  1. My fiance applied in the beginning of August, DRC, Parramatta. He just received his visa grant letter about a week ago. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting!
  2. I'll chime in on the "don't know what I'd do without Skype" camp. My fiance and I have spent probably 18 hours on it over the last couple of weeks (with the holidays we spent more time than usual). We used it to open each others' gifts in front of one another on his Christmas and then mine (he's in Australia, I'm in the US). Then we toasted one another on New Year's Eve at midnight (my time). He uses it weekly to talk to his parents in the US, and once our PMV is approved (I hope I hope I hope I hope!) we will add my family to the Skype rotation and use it to talk to them every week as well.
  3. Hey, learn something new every day. That's contrary to what I've read elsewhere, so those other folks must be misinformed. Awesome, thanks.
  4. Fiona, Form 80 is only generally needed for countries DIAC classifies as high-risk, which Ireland is not. Otherwise, they'll ask you for it if they need it, but it's not likely. I wouldn't submit it "just in case" they need it as getting it processed has been said to slow down cases significantly. This is just my opinion gleaned from reading various forums. I'm no expert by any means.
  5. That's fine, and fair enough. I just figured it couldn't hurt to ask, especially since I've never seen a mention of there being a specific format these have to be in on this or other migration forums before. It's not for lack of looking, but it's always possible I missed something.
  6. Can you share with me (I'm currently not represented by anyone) what "the required format" is? I've been looking all over, but all I can find is that specialists' reports should contain information on diagnosis, prognosis, etc. Also, does anyone know if the threshhold the MOC is looking at these days is still $21,000 over 5 years, or is it higher now? I heard it was going up, but not sure if that's already happened or was just something they were THINKING about doing.
  7. I think you're confused (although it's always possible that I'm the one who is! ) My understanding is that cases do not even GO to Global Health unless they're referred. Referred just means there was something questionable on them, so they were sent by DIAC to Global Health for further examination/assessment. If your meds are at GH, it means they were in fact referred. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.
  8. You might want to call them. On another migration forum, someone had hers referred 10 October, and when she found out they were working on 18 October (for paper-based, which is what she sent in) she called, and it turned out they had "kinda lost" hers, and they were able to locate it and start it being assessed once she called.
  9. Thanks, lebourvellec. "Specialist reports?" Is there documentation somewhere on what information should be in these, and what format they should be in? Or are there forms for them? Thanks. I really appreciate the response!
  10. I read over this twice before submitting and still missed my typo. "Frong-loading?" Oops. I meant front-loading. Sorry.
  11. Hi everyone. I'm a 33-year-old woman from the US. I will be applying for a PMV so I can move to Australia to be with my fiance, who is a US Citizen, and is (hopefully!)about to get his Australian PR. I was hoping someone more experienced than I with all this could give me advice on how I can best go about all this. He lodged his ENS 186 back in August, and right now the estimated processing time for those is six months. I'm hoping against hope it might be sooner than that. Of course, we can't apply for the PMV until his PR comes through. I am pretty positive my medicals will have to be referred as I have a few chronic conditions. I know that's going to add another 6-8 weeks onto the processing time for my visa because of GH. What can I be doing NOW to keep processing time down when we apply? I think I should front-load my medicals, but it's hard to know exactly when to do that when he doesn't even have his PR yet. I'm a little concerned about doing it TOO early, as I read somewhere that with some people, if you have certain conditions, your medical can actually expire earlier than the standard one year and you might have to get it redone. But on the other hand, I don't want to have to wait an extra couple of months because I didn't front-load. I was also told that having documentation from my current specialists on my chronic conditions when I go to see the panel doc can be helpful. Does anyone have any guidance on what that information needs to be, what form it needs to be in, etc.? I want to do everything I can to make things easy as possible for GH/DIAC. Thanks so much in advance for any advice you all can offer.
