    A bit sad

Sorry to hear that LR!Hope your Dad's health improves real soon hon xxxx
  2. What does pls mean?:wink::tongue:
  3. Good luck FT!There is no point in flogging a dead horse and only you know whats best for you.Best wishes and I hope it all works out for you when you return.x
  4. Where I live has been quite mild actually. Its weird,I now walk to work and I get rugged up,step outside the front door and its not even cold!I really don't mind winter tbh,I like a nice pot of hot soup on the stove, rugging up,going out for walks with my wellies on.I just embrace each season for what it is.
  5. My Mum (now aged 82)grew up as one of 13 kids in a 3 bed council house.Only her father worked (and no he did'nt have a well paid job either)and they all survived ok!They had no benefits!
  6. BF how would you feel about your wife and staying in Oz,if her family did'nt live with/near you?Any different? When her parents buy their own place, are they going to be near you?I like my outlaws but I would'nt like them living with us,or just "down the road".I think if it were me,I would discuss with my OH my own feelings about the way your lives are atm.If she does'nt care about your feelings, then there's not alot you can do about that tbh.But if she does? You might be able to work through this?
  7. Hi BF!Wow you must be feeling very stressed atm right? Why is this all about your OH?So she gets the outlaws to move in with you,she gets to keep the house, kids and so on,so what do you get?If you can afford it,I would seek some legal advice about all this. Its easy for people to agree with the "Lets give it say 2 years and if it does'nt work for us,we'll move back"but........when the time comes,if one of you goes against that? Then what do you do?
  8. Really liked this little clip! http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-ideas/french-filmmaker-travels-around-australia-in-one-minute/story-e6frfqd9-1226772391724

    Sadly

Well atleast now you can truly move on with your life.If you keep this dream alive when you know deep down it ain't going to happen, you're only holding on to suffering.End the suffering and live in the moment! Here's to a bright and happy Now time!:cute:
  10. That'll be right!Just because I did all my Xmas shopping back in Sept!lol Talking of which,I had chosen some gifts for my son (I live in the UK,he in Adelaide)and when it came to check out,I got a box come up saying the items I had chosen were not suitable for International delivery!(Sale items!!!)I then got re directed to the international order site and guess what?No sale items!

    The irony

    Which band was it LR?
  12. You're very lucky to have options!Hope the forthcoming trip gives you the clarity you need!
  13. I would'nt mind doing some voluntary work when I do retire, but I would hate to think I had to stay in my job because I did'nt have a choice!
  14. Everytime I head back to SA,I check out the supermarkets. Not at all shocked by the prices. Here the cataloques for SA....... http://www.coles.com.au/catalogues-and-specials/view-all-available-catalogues
  15. And to think I was p***** off, when my pension age went up to 66!lol
  16. Just having my daily catchup on the Oz news and came across this story: http://www.news.com.au/money/superannuation/baby-boomers-to-work-into-80s/story-e6frfmdi-1226769073673 I don't think I'd be too happy to work until I'm 80,would you?
  17. I don't know your personal living details, but if you're in social housing you can register with Homeswappers and move anywhere yourself within England.(I know you're probably set on emigrating but just incase you wanted other options.Good luck with everything.
  18. Same as you LR!I would'nt move anywhere just for the weather.I've spent 30 summers in Oz stuck inside with the aircon blasting! No diff than being stuck inside with the central heating blasting!(Although I suppose where I lived in Oz,I had to have the woodburner chuggling away 24/7 in winter so we were stuck inside twice a year!
  19. There is no easy answer to this imho.I'm the other way around in that we emigrated to Oz as a family way back, and I returned with my kids (all aussies)a few years ago.I do visit my Mum/family in Adelaide atleast every 2 years, but last time returned,I did not cope well leaving. The last memory I have of my Mum(she is still living, and 82 yrs old))is saying goodbye to her.I got in the hire car,and was reversing out of her driveway. She was bawling her eyes out!I just did'nt want to leave her.I don't know if I will see her again.Awful feeling,it really is!I try not to think about it too much, because if I did,I would probably suffer from depression.I'm just doing my best atm talking to her on the phone regularly and so on and thats all I can do.
  20. One of my daughters friends, aged 26,an Australian male, committed suicide this week.I did'nt know him personally, but all the same very sad!
  21. Sounds like an awful lifestyle choice!I would absolutely loathe going to work to pay off debts!I know I would soon lose the motivation! My bank works for me,I don't work for my bank!:cute:
  22. Thats the trouble of working a casual job though is'nt it?My friend who lives in Adelaide worked in a perm job.The place closed down, and all she could get was casual work. This was fine while she had work, but then she would get laid off when orders dropped/slowed down which meant sometimes being out of work for weeks. When she went to SS for help, they said she was'nt eligible for any benefits due to the fact she was'nt technically out of work. She got behind in her mortgage, and now has to sell her place.
  23. I'm 52,and have lived in both countries and had no debt in either! Its all about living within your means is'nt?My OH and I are working class people, and manage really well with our finances. We save for what we want/need,and the satisfaction of doing that is immense! Can't imagine what life must be like living on credit.I would just find it extremely stressful living that way.One lady I know at work, works full time. She's 29 and still lives at home. She pays board to her parents (min amount)and she still can't manage her finances. Her pay is gone the day after she is paid!Crazy stuff! Its not just a UK thing either.I know people in Oz heavily in debt. You hear on Oz radio all the time ads for debt help etc.
  24. No S***!:laugh:It won't affect us,we can both walk to work where we live.Hope we do get some snow though, that will be fab!
