  1. Depends where you're living.
  2. Sorry Tink, did'nt realise you've been asked alot before!I now understand so thankyou for explaining xx
  3. Tink,I love your avatar and your posts but can I ask why you always place dots between your words?I'm intrigued!
  4. Its a horrible situation to be in,when one of you is happy and the other miserable.I guess for you,you need to decide if places are more important than people. Are you on a time frame?Aussie citizen?RRV?
  5. I went to both Primary and High school in Australia, and both were like holiday camps.
  6. Really sorry to hear the news.Unfortunately 5 months could be long enough for your OH to have made up his mind. Some people might take days, months or years.I guess from your perspective,if he is'nt elaborating on why he does'nt like it,then you can't really discuss the issues.I think firstly you need to say to him that for you to understand him better, you need to know the reasons.Just saying "I don't like it"is'nt good enough for you really is it?Also sorry to hear of your child hearts condition! That must be very worrying for you both, and your child.xx
  7. I wish my parents had'nt.I got moved over to Australia when I was a small child,so had no choice.
  8. When I lived in Australia, most people I knew stayed in Australia for holidays, either camping or maybe a trip to Surfers for a week in a hotel by the beach or whatever. So where are people going this year for summer holidays?http://www.harveyworldtravel.com.au
  9. I am keeping it real!Ok I was'nt saying its been a scorcher of a summer. And it was meant to be tongue in cheek, not getting carried away "pet"!
  10. My god!No rain??????And I thought alot of people emigrated due to the fact their kids "never"get to go outside! If its any consolation, where I live has'nt been bad either, very gorgeous weather infact for a while?Bang goes that theory then!Another generalisation thats bull****!So the whole of the UK is'nt ****,and it does'nt rain everywhere in the UK everyday!Wow!Amazing!lol
  11. In regard to your work, both my brothers are in the building industry in Australia, and yes work can also just drop off at an given time. Its part and parcel of the trade. One of my brothers had to fly interstate for work for a few months, jobs are few and far between where he lives. You sound(apart from work)quite positive about where you live,so what motivates you to move to another country?
  12. Is that though because Australia has two thirds less population than the UK?
  13. How hard is it?Well depends if you have the relevant experience. Can you fix a fence?Ride a horse?Round up cattle?Maybe shear the odd sheep? If you have no experience, your chances would I think be limited.Time is money, and most farmers would'nt be very willing to spend time training whilst paying. There might be opportunities to train on a "voluntary"basis.
  14. Its been truly gorgeous today and actually all week where I live. We've had some rain over summer but when you've experienced living in a drought, you learn to really appreciate the rain. When are you going? If soon, you'll be in time hopefully for a full on blistering summer!Don't forget the sunblock!
  15. Well it would be half, because the UK has alot more people.Actually for Australia, thats pretty high!
  16. Its not all gloom and doom here Hoff,my daughter went straight from uni to a job,and no gap in between!(much to her dismay! She was looking forward to abit of time off).I wonder what the percentage of youth are out of work in Australia?Another survey anyone?lol
  17. Can I ask why you want a tattoo on your wrist?I've got a tattoo on my right breast, and the reason for that is so no one else can see it.I had mine done way before it was popular for women to get them, like 27 years ago!!!!I've never had to worry about work propects because no one can see it except me.
  18. Well I guess sometimes I get fed up of hearing "Can't wait to leave this s***hole of a place(when refering to the UK)That does'nt make the "whole"of the UK S*** does it?When I first got married I lived in a S***hole suburb of Adelaide because at the time it was the only place we could afford. That does'nt make the whole of Australia s***!Maybe its not the countries thats S***,it might just be people's attitude towards it!
  19. I'm tied between the two countries and probably always will be.Apart from the weather, whatever you're trying to escape from in the UK,will also be in Australia.I also believe it depends where you live/came from in the UK and where you ended up in Australia. When my parents emigrated to Australia back in 1970,there was no internet,no Wanted Down Under shows. All they had was a two page brochure to go on.Back then lots of people emigrated blindly, not knowing what to expect and I believe its the best way.Perhaps too that way, less people returned to Blighty. It was the land of milk and honey back then too, cheap place to live, cheap properties, plenty of work opportunities.People, where ever you happen to live do not like to feel like they've been ripped off.Maybe people emigrate for better weather, experience summers in Oz,and then decide its better to jet off from the UK for 2 weeks somewhere nice, and thats enough.
  20. Which part of Australia are you heading to EIW?I think you may find if you chuck your kids out into the street to play, they might just be the only ones out there!Just because the sun shines more, please don't assume there will be kids everywhere outside playing. Most are too busy inside sat at their computers.
  21. Paul1Perth:And I don't see most of the "issues"people leave the UK for either!Must be the part of the country you're from/live I guess?Jimmyay1:I understand your reasons for leaving, but please know there are a huge number of people in Australia who choose not to work and also live on benefits.Aussies also get very frustrated by funding these peoples lifestyles.
  22. To the OP,no the UK is'nt that bad.My OH and I do have the choice where we live(we both have PR)and am choosing to stay here(UK)until further notice.I think where you choose to live in the UK makes a big difference. Some people whinge it rains all the time, not sure where they live but it does'nt where I am,some people whinge about crime, where I live, crime is very very low, some whinge about crap education, again where I live,my kids (who by the way are aussies)havent had any problems.Infact one has just finished a degree in Law and got herself a great job(despite the recession????)and the other is a theatre nurse. My son,is about to join us from Australia,as europe offers him much more job wise(degree in tourism,ski/snow board instructor)and he also dislikes hot weather.I don't honestly know anyone personally who is out of work.We are just an average working class couple, and manage very well on what we earn, eat well, live well, and can afford 3 overseas holidays per year(and no we don't do Malaga or any other brit booze fuelled hangout). We both have our own cars, and truly there is nothing wrong with our lives. As for teenagers drinking ect,I grew up in Australia and I can tell you,I was boozing quite heavily at 15!(and that was quite a while ago)and I also know aussie kids are still doing boozing. It happens everywhere.I guess I was lucky with my 3 kids, none of them got into drugs/binge drinking. My grandaughter has Cererbral Palsy, and she have recieved the most brilliant care by the NHS,so nope can't fault that either.I spoke to my eldest daughter last night and she told me she calls the UK home now.Imagine that!!!!lol Is'nt life what you make it,where-ever you are???
  23. Lets hope you manage to find somewhere in Melly thats not overcrowded!Good luck with the move.
