign card to use an ATM. I just use the Citibank ATMs and miss out on this charge. Yeah, I think you have free international transfers. I was going to open up a Citibank account in the UK but the one I was looking at had a monthly account keeping fee so I didn't.
  5. Hi Quoll, I have a British passport so that base is already covered.
  6. We're headed to Sydney and Melbourne. We both loved Melbourne but most of my family are in Sydney, so we'll divide our time between the two cities. Are you in Brisbane at the moment Cal?
  7. Hey all! Does anyone have any recommendations for good temp agencies for office work in Sydney?
  8. Hey all! My partner (Brit) and I (Aussie) are waiting for his de facto visa to come through before we can move back to Oz for a while. He lived in Oz for a year on a WHV. We've been travelling for the last year and half and applied for his de facto visa while we were back in the UK. We work while we are on the road, I guess you could call us digital nomads. I'm looking forward to returning home and seeing family and friends again but it's going to be hard settling back into a life of routine and full time work. At the moment we are playing the waiting game, we applied for his visa almost 9 months ago and we're getting itchy feet...
  9. Hey all I've got a Australian Citibank bank account and it's great, no fees and no foreign transaction fees when I'm overseas, but I didn't realise before that they do free transfers between Citibank accounts overseas as well. This could save you a ton of money if you have a Citibank account in the UK and want to send money back and forth. A lot of aussie banks charge monthly bank account keeping fees but here are some others that don't, they still charge foreign transaction fees though: ING NAB Bendigo Bank I'm sure there are more but I haven't banked with them. And here's some info on banks that are part of a Global ATM bank alliance and shouldn't charge you fees when using their ATMs overseas... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_ATM_Alliance
  10. Congrats Mary!! That's such exciting news!! Dave and I applied for our 309/100 application from the London office the same day as you - 2nd July 2013 but we've heard nothing. Did you get any indication that you were in the final queue? We've submitted police checks and medicals (beginning of October) with no problems but our case office has said not to contact her with any questions until after April. We're hoping that in April we'll have a date. I've heard that some people get an idea of when it will be approved. I'd love to know soon, as I want to be home for my mum's birthday in May and I have no idea if it will be approved in time. Thanks!
