Yes Marta , they are as I have been on the receiving end heaps of time, in one job if there had not been a student or a bank staff memeber I had all my breaks alone for 18 months, the manager attempted to rectify the situation but the other staff just did as they pleased.

I am raffling my house as a means of getting around the housing market and no estate commission to pay and no viewings either. Just sell my tickets do a draw and the winner gets my house and I get the money raised.

I have a brother in Oz who was married to a kiwi, they had one son and 4 years later had a break down within the marriage, she moved where she wanted within the state and he had to follow if he wanted to see his son, and finally had my brother taken through the courts left right and centre and she still would not abide by the courts. She would more often than not deny him access which had been granted by the courts. She then asked for permission to take the boy to NZ for a HOLIDAY and she has not returned him to Oz and there is nothing my brother can do but wait until his son is over 12. The latest is that when she moved his child support payments were deemed not payable and now because she has had a relationship break up, she has applied to the NZ courts for CS and it appears she will get it, my brother has attempted to complete on suicide at least once, feels that no matter what he does he has to pay the price while she gets off scot free and no one mentioned the HC to him or that she could go to prison for taking his son out of the country. So it is not always the men who have their way and the courts do not stick to the 50% scenerio

I have found there are more parents swearing at the children in public in the Uk than there are in Oz or maybe it is just where I am living, my children were lucky enough to have a caring parent who wanted them to grow up being productive likable adults and took the time and energy to treat them with respect. They still as adults do not swear around me or my friends and they appear to love spending time with me and support me in what I want to do with my life, after having children at home for 25 years its great to know they enjoy spending time with me and that I acieved my aims when bringing them into the world. They were allowed to grow up taking risks such as the child who was swinging on the tree but if I went anywhere they went with me, and they would approach adults with respect. I would have been as shocked as the woman in the OP who was vebally abused by a stranger in a shopping centre/ cafe, but then again I would never have expected a stranger to look after the well being of my children.

Well I have now posted of my docs .....all 76 of them to my son and royal mail says it will take 5 working days to get to my son, the last lot took 3 weeks so just have to wait and see and then wait for my raffle to sell enough tickets so that I can hand the keys over for my house and move back ..........

Hi the couple in Devon were stopped for a short period of time but did end up sorting things out and did draw their raffle after raising 1.7 million, I do comply with the Gambling Act by having a question to be answered before you can actually purchase a ticket. There is a maximum number of tickets per person of 10. It is legal to do so long as you read and can interpret the GA, they do not make it clear, possibly to make it harder to do. There have been several other raffles, some successful others not so and having a draw for the sum of money raised with the winning ticket getting a nice sum of money, I think one person got about 80,000 if I recall it properly. You are probably right Jackinabox, the main concern seems to be that I am getting market value for my house or as they put it a lot of money , they seem to forget that someone will also get my house for a very small amount of money. Hi if you can show that you have had 5 years education ..including the 3 years training then you do not need IELTS justa stat dec stating your schooling. I am undergoing AHPRA registration and visited the Brisbane office last month and they were happy to accept that I did 2 years to get my NVQ's and then 3 years of nurse training. Had all the docs resigned today witha JP and back in the post, so hopefully they get them and accept what has been done and will be registered within 6 weeks.

I applied last year to Brisbane and heard nothing until I went home last month and apparently they archived it due to not hearing from me as they sent me an email, but they had copied my email down wrong ... thus no reply from me. They now have the right email account and I have to get everything re certified as the rules changed and they no longer accept it done by a solicitor. Got an appointment with the magistrates court next Tuesday and fee is £25.00. Then into the post to my son and certified to Brisbane office from Oz. then I guess it will be about 6 weeks after that.

I am similar ..... a aussie in the UK and I have been since 98, I came over on my own and have stayed and done my nurse training and travelled heaps but now feel its time I went home, I already know that I will not be able to settle in Oz full time and are coming up to retirement again, having retired in Oz before coming to the UK. There are aspects I like here but have always felt like an outsider and have made some good friends but have been lucky enough to have retained my friends back home. When asked I say I came here for a holiday and am still on a holiday and when I want reality I go home. I find the way of life in Oz more to my liking, eating out or BBQ in the back yard or at the beach than going to pubs here. Finacially I will be better off in Oz and have started the process of raffling my house here to move back. I know I am lucky to still have my house in Oz and a couple of trips back I bought a dream car that waits for me to drive when I go home on visits and catch up with my children. I find people over here do not understand my humor and my commitment that if I say I will do something I do it. Unlike people who I have invited to functions and events here and they have agreed and then not a word from them to even say sorry but will not be attending. I enjoy the cooler weather but not the rain, I enjoy the green scenery but not the rubbish and litter. So yes I will be going home and possibly buying a house in Malaysia as that is where I find I travel to mostly now if I do not go home. Early in my stay when work allowed I did travel to different countries and saw loads of the UK.

What was going on at the groups for her to be acting that way? Surely the children are not all that different? Yes they were strangers but she would still have the same problem in the UK when attending nursery or school. Oz is not all that different to the UK and the people are similar.
