  1. I've only been to Tasmania once (Xmas 2012) and I really enjoyed walking around Dove Lake, and also Bay of Fires was beautiful and peaceful! Didn't see much of Hobart sadly but hope to return to TAS soon :cute:
  2. you upload the docs into the immi account of the person applying and the documents are categorised between applicant and sponsor. When you upload the documents, you can see that you'll be prompted to give them a category, and I also named mine to reflect accordingly (ie, statutory declaration by sponsor - ABC Jones). it's hard to explain without seeing the immi account but it should be fairly simple once you get going.
  3. I would change the essential mail to parents' address and try to cancel most other things (ie, Tesco club card etc etc!). I've used the redirect a few times and it's not at all reliable, therefore not a good idea to use for bank/finance correspondence. Also, you'd have to rely on the tenants keeping your mail safe (if I were a tenanct, I would be happy to do this if asked, but in my experience, a lot of people just don't give a sh*t!).
  4. I always got 25 days + bank holidays. I seem to recall that the statutory minimum is 20 days holiday + bank holidays, with public/education sector generally bring more generous with around 27+ days holiday.

    Form 80

I can't remember what I did for mine, but having most recent, first, would seem the only way to do it for addresses and travel locations.
  6. Yes there are a few 'keyboard warriors' around the place! Particularly when it comes to any sort of "should I stay or go to Aus/UK type" threads. They get the biggest turn out I'm afraid.
  7. Yeah that's what happens when you come onto a forum (ie, a public discussion board). Anyway, to answer your question: yes but only in the UK not between different countries.
  8. I know someone who did this but have no idea what the process was... I think they contacted a couplee of register offices in their area of choice and liaised with them direct about what was needed. List of register offices here: https://www.gov.uk/register-offices
  9. True, agree. Not sure there is any real solution in for this in the modern world we are living in.
  10. Not sure saying that you've given your personal data away already, makes it a good idea to keep doing so! So many organisations ask for DOB and tel no. etc when they really don't need it. Plenty of people I know have an 'internet birthday' and telephone number. Maybe paranoid but why must we glibly give our information away just because it's on the "win a gym membership" / get free stuff internet form?
  11. I am still amazed at the distances - in a good way! And even the size of somewhere like NSW, compared to the UK can be surprising, when I actually look up the population/physical size etc. I do enjoy seeing new areas, even though I am not always a big fan of driving generally. TAS is beautiful and I'd love to visit again some time, and I particularly enjoy the southern highlands in NSW. I look forward to seeing more, as I get to know my surroundings a bit better :cute:
  12. We've got an Australian king sized bed, and our UK super king stuff fits on fine. The fitted sheet is a bit of a squeeze but not a real problem. There's something awry with our duvet size vs duvet cover size, but I suspect that's just us 'making' things fit so we didn't have to keep shelling out on new stuff, when we had better things to be doing with our money! If all else fails, Kmart and Target have some great designs for not too much, but I still prefer to keep my nice M&S stuff going until it needs replacing.
  13. Book yourself an appointment with someone like H&R Block. It cost me $135 and took about 30 min. Got rebate paid into bank account just over 1 week after lodgement of my return.
  14. Nice try! That's the bottom of the list of things that 'are wrong' with the UK. and @parleycross - 5* for you for bringing Julia Gillard into this for no reason whatsoever...
  15. When I moved to Australia, I flew premium economy with Cathay. Both LHR and HKG kindly overlooked the fact that my suitcase was quite a bit overweight, and that I was carrying two substantial cabin bags (rucksack / shoulder bag not suitcase - although I always tend to put them down in front of the tall counter so the check in staff don't see spot them...).
  16. All QF flights will go via Dubai, it's probably just not showing as a stop, as it might be a minimal/short re-fuel. Looking at QF website, think you are talking about flight QF2? Just means you'll get back on the same plane rather than changing and getting a different flight number for DXB-SYD.
  17. In Sydney where it's been raining the past couple of days but not cold. Definitely a long way off freezing!
  18. You should have received a PDF letter when your 309 visa was granted. This is where you can find your client ID and application ID.
  19. Body corporate is the entity who own the leasehold (or represent the owner) - ie, block of flats, So paying the body corporate, would be like the service / maintenance fees in a flat or other leasehold property in the UK (looking after communal areas, repairs to building etc).
  20. Yes I mean the rebate. I'm not clued up on these things after 1yr here, which is why I don't do it myself.
  21. Make an appointment with someone like H&R Block. It's $130 which you can then claim back the following year. I had the same confusion when I arrived here last year, but they made light work of it and I got my refund pretty quickly. Went back to them again this year and have been able to claim deductions against a few things + BUPA private health insurance. It's worth the outlay to avoid hassle and necessary stress IMO, and the appt. only takes 30-45 mins.
  22. Yep accurate for me too. Always us it for working stuff out!
  23. Bozzler has taken himself out of the running.
  24. from memory (I did my 309 in paper format and 100 online) there isn't a need for the applicant to do a statutory declaration as that's part of the online form, but the sponsor still needs to do one.
  25. Do you mean the forms or your statutory declarations? The stat decs need to be different - ie, in your own words (even if you decide to coach each other!). But if you mean the dates your relationship became defacto, then yes you need to say same thing. Feel free to PM me and I can look at my application forms to see what bits you mean. EDIT: I'm assuming you mean Section G on the 47SP form and Part D on the 40SP? If yes, then absolutely, your details must be the same. It would be a bit strange if you gave different answers
