  1. With respect to the names of courses/employers: I don't think they'll be an issue so long as the points you've claimed in the EOI tally up to be the same as what you put in the visa app. Over-claiming, so far as I can tell, will get your app rejected. Relating to the citizenship; it sounds as though, at the time, what you put was correct. This is perhaps something they'll query but since you can demonstrate the reason of the discrepancy (i.e.: change in circumstances), might be ok.
  2. I don't use Pinterest, but thank you.
  3. I wonder if anyone on here has taken any astronomical photographs or the like in Perth? I figure you'd get clearer skies in WA than you would here in Scotland; and I know the observatory in Perth gives some great possibilities.
  4. Lodged my visa on Wed 25th and have booked medical for next week. Here's hoping Re: the statuses changing to 'received' mines also did this for the docs I uploaded on day of submission. I also had the app change part-way through that day to then request medical stuff (which, I suspect, is automated).
  5. Depending when the job took place in relation to the end of your studies, you may not get any points for it anyway. But as stated the sector the company is in should have no bearing on the outcome of a skills assessment -- it is the duties that you perform that matter.
  6. I think that seems awfully optimistic. Usual processing is indicated to be 3 months so that's quite some rush if it ever did happen in just 1 week (~90% faster than normal). On the other hand.. my EOI invite was turned around in 16 hours.
  7. Yes, I think for simplicity I will stick with the ACS dates. If the CO is concerned about real start dates then the job references will provide this.
  8. Hi, Hope someone can help clarify for me. In my EOI, since the ACS specified specific dates for the employment to be considered relevant, I used their start dates and also marked my prior job as not relevant, as the start date fell outside of the ACS date. This meant I really only had 3 yrs of 'claimable' experience, despite having technically 6yrs of commercial experience. I got my visa invite and am filling in the visa app now. When it come to the employment section it's slightly different though, because it also allows you to explicitly state how many years of skilled employment you're claiming. Does this mean that I should be using my actual start dates in the employment section? And, for my prior job, as it falls outside of the ACS date range (though they recognise it as related), should I continue to flag it as not related?
  9. I bought the official Cambridge Press book: http://www.cambridge.org/gb/cambridgeenglish/catalog/cambridge-english-exams-ielts/official-cambridge-guide-ielts/official-cambridge-guide-ielts-students-book-answers-dvd-rom .. it comes with a DVD, too. It definitely helped me get the score I wanted; has good practice tests and pointers on what to look out for.
  10. I sat the IELTS twice in order to push my points from 10 to 20 as I was only going to get 60 overall migration points if I stuck with my first score. Since you think you've failed; I would tend to go with my feeling in these kinds of situations, so I'd say you need give yourself more practice on the reading before attempting a further re-sit.
  11. [EDIT] It's ok I resolved my own query by looking through the docs on the EOI pages. It tells you what to choose in the help links.
  12. Got my positive skills assessment back today ? .. so that was 4 weeks, almost to the day for me.
  13. Did you have to do that after your grant? I'm confused about where that fit into your timeline.
  14. Your time frame is impressively quick! To think that it could all be agreed before Christmas is crazy.
  15. Ok, thanks all. I'll just have to assume it'll take the full 12 weeks then .. I was hoping to lodge my EOI before 1st July, but fingers crossed nothing major changes then!
  16. Hi all, Just wondering what everyone else experienced with regard to ACS assessing their skills? I've been waiting 4 weeks thus far. I know it says 12 weeks but I (hoped) thought this was just a conservative estimate. Anyone else share how long their assessment took with ACS? Waiting is killing me! I don't want to/can't submit EOI until I get the result through.
  17. My sister lives in Perth and has told me the costs she's paying for various things. There is a website; http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Australia&city=Perth .. but I have no idea how accurate that is. Some of the figures tie with what I know to be true. I'm not sure about why you were shocked/unprepared, but I completely expect to start buying everything from scratch. I don't intend on brining over much more than clothing and a huge chunk of cash to get me started.
  18. Certainly for the ACS they indicate quite clearly that they will not accept a reference from a junior colleague on your behalf.
  19. I dunno but that sounds like fairly major flaw. Presumably they'd consider your application differently if you're already an Australian citizen than if you're not. If you lodge it unchanged, and it gets rejected (which to be fair, I think it should), you'll lose your Visa application fee.
  20. Thank you, I kind of thought this would be the case. I'd be doing software development. (Developer Programmer 261312).
  21. Hi, I wondered what the consensus on this might be. I'm wondering whether people who have received 189 visa grants went on to apply for jobs before they moved to Australia or not? I have family in Perth, so I know that if/when I get over there I will at least have somewhere I can stay for a while which would let me look for work, if I chose not to get a job prior to flying out. On the other hand, the idea of not having a job to go to is a bit unsettling - but I'm unclear how easily one would be able to apply for a job from here. Are employers receptive to immigration applicants? Thanks.
  22. Perfect, thanks for the information. I'm waiting for my ACS assessment to complete just now, and I re-sat my IELTS for the 20 pts. As an aside, can you recall how long your ACS stuff took to come through?
  23. When does the program year reset? I must've misread; I thought it was March 2015?
  24. Thanks; my skill is ANZSCO 261312, but it explains what the guy was perhaps talking about, cheers.
