  1. What sort of price are you looking for ? Feel free to PM me if preferred.
  2. Thanks, let me check with my OH he gets in from work. There are very specific TV requirements that I don't know / care about
  3. Hi, whereabouts are you? We are looking for a new (better) TV so would be keen to get the model number/spec for yours - thanks!
  4. I had my records printed out (but have not referred back to them so far), but unless you are a very large family, who have been to the GP a LOT, I don't think you have any need to worry about the volume of paper.
  5. Agree, I don't like Bondi either, but I had to visit it, to realise that I didn't like it!
  6. I would happily base myself in Neutral Bay for a month. It's well connected - local buses, trains from Milson's Point, the ferry or you could walk/cycle over the bridge if feeling enthusiastic. There are lovely walking trails around the foreshore (Tarongo Zoo, Bradley's Head, Chowder Bay, Balmoral Beach). Lots of cafes, nice shops etc. Perhaps if you are looking for party central, it's not the right place, but for pleasant activities, using as a base for exploring, I'd go for it. It's not near Bondi but you can still visit, and you might like it - or you might be happy that you chose Neutral Bay instead
  7. Hi @northshorepom - would you mind letting me have the details of your dentist? Am looking for a new one in SYD... Thanks!
  8. there are loads - monster, total jobs, fish4jobs, jobs.ac.uk (for uni jobs). Look at your local large employer websites (Unis, hospital etc) + NHS jobs is huge and covers the whole country + check the large agencies like Hays, Reed, Michael Page etc.
  9. I was sharing my thoughts on a related issue to be supportive / sympathetic. Won't be doing that again!
  10. Hi there. The statement that you write doesn't need to be witnessed by a legal professional. Anything written by other people (ie, partner or friends) does need to be. Defacto visa guidance for onshore & offshore applications: https://www.border.gov.au/Forms/Documents/1127.pdf

  12. Hi there. I get this too! My parents are in excellent health and long may it continue (touch wood). But I am an only sibling and although they wish nothing but the best for me, I do sometimes feel sad about being in Australia and they are in the UK. They have a good life, I visited recently and I very much hope they visit me in the next year or so. But sometimes get a little pang, or something sets me off. I don't miss the UK as such, but if I am feeling a bit down or am reading news from back home, wish that everything was closer or I could just pop across for the weekend! I don't read too much into it and accept that it's normal human feelings. I would feel less normal if I was gung ho and thinking that life is amazing 24/7! I also miss 'UK things' my friends, weird little sayings or places that are uniquely British. I also look at travel supplements and wish my next holiday could be in Sardinia, or Hamburg, or Ireland etc...! But I have a good life and I don't want to sound like I am complaining, when indeed I'm not. So it's not quite the same as you @aconcannon, as I don't feel guilty as such, more just a little sadness every now and again. Not sure this helps your question or not, really............! I can't imagine that second guessing what might be happening, or how people might feel, won't be helping with your feelings of guilt over not being there (not saying 'told you so' - don't take it the wrong way!).
  13. We purchased and packed our own boxes, logged the contents of the boxes using the forms the shipper gave us (Seven Seas - using a medium Move Cube). From what we can tell, none of our boxes were opened or inspected in any way. Everything turned up intact and only one box was slightly damaged upon delivery to our destination address.
  14. I think @Gbye grey sky can help with this question-from what I recall from previous discussions.
  15. No, the certificate will show Jessica Smith married Robert Brown - the marriage ceromony isn't where the names gets changed. The name changing part is a separate process. (Assuming it's the same in Canada as in the UK - I'm not married but a simple Google imagine search for 'marriage certificate' will tell you what you need to know). So as @snifter has suggested, it's easy to minimise stress by not doing the name change at the same time as your visa application.
  16. What part of the OPs question does this answer? Maybe if you don't have anything to add to a thread, just don't touch the keyboard! :arghh:
  17. I thought you might be able to contact the British Embassy in Managua but their website specifically states they do not deal with passport enquiries... and urgent assistance is considered as death, being arrested or attacked (which is fair enough!). Link below incase you want to have a look: https://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-embassy-managua Had a thought, perhaps try Australian Consulate? http://dfat.gov.au/about-us/our-locations/missions/Pages/australian-consulate-in-managua-nicaragua.aspx Address De la 2da Entrada Las Colinas, 3 cuadras al este (derecha en triangulo), 1 c. al este, 1c. al norte, 1c. este Managua, Nicaragua Telephone +505 2298 5300 Email - General enquiries: Aushonconsul.nicaragua@gmail.com
  18. Well yes, if you're looking at driving times, it's not going to be isolated. It's a personal / subjective thing of course.
  19. I must be living in the wrong part of Australia! Most people I cross paths with, would pretty much knock me down and walk over me to get to the fish counter. An exaggeration of course, but definitely not polite and willing to give each other space - and sadly I find the polite people who will let me pass first, very much the minority. I find the supermarkets one of the things I dislike the most about Australia. But in order to keep a positive note, some of the things I like the most about Australia, are: Cockatoos, toasted banana bread, automatic gearboxes and the fact there are no 1 or 2 cent pieces.
  20. Your first posted complained of being isolated, in a dull area. This house - as nice as it looks for the money - doesn't look it will solve either of those two problems! Unless you are happy to drive everywhere of course, which I know isn't a problem for many people here.
  21. @Ken you have reminded me that my silly tiny jar of Marmite has run out! Unlike the hulking jar of Vegemite that is still going strong...
  22. I brought a few small items (specific brand shampoo, some make up items etc) but even after just over a year, I've found local equivalents or order online from UK or Asia for non-food stuff. I found some McVities chocolate digestives in Woolies the other day so was very happy about that! Also brought over a new bedding set from M&S that I purchased with a gift voucher. Doesn't fit perfectly (is a little too big) but really not the end of the world all things considered
  23. What about the regional cities - Wollongong, Newcastle etc?
  24. Anyone else have any Tassie recommendations for @ali? :policeman:
