    Counting down!

Can I ask what type of dog and who are you shipping with -we need to start to get quotes but its making a start !
  2. Can anyone say if a Shar Pei is classed as a Brachycephalic breed ?
  3. We brought our Cocker Spaniel out ( many years ago ) and because there were no quarantine places in Adelaide at the time he was flown to Sydney and put into quarantine there for 3 months We made weekly calls and he was then flown to Adelaide domestic -and he was fine really good condition etc and he had been very well looked after He was quite a timid dog but he did his time well !
  4. Have you looked on STA travel students get cheaper Think KLM still does flights straight into Newcastle too
  5. Odd you say that as I say that Aussie beds are not the same as the UK -BUT we have a friend who works for Sheridan (sheets etc ) and he swears down that they are the same
  6. Just need to ask would our Shar Pei have to travel with us or could she arrive later We would probably rent for a while and could find having a dog a problem and we have family here in Oz who would keep her and then see her on a flight etc Has anyone experienced flying a Shar Pei as she is quite timid
  7. I would talk to Centrelink International they are quite helpful and will tell you what portion of your Aussie pension is portable in a % To me I would think about moving there before Xmas when the % is going to change ( if legislation gets passed ) Once your husband turns 65 you would get a part of his UK pension seemingly you can get it even if your divorced If he is now getting Pension Credit though they will take your Aussie pension into account https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator If you follow the link you can get a basic forecast of what ever you may be due to on this site
  8. I should have read all the answers before answering ! - You would be able to claim part of Richards UK pension when he reaches 65 ,mine in my own right is a pittance but I get 50% of other halfs since he turned 65
  9. Sounds as if Richard would have his UK pension to bring with him once over retirement age - and again CL pensions you need to be in Oz to claim them plus his UK pension and any private pensions would eliminate CL
  10. If you mean Centrelink pension you need to be in Oz when you claim it and it should be 'portable ' At the moment you need 25 years working life here to get the full CL pension in the UK from January that's supposedly going to change to 35 working years Super I would imagine is yours and could go with you but not sure on that one
  11. I am not an alarmist believe me but I have seen so much when I did security work I know what people can do with other peoples ids Myer Card had an Anzac Highway file on dodgy cards all opened with ID from letterboxes etc - subsequent police raid saw guy run along Anzac Highway throwing numerous credit cards away the raids by the police netted 3 containers full of goods bought on the cards -Maybe I seem over cautious but from what was said about this pair looking at documents well I would be one step ahead
  12. I used to work in security and know all it takes is a bill and an address for delivery - worked for a large retailer and one address netted $250,000 worth of goods bought on dodgy cards opened from utility bills For your own peace of mind report it to the police and change your banks passwords etc then if things do go pear shaped you have covered your proverbial

    Blood tests

Mine is low thyroid and drops the heart rate have a friend who had high and liked the weight loss so she did not take her meds -silly lass had a stroke !! Like you I felt like crapp my actual word to the doc was I feel lie s**te but could not put a finger on it =needs sorting so get stuck into your doc and take care
  14. You might need an interpreter in Oz if your from Sunderland ( tongue in cheek there as I am a Sunderland 'lass") We have on several occasions asked for a carafe of rose and been given a bottle of water !!

    Blood tests

Ring them and say you want to talk to a doctor - low thyroid if left untreated lowers your heart rate and a stroke is possible My doctor in the UK took me by the hand and dragged me through the surgery to put me on an ECG when he got my results -I too was feeling crapp and just left it ! He said I was within days of having a stoke
  16. I hope it all works out well for you and that you are able to get jobs etc as its hard enough even when your going 'home ' We thought we had done the right thing and told the DHSS about every penny we had -bought a house outright etc and we were not a drain in the system Must admit even the lass who interviewed us kept apologising at the questions she had to ask Felt as if we should have just said we had got off a banana boat and we were penny less !
  17. Beware of identity theft you don't know what docs they have looked at -report it to the police Justin Case ( he is a good mate of mine )
  18. The residency test for us was very demeaning as I said previously we were not claiming benefits just needed a rates rebate We were actually refused our first residency application as they said we had left family and a bank account in Australia That despite the fact we had my Mam -the reason we went home - as family in the UK and a UK bank account - my kids who remained in Oz were 37 and 38 so not dependant ! We were told that because we had left a bank account open in Oz we had not severed ties So I said ok our Aussie pensions are paid into that shall I stop them and claim here - we got our residents letter 2 days later We had sold our house in Oz took the car and all furniture etc I often wondered what more did they want us to do ?
  19. Be prepared for worse than that we were asked why we bought a house and did not rent and live off our savings !! This despite the fact we were not claiming UK benefits as we had Aussie Disablity pensions all we wanted was a residency letter so we could claim a rates rebate for a lower income
  20. The habitual residents test is not easy to get through and they don't always say yes you can have residency -I have posted on here previously about this but cant find the thread now
  21. Buy some Matalan bargain suits and you should be right
  22. We had no problems with knife block etc but AQUIS took Santas Wand poor Santa
