  1. Yes, have just had frenzied anxious conversation with fiance, he reckons that as UK diploma is more substantial that Aussie diploma, may be accepted as equivalent? So many questions but no answers!! I feel sick just thinking about it.
  2. I know - i found the link to the AQF pretty useless. I clicked on the home link and downloaded the AQF second edition document. It's on page 17 or 18 I think. I didn't go through ANMAC, just wanted to get my registration sorted with AHPRA and then apply for jobs with 457 sponsership. This feels like an unbelievably massive spanner thrown in the works!! I've posted an enquiry on the AHPRA website but don't hold out much hop[e of a usefull answer. Looks like diploma qualified nurses may only be eligible for enrolled nurse registration.
  3. That's awful! I've just read the update on AHPRA website from 10th February, stating that "Your overseas qualification is equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree (registered nurse) as a minimum", on the AQF website the advanced diploma is a level 6, whereas the bachelor degree is a level 8. Will this change things for diploma registered nurses already registered and working out there? What about the years of experience us diploma nurses have gained, regardless to the credits we lack?!
  4. Hi, i'm looking for some advice... I completed my AHPRA registration document, sent it off along with all supporting information etc. on 27/01/2014 to the Darwin office as I've heard registration times there are much shorter. I'm now wondering when i'll hear anything - will they let me know they've received my application? Or will the first thing I know be the money taken from my account? I've never been so keen for money to leave my bank account!! I know I haven't left it long, but I'm excited and feeling a little helpless now it's all out of my hands!! Any experiences in this area would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Alex x
  5. A bit of background info: I've been qualified for 4 years, the majority of my experience is in orthopaedic trauma, however I am currently working in the community. Myself and my boyfriend are planning on living and working in Australia for a period of about 3 years - originally we were unsure of the length of stay and the working holiday 417 seemed ideal, however there are restrictions on the period of time you are able to work for one employer, and the regional work to extend the visa for a second year seemed unsettling, hence us leaning towards the 457. (My parents are currently out on a 457 visa and have been for the past two years - coming home for good this Christmas).
  6. Originally we were thinking of a working holiday visa, then changed our minds as would like to me a bit more settled and secure, so looking at sponsorship with a 457 x
  7. Thanks to everyone for their help! I knew it would be a long process, I think that's why I've been dragging my feet with the formalities and paperwork! But I'm desperate to get out there and start working. Better get my arse into gear and get the ball rolling I guess!!
  8. So if I decide not to do the IELTS would I apply to ANMAC straight away? Thanks for the reply x
  9. Hi, I'm a registered nurse planning on making the big move to Oz all being well next summer with my partner. I've just started looking into the registration paperwork for the AHPRA, and to be quite honest, it's giving me a headache! (Maybe why I've been putting it off for so long...) I have several questions, hopefully someone who's been through the process may be able to shed some light on the subject? The application asks for my priciple place of practice. Do I state my UK work address? It does ask for Australian principal place of practice, but I obviously don't have one as yet. IELTS - Will I need to do this? I have completed all of my education in England, and it states on my university certificate that the nursing course was taught in English. Thaks for any help and advice in advance :wubclub: Alex
