Hi, Thanks for all your advice. The car was serviced at Ultratune and they said that brake pads were worn down and rotors needed replaced. They quoted $595 for this. I managed to get a local mobile mechanic that said he could do it for $500. That sounded better! He came out today with Bentex parts and neb w discs, however I have been told that my model of car is not suitable for any other brake parts than from Hond, or rather there is no cheaper equivilant on the market. He showed me Bentex parts books and my pads and I could see that they do not have the exact type I need. He managed to get the rotors machined rather than replaced but unfortunately re the pads I could not get them from anywhere other than Honda. Does this sound right? obviously a bit late for going elsewhere but I would prefer to know if i've been ripped off. Thanks again

Hi All, Any one know of a cheap and reliable mechanic in the hills? I need my rear brake pads and rotors replaced on a Honda Civic 1.8 2012 model. Thanks Claire

My Honda Civiv 2012 has just been serviced and I was advised it needs rear brake pads at the bargain cost of $600. The car has done just under 30k and my understanding was that the front always went before the rear. On googling it, it would appear Honda USA were sued for this common problem but Australia are not replacing these under warranty. Anyone has this problem or any advice? oh and if anyone knows a cheap, honest and reliable mechanic in the Hills NSW, I would appreciate it. Thanks Claire

Hi Everyone, Very long story (sorry) My son, aged 8 is diagnosed with Aspergers and has had alot of health professionals involved from the age of 2.5. He has attended the Centre for Autism, Yorkhill Hospital. Josh has been fortunate enough to have been seen by many experts in this area through the Yorkhill and as such I have no doubts that he has had every available help that he could have. He had Speech and Language therapy from the age of 3 and whilst undiagnosed at the time, it was clear his speech difficulties or rather lack of speech and his tendancy to echo, were a clear sign of his disability. He subsequently was diagnosed with Autism. By the age of 4, his speech remained limited and it was looking like he might never improve. Fortunately just before his 5th Birthday, Josh started to speak and I mean full sentances. Josh really went from zero to hero. It was a staggering transformation. This resulted in his diagnosis being changed to Aspergers and whilst wonderful for us it was somewhat unusual for this to happen (or so we were told) By the age of 6 he was moved from a supported base into mainstream schooling and has continued to thrive. At this point all health professionals agreed that no further involvement or therapy was required. We moved to Australia last year and he has completed 16 months of schooling here, Whilst both teachers he has/had feel they understand him. Other teachers feel he needs speech therapy. We have given the school Josh's full history and reports but they continue to mention this. My feeling is this, Josh has a very broad Scottish accent and I feel that whilst his last and current teacher had to try to understand this on a daily basis. Those teachers who may have a brief conversation with him, may not try so hard. If I thought he had degressed in this area, I would be the first one to take him wherever appropriate. Ultimately though if the school continue to mention this as a concern, we would not choose to ignore this. Whilst I appreciate that Speech and Language Therapists are qualified regardless of where they are in the world, if the problem is purely as I believe his accent there is no gaurantee that an Australian Therapist would be able to differentiate between his accent and if there is a real need for therapy. If anyone can recomend a British Speech Therapist in The Hills area or close by, I would be extremely grateful. Cheers Claire

Hi Guys, Anyone know of any good companies who service the Hills area? We are moving 1.8 km with a small amount of large items. All companies that I find, seem to be ok until I dig a bit deeper and find some rather shocking reviews. We just need someone who will work hard for their money and not spin out the hourly rate. Hi, Does anyone have any advice re getting credit in Oz, I have now been here for 6 months and paid all bills on time. I have to buy a Fridge/freezer and a washing machine and really would prefer to get credit for this. We have rented until now. I just dont want to apply and run the risk of it being declined, if for instance credit is not given out until you have been here 12 months. Any advice would be appreciated?
