  1. My OH had a speeding fine, and the fine went back to our UK address because we never applied for an Oz license. . Had quite a lot more speeding fines now. personally I would just pay it peace of mind.
  2. Hi We sold our Swift in the UK before we left, we looked at caravans in Oz and you need a mortgage to buy one here. We looked at different Models and they are nowhere near as luxuries as the UK built ones. we found them very basic. We were considering renting one for the last 3 months but had a shock at the rental prices it's cheaper to rent a house. I know you have to have owned a car for a year in the UK before you can ship it, not sure if the same applies to Caravans!!!! I personally wouldn't buy in Oz . Good Luck.
  3. Good Luck with your decision, it must be hard leaving some family here! Sorry to hear you had problems with low life people who think they can spoil your life!!, I am leaving in 2 weeks time I agree with the expensive lifestyle. Oh family members were starting to attack me emotionally and mentally, because I decided Oz wasn't for me. They were so supportive before I moved here because of OH job, sort of pushed into it. So I now keep my distance until I return back to the UK. It takes a lot of guts to stand up to them, but I'm a true believer.what goes around comes around . Bloody Pom bashers Good Luck I'm sure you will get your life back to normal, and yes our friends left Oz yesterday took him a week to get another job.
  4. Hi I'm moving back in 2 weeks time,40ft container is costing me $15000. I used Chess who gave me the best quote. I was told for 2 guinea pigs it would cost $3000,so not sure about dogs? Cars in the UK are 3 times cheaper,so I would advise to sell your car in Oz you will get a lot more for your money in UK unless it's very sentimental car. Good Luck.
  5. Easy Jet wouldn't trust them on a long flight, they are a budget airline no frills!! Imagine the leg room and the choose of food would be a laugh after 36 hours.Emirates for me even if you have to pay an extra $200 it's well worth it.
  6. Dubai Airport is massive, I've only got 1.30 mins transfer through terminal3 and it takes nearly all that time to leg it to the next flight. It's always been busy every time I've gone though. just finding the gate is a big hike. don't bother yourself with showers the waters on a timers so takes forever just to brush your teeth. Good luck
  7. Hi Sorry about the way things are going,we arrived here in October 2010 on a 457 visa. My daughter started year 4 . I have always been the one to invite her School friends over, none of the Aussie mothers have ever asked my daughter to their home in nearly 2 years it's damn rude. I've leaned that they don't give just take. I'm heading back in 3 weeks time and bloody pleased. When we arrived and I woke up the next day I though what a s---tH---e in the west I was so sad to leave my Home which was beautiful. I hope your family get through it it's hard but been happy is more important than some over hyped Country. Good Luck.
  8. I agree how sad for the little girl, and the father also as the have a good relationship. Maybe it would be good for a holiday, not so much of a lifetime. The grass isn't always greener. The cost alone visiting is a real pain. Good Luck
  9. Skin Cancer is much higher in OZ, each Country has Good points and Bad,even though the Outlaws still insist ," Why people want to return to the UK is mind boggling" hello not to see you !!!
  10. No never heard of them, best use Companies that you have heard off, best Google them before you splash the cash out.Do your research just to be on the safe side!!!
  11. We used ROBINSONS they were really good with packing and affordable, but now returning from this end managed to save $2000 with Chess, Get 3 quotes and get in touch with all of them to see if they are willing to compete against each other price it, does work!, Good Luck

    proud of you

It's more nerve racking going back to the UK than it was coming to OZ for me,because I'm leaving half my family here for 3 months. Oz wasn't for me though I stuck out nearly 2 years of tears, heartaches, deaths feeling selfish for wanting to go home. In the UK I wouldn't even drive 20 miles up the road or even jump on a plane ride away 2 hours. Oz has given me more independence and made me stronger. It also gave my daughter more confidence . So although Oz wasn't for me, put aside all the expense also I take abit of positiveness back.
  13. I agree the cost of living is shocking, couldn't afford to buy even in tHe West that's if I wanted to stay!!Glad I'm going back to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. My mortgage is less than 1 weeks rent here.
  14. Hi I know how you feel, I only came because of OH, didn't want to come had a lovely home in the UK, although I didn't work for a couple of years looking after Children I felt abit liked I had to come. My OH works longer hours too. I wanted to leave last year but hung on in so nearly 2 years in I'm returning in 4 weeks time. I often think I wished I'd never left it's got to be both your dreams not just one or it simply won't work out. I realized Oz wasn't for me after 8 months, Six weeks isn't really long enough. But saying that I know Folks that have only lasted 2 weeks as it didn't live up to that TV show Poms in Paradise!! It just depends how strong you are, and how to deal with it. Good Luck.
  15. Good & Bad in both Country's . Oz has dirty places, so does UK. Depends where you live!!!! Ye UK has a lot of Rain, but Oz isn't utopia.
  16. Hi Im going in 4 weeks time, but my container is jammed packed 40ft .Spa the lots going I found Chess Removals very reasonable a lot cheaper than Grace. Good luck

    Money

We pay $3500 a month and that's in the West which is abut cheaper, Our mortgage in the UK is very cheap so it's a no brainer for me.

    Money

Australia is way more expensive, for me than UK. We could save abit there and you got more for your money. We have funded this 2 year stay with some of our savings which we didnt want to do.
  19. just had a quote for 40 ft container OMG $15500 , thing is most things are so sentimental. I won't be doing this again. Some items I can't afford to insure because of this, never mind just hope it doesn't go overboard.
  20. Wow that was a big drop on your Spa we bought ours for $8500 and I'm hoping to get $5000 , i suppose it's weighing it all up with the shipping costs!!! I'll have to break the ice off with an axe in the UK ha ha
  21. If your having difficulty finding the funds for your passports, can't your family help out in the UK. it's easy to set a new bank account up they can transfer the funds even if it's one passport at a time. Start renewing there will be away round it. Good Luck
  22. Hi We came over with a 20ft Container, going back in 4 weeks with a 40ft, I've put some items on trading post but sold nothing and there pretty cheap. I bought a spa what was a big mistake can't sell that as we will get peanuts for it. I managed to sell my car 6 months ago and bought a cheap car. I think if you don't value then item you have to sell it for peanuts or give it away. I would just keep basic items you can skip like blow up beds old towels. Try selling you can outside with a sign on or the last thing I would do take it into a garage and get what you can. Good Luck
  23. M Miss my Husband & Son until they come home. Nothing else!!!
  24. Paradise in Oz & Wanted Downunder don't really give a realist view of life really here. It's overrated that's why the Brits who watch it in the UK ask why People return? Take the rose tinted glasses off!!! One couple I heard came thought the whole of OZ was like Home and Away, she only lasted 2 weeks !,
  25. No never been to Oz before hand. Had return tickets as it was to be a holiday. Until OH was offered a job then everything was up and onwards. Too fast for me.
