Hi, I recently say my IELTS and was speaking to a guy who said he was told by his agency that he would need 70 points to be considered for a 189 Visa as a Software Engineer. I'm choosing Developer Programmer as my skill, but it's a fairly similar role. I've just submitted my ACS and, if I get my 20 points for IELTS, I'll have 70 points based on experience and degree, or 60 if I only get 10 points for IELTS. Has anyone came across this information about not having a good chance without 70 points? Thanks.

I'm wondering if you could confirm how many points you had? I'm curious as to how points correlate to the time taken to process. I'm sending my 189 EOI soon and I will only have 60 points.

Hi all, I'm in the process of kicking off my application process for 189 visa; applied for my IELTS today. I'm looking into the ACS assessment I need and note they want a reference from my current employer. At the moment my employer has no idea, of course, that I'm looking and I wonder what experiences folk have had with this? I've been there 4 years so there is not so much of a concern of dismissal or the like. I'm just wondering how late I can leave this? I'd ideally not want to tell them, but if I must. Cheers.
