It's probably only the message about the system being down on 21st June. I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't worry, it is the message about system down, it's happened a few times to me now since I got my visa.

Take a bottle of water, pens, pencils and a eraser in a clear pencil case or bag! Always better with your own than what they provide! And try to relax, don't worry about speaking at all if your a native you'll be fine, listening is ok too, just really focus! Reading and writing are more difficult, but take a deep breath and don't rush into it! It really isn't that bad. Good luck [emoji2] x -
Fingers crossed for you! I have heard nothing, keep reading about extensions and deadlines, but that's never been mentioned to me. All so frustrating, would be great to hear of someone finally getting a decision! Good luck.

I'm thinking of kennel maid! As I absolutely love dogs! How sad that we get our visa on the basis we're nurses, but then can move and do what we like, Silly in't it!

Hi again Hayley, We're starting off in Rockingham, but as a district nurse, it'll depend where I can get a post, IF I can get my registration! Otherwise I'll look at a change in career, although what I'll do after 23 years nursing, I really don't know! Let's stay positive. Best wishes Tracey

Try and stay positive Hayley, I hope the worst that can happen is they send us on a bridging course! And although it's not cheap, if it has to be done, so be it! We're in Wirral, not far from you! And moving to Perth in November. All the best.

Hi Hayley, welcome to the frustrated nurses thread, We too have PR visas, and have sold our house, now in rental, but no sign of AHPRA yet, as Kelly said, sadly, there are many of us in this boat. My uni have been great too, and I qualified in 1995! So really, they should be able to help! I hope it is some comfort that you are not alone, you might like to check out twitter, as AHPRA are on there, and many queries have been put to them. Keep smiling, and keep the faith, I hope we'll all get there in the end.

Hi Louise and Mark, There are so many changes going on at the moment with UK nurses registrations, my advise would be to wait a little while and see what happens with AHPRA, the nursing registration body for Oz, UK nurses have been waiting from as far back as last September to get Oz registration in order to work, and, as one of them who has invested over £6K, and now has PR visas for myself and family, the situation is really quite scary. Check out the threads about AHPRA to give you an idea of what's happening. Hopefully all will be well, and us UK nurses will start to get regs soon, but I would wait and see before you start paying out thousands! All the best

For immigration purposes, general is acceptable, the academic is required for certain skills assessments if you don't need it for that then do the general, and although I have only done the academic, I understand the general is easier. Good luck

I think they'll wish that fact hadn't been highlighted on twitter, as most will now send it there! [emoji15]

Maybe Kelly, titan stated applicants waiting since last year, and I haven't been waiting that long, but yes, it did go in before new criteria, so not quite sure where I fit in! Like I say as long as things are moving ?

I know, it's awful isn't it, that's what I said to Ceridwyn, keep at it, we are all stressed by this, and not to let it keep her from her aim of getting to the UK! I think she was taking out her frustration by telling us all we had little hope of getting registered, we need positivity on here. As for the NMC, under no illusion about their efficiency, and threatening to put up our fees again!! For what?

I think what she was saying was that's how she thinks we view Australians! That's why I put what I did on, as if we would be working so hard to get there if we thought there were any truth in that? So much emotion on here, I see the forum as a way to support each other, not to have us scared silly about our future prospects.

We can see it from your side Ceridwyn, we are going through exactly the same stress, I hope you see that? Even to get to the AHPRA stage many of us have been through Medicals, ielts, police clearance checks, and so much more! And some have been waiting in excess of 8 months! But all I'd say to you, is keep at it, if it's what you want, it'll be worth it in the end! I certainly wouldn't tell you everything that could go wrong, In fact I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few lovely Aussie nurses in my job! So it must be possible! Good luck.

I agree, they should refund fees already taken, and in my case, the £7k it's taken to get visas!! As I would not have gone for it, if ANMAC hadn't recognized my skills and the WA govt hadn't said how much they wanted UK nurses!

geordiegirl68 replied to mummatothebear's topic in Visa Chat
Yes, welcome to the AHPRA support group! This must be great for UK wine sales! Keep smiling all. ?
