  1. Hi Andrew, Just looking into the possibility of transferring my UK pension over to Aus, now that I've been here for a year. From what I read, it seems that being under 55 that I have no chance of being able to move my money - do you know why 55 is used as the age when I can do this? And also, do you foresee this situation changing anytime in the near future? I'm happy enough to let my funds sit in the UK, but just concerned that in the next 25 years I'll forget all my account details and log ons!! Thanks in advance, Alex
  2. Thanks for the replies guys - I guess I'll just sit back and wait for however long Immigration take!
  3. Hi guys, Haven't really looked at the forum for a while as I've been busy settling into life in Sydney. I received an e-mail the other day from Immigration, saying that my 100 visa is going to be assessed shortly. I've done all the app on my Immi-Account but I'm just wondering if anyone knows the current processing time? One customer service person told me 12-14 months, another 6 months, and a colleague of mine got his through in only 4 months! It doesn't make any difference obviously, but it'd be nice to have an idea as to when to expect the grant. Thanks in advance! Alex
  4. Excellent - thanks for the info. I'll be arriving with the Aussie Mrs so I'll follow her!
  5. Hi guys, I've not posted for a while but now I'm just over a week from arriving in OZ and the question dawned on me - which queue at Immigration do I join? I have a British passport the partner visa (309) and will be activating the visa when we land. Also, if I have to go through the 'other passports' queue, will I have to do this every time I return to the country? Many thanks in advance! Alex
  6. 8 months & 18 days later, I finally got the visa!!! Sooooo happy now!!! I sent a gentle reminder mail to the department on Friday, so it seems to have done its job!!
  7. Yeah, I know its pointless worrying too much about it - the Mrs says the same! But seeing people who applied after me get the grant obviously makes me wonder if something's wrong etc!
  8. No such luck - I stop checking after 5 on Weds, as I know my co isn't working! Guess it proves that having a part time co does affect the processing time. Congrats to Barleysuga btw!
  9. nothing for me - my co leaves at 1pm, so at least I only have half a day refreshing emails! Trying to see the positives in this waiting:laugh:
  10. She does half days Monday & Tuesday, a whole day Wednesday, then has a nice long weekend! Not cool.... I do remember someone on here saying that the case officer being part time doesn't affect grant times, but surely it would?
  11. Congrats to all the recent grants - I've given up for the week as my case officer (RN) only works part time, and I presume she's the one who grants the visa?
  12. I'm (im)patiently waiting still! I emailed the contact centre on Monday to try and find out if I need to change the address on my application (we've moved into temp accommodation prior to the big move) and am hoping to hear back today. Maybe this will act as the prod needed to give me the grant!
  13. Tomorrow I hit the 8 month mark, and so begins the checking of my email every ten minutes til I get the grant!
  14. Hey Snifter and MtT thanks for the reassurance - just gone and booked the flights! Leaving the UK on 4th Dec and arriving in Cairns on 22nd Jan (having a nice journey though India and Asia). All of a sudden this seems even more real!!
  15. Hahaha, you just gave me a good laugh with that! I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, but hey, until that visa is in my inbox, I'm not counting my chickens...although I may fold and book our flights soon!
  16. Hi MtT - I've been wondering about the same thing regarding the timescale for not getting granted - what have you found out? All correspondence with DIAC suggests that the visa will be granted (that term was used) but now I'm starting to panic that I'm going to get to the 9 month mark in Oct and get refused! I've got to hand in my notice by the end of October if we want to stick to our move date at the start of Dec, so it'll really screw up plans to not be granted! Don't know what to do about booking flights now...
  17. Hi Lozza - they confirmed that they don't need anything else from me and just re-quoted the 8-9 months processing time
  18. Does anyone know of any instance where the visa isn't granted after the waiting period? I'm assuming I'm going to get granted now that I'm 6 months down the line and been told that the case officer has everything...Are visas ever turned down this late in the day? I've been told the following on e-mail today, making me think it's a done deal and I just have to wait: Europe Service Centre and we are the primary contact for visa and citizenship enquiries for applications that have been lodged. A case officer will process the application and request any required documents but I can check the system for the most up to date information on the progress of your application and discuss this with you Just weighing up the option of biting the bullet and booking flights as we can get such a good deal at the moment!
  19. Hi, I just listed the addresses as I think they must just use them for a search - I'd be very surprised if they ever contacted old landlords in normal cases. I recieved a confirmation mail and the following day a mail saying that everything was completed and the certificate would be mailed.
  20. I was just getting back to her to say that the medicals were showing as completed on the E-Medical page, but still showing as requested. Hopefully she's right and it will get granted, although it does make me wonder why they make you wait all these months if everything has already been assessed!
  21. Hi all, Long time reader, but first time posting on this thread. I've finally submitted all my stuff and got the following message back from the CO: Thank you for your message and I have now changed the status of your application. Please note all required documents have been received and assessed and your visa will be granted 8 to 9 months after the lodgement date as initially advised. Am I maybe getting a bit overly excited by the comment stating the the visa 'will be granted'? I'm pretty confident that it's all going to go through ok, but considering the CO has been very much by the book in all other mails, saying that it will be granted seems quite a change! Either way, gonna be a long few months waiting...
  22. Hi guys, I applied (paid) for the 100/309 visa on the ImmiAccount, but I've hit a bit of a wall... This may seem like a very stupid question, but can all documents be uploaded - i.e the certified ones? There's also a 'required' marker next to a passport photo, and it says that you need to write the name of the preson on the back and date it....so that surely means that has to be posted? Sorry, just a bit confused about it all, and I can't find anything on the website to explain! Many thanks in advance
  23. Hi all. Hoping someone can help please. I'm in the process of applying for a partner (defacto) visa and have got all the paperwork printed out with notes made etc. I was going to print another copy and write it up, but I noticed that I could apply online. I signed up and everything, but having gone through most of it, it seems a lot more in depth than the paper form - it's wanting to know dates that my siblings married, along with asking all the questions that I've answered with my statement about the relationship. My question is really whether I'm going to be asked all these extra questions by my CO if I submit a paper application, so should I just do it all online? Thanks in advance! Alex
