Hi all Need some advice if you could. Was made redundant in October, married in November - to a PR and looks like my 457 is now cancelled even though I had a job offer in December. So married to a PR and no Visa - will have to go for spouse but I need working rights - any ideas. Many thanks B

Hi all I wonder if anyone can help. I've only been here for 4 months now on a 457 and want to set up a business. there are options: 1) Can I do it alone just on my visa. 2) My other half is a PR and will set the business up and employ me or 3) I can claim that my OH and I are together and work off that - not sure as we've only been together a short time. Any help or advice of a good migration agent/lawyer that can help is much appreciated. Thanks again

Just an update guys. Told them to shove the job. 28 days to find a new one - should be fun Not stressed anymore though! Thanks for all the support

I think part of the problem was I arrived after a 30 hr journey on the Wed/Thurs and started work on the monday - I shuld have given it more time to settle in and meet people a little less rushed and stressful. Thankfully my skills are in demand so worst case I will tell them to do one and move on. After taking some time. Cheers again everyone

Thanks guys for all your support It's been a hard weekend and I seriously thought of jumping on a plane. Not just yet though.

Moved to Sydney 4 weeks ago. Started work and hate it - being bullird by people half my age. On top of that I have been ill this week - sunstroke so have been off since Wednesday, which went down like a lead balloon. Not met anyonr yet, lonely, tired, in pain and missing my family and friends.... Sorry to moan

Wow! Thanks guys for all the support - feeling better now as much stuff sorted - all the little things you forget about. Weird on your own but in a way more exciting. My accomodation isn't sorted yet as fell through but I've decided to be the real me - Mr sociable and optimistic. Let all be as it will. I think the scary bit is going away but the excitement is now real. Just have to get over my pathological fear of flying which doesnt help - hoping Emirates will be good! Why I am putting myself through this god only knows. Balls I suppose! Squash, golf and swimming clubs on track. Then we can rock. Thanks to all of you again for your support. It really helps. I'm a specialist headhunter for the financial sector. Nothing special really but have 15 years experience so that perhaps helped. I fly to sydney next week and start work the following week. Crazy how fast it can happen!
