  1. Our 2 years area nearly up and we will soon be in a position to lodge our 887 Permanent Visa and just wanted to check the requirements that we have to live in South Australia for 2 years and work for 1 year full time and that means all of us a family of 4 need to have lived here for 2 years in order to be eligible for 887 visa? We have both work full time now for over1 year and children have been at school and working part time too, is anyone in similar position to lodge theirs of know how long it takes to get Permanent Visa 887?
  2. We have just sold ours and booked 1 way flights to SA for 13 April, we wanted to have money to fall back on and will be buying another house in SA as soon as we settle, did not want to rent out our home as we already have 3 properties we let and the state some people have left our rentals, letting out our main house was not an option for me!!
  3. We are starting off in Port Noarlunga so if still available I will pm you nearer the time we are due to fly out, thanks again.
  4. Do you have any photos of car and what part of Adelaide are you in?? We are due out in 4 weeks time and need a car I have just sold mine here and would be interested.

  6. Hi Elly, My girls are due to fly to Melbourne on 15 April and I am using Pet Air as I thought it would be easier as I did not want the worry of organising the dogs and everything else at the same time, we will be driving from Adelaide to Melbourne to collect them!! Whereabouts are you moving to in Adelaide?? Bal.
  7. Hi Jen, We too are using Petair and hope to be moving end of April/may as we have just sold house etc and are moving to Adelaide but the nearest place our dogs can go to is Melbourne where we plan to drive to when they are ready to be collected. Pet air are fab and go through everything step by step, I started the process last May and could do no more until now as soon as we got visa and house sold!! Any problems/queries they are on end of email, look on internet. If I can help further please let me know, we are shipping our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Maltese terrier x Shitzu over as we think they will help us to settle and really could not live without. Bal xx
  8. We paid nearly £1200 just before Xmas for a family of 4, well worht the money when you get your Visa and I presume you are nearly there!!
  9. I wonder whether anyone can help me we have just been granted our 489 Visa and looking for schools and colleges for our children and want to know if on a 489 Visa my 13 year old son can go to any school he wishes in South Australia and also if my 17 daughter can go to TAFE to do a course she wants to do?? The reason I am asking this questions is we were originally going to Western Australia on a 489 but hubbys job came off skills list so we are now going to SA but have friends we met on forums in WA now and she has told me there are alot of pitfalls on the 489 visa when it comes to schooling her children cannot go to the private schools there and her son cannot do an apprenticeship on 489 and her daughter cannot go to TAFE there either. So I just wanted some clarification for South Austrialia please!! Bal

  19. Hi Gareth, Please see below my timeline, not sure how much it will help but patience is not my strong point either and with Xmas and New Year on its way I believe it slows down a little bit more with more staff on leave etc, it will be 6 weeks on Wed since our Agent subbmitted our main visa and we were told that we should get a case office within 6-8 weeks so fingers crossed it shoudl be very soon, but I will post when we get a Case Officer. Good Luck with everything and please let me know if I can answer any other questions. Bal.
  20. You are not on your own there are alot of people out there like you!!! 40 was our wake up call hubbys not mine I have wanted to do it for 20+ years, he reached 40 and said Yes lets do it!!!! And we only have out medicals to do now and then just wait ............ that is the hardest part for me the waiting .......
  21. With that determination, you will get there hun xx
  22. Thanks again Fifi, we will get there and we know it not going to be easy, but not 100% happy here something is missing in our lives and we need to go and try this xx
  23. Hi Fifi, I think I did read your story on Peth Poms as Osmond 8 had the same problem and there was me giving her my sympathy, only to find myself in her boat a few months later, I had at that time joined Poms In adelaide and wrote a thread on my 16 year old daughter and had numerous responses from some lovely people, well after the explosion nearly 4-6 weeks ago, she explained to her friends she did not want to go (because of the boyfriend!) and went to visit her aunt and cousin who she is very close to and they all said you must go and validate your visa when you get it and try it!! I in the meantime thought reverse psychology and said thats it we stop here and we are not going any further forward and she said to me but mom its your dream to move to oz, to which I replied yes and if we dont all want to go together then we dont go at all!! A few days later she aplogised and is now back on board, but hubby and me have both said to expect it to happen again nearer the time!! Any advice Fifi please let me know. Bal xx
  24. Very interesting Steve, probly wont hear anything now lol!!
  25. OMG I had a phone call too last week with regards to an application we had sent last year, but I missed the call so in the meantime they must have rang hubby who said its ok as we are nearly at the end of our Visa process we would be wasting your time!! :arghh: In in the meantime I got a voice mail and called them (Kerry) and she said we have spoke to you hubby and he thinks it would not be worth you going on show etc etc!! I said no we would still be interested if we were eligible etc etc!! She said have a think about it and I will call you on Monday, which I thought meant she was fobbing me off!! In the meantime I said to hubby why do you say you were not interested he said he did not want to go on TV!! Not expecting to hear anymore Kerry called me back 5pm this Monday and said are you still interested to which I said yes we are but things have changed since last November as hubby job not on WA now and we are now going to SA and 16 year old daughter decided last month as she has new boyfriend that she does not want to go now and hubby feels torn too now!! So as Steve says there's more chance of us being picked now as 12 months ago we would have been the boring family that all wanted to go now we are probably 50/50!!! So we will wait and see what happens next, Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!!
