  1. I have never heard of Warnbro so I looked it up. According to Wiki, Warnbro is the home of the nineteenth Earl of Lincoln, who succeeded to the English title in 2001. If it's good enough for him it must be a nice place. Go back for a holiday and you'll find you're not missing much.
  2. Check out this site. They should be able to give you the info you need. This is a safe worry-free way of investing in property in Oz. The government Defence Housing Authority will manage your property, guarantees your rent, and lease agreements are from 8-12 years. And if you ever decide to sell they find a buyer for you. I have a rental property and it is pain in backside with bad tenants always behind in rent, and the hassles involved in trying to get them out, so I'm thinking of selling it and getting a DHA house myself. http://www.dha.gov.au/investing?gclid=CPHL8ojul7sCFYZLpAod03cA0Q
  3. There's a big Harris Scarfe in Cranbourne Shopping Centre there's a Kmart there too.
  4. It sounds better than Melbourne at the moment. It's summer here and it's 16 degrees and belting down with rain.
  5. Coles is way too expensive. Maybe if they stopped paying mega-bucks to B Grade Brit celebrities like Status Quo and Dawn French to do their ads they could drop their prices.
  6. Coles supermarkets sell pork pies in their deli. They are very nice but fairly pricey at about $4 each, so I only buy them when they are marked down.
  7. Avoid Frankston North it's full of low-life and gives the rest of Frankston a bad name. Mornington is very nice and seems to be a place favored by new arrivals from the UK. Also Carrum Downs, Skye and Langwarrin are more reasonably priced and only 10 mins to the beach.
  8. Watch out for the hail. Friends up there had their car damaged yesterday. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/golfball-sized-hail-as-storms-hit-southeast-queensland-20131115-2xm55.html
  9. Then put it out for the hard rubbish collection.
  10. I found out the hard way that cheap Bunnings mowers are just a waste of money and time. Cut your losses, go to a mower shop and buy a quality machine.
  11. The trouble is most people have their beliefs imposed upon them. Children are brainwashed from birth. I remember the nightmares I had as a child regarding satan and hell. My so-called "Christian" parents were guilty of no less than child abuse.
  12. Gods and religions were the creation of primitive people and have no place in the modern world. It amazes me that with all the corruption and sexual abuse that goes on, that people can't use their intellect and reason to see though these charlatans. We don't need any churches including an atheist church.
  13. Sandringham is a very nice suburb you should enjoy living there. Good luck.
  14. Oz is very integrated, tolerant and multicultural. Don't know why people would think they would experience racism here.
  15. I agree with your comments about Sydney. People get sucked in by the postcard pictures of the bridge and opera house. Melbourne is a much nicer place to live despite the longer winter and it is so much cheaper. Friends of ours are renting a 3 bedroom house in Frankston and are very happy. They pay $390 a week and are close to the beach, schools and shopping centres and its only a short drive to the Mornington Peninsula with all its wineries, beaches and parks and it's an easy commute to Melbourne central.
  16. Bikies are just middle-aged men who like drinking and riding with their mates and keeping away from their wives. The figure I heard is that only 0.6 per cent of crimes are committed by so-called "Bikies". Yet Newman has spent nearly a million dollars of taxpayers money on an advertising campaign telling us how tough he is on Bikies. Who will be next? Don't tell Newman that 3 per cent of the prison population in Australia are New Zealand born, he might get ideas.
  17. My fav Lou Reed album is "Berlin". Largely disparaged and ignored when first released, I think it is a lost classic. Yes it is very dark in its subject matter but life isn't all a bed of roses. Go out and get a copy.
  18. Pack your warm clothes. It's two months into spring here and the weather is terrible. Cold, wet and windy everyday - more like the middle of winter. Is it too late to change your mind and go to Queensland?
  19. I came across a British TV show the other night called "Geordie Shore". The young people featured could hardly speak, let alone spell. If they are representative of young Britain, god help us. It's about a group of spray-tanned, breast-enhanced vacuous bimbos and steroid-munching meatheads who seem to do nothing except drink, vomit and have sex. Half their luck.
  20. Yeah and the beetle they were brought in to control lived at the top of the sugar cane - the idiots who released them didn't know that cane toads can't climb. 102 toads were brought in from Hawaii in 1935 now there are an estimated 2 billion.
  21. I don't like killing anything but it is necessary in the case of cane toads. They are so toxic they will kill anything that eats them. They are taking a devastating toll on native wildlife as they spread across northern Australia especially the goanna population. The skin of the adult cane toad is toxic, as well as the enlarged parotoid glands behind the eyes, and other glands across their backs. When the toads are threatened, their glands secrete a milky-white fluid known as bufotoxin.Components of bufotoxin are toxic to many animals; there have even been human deaths due to the consumption of cane toads. Bufotenin, one of the chemicals excreted by the cane toad, is classified as a class 1 drug under Australian law, alongside heroin and cannabis. The effects of bufotenin are thought to be similar to those of mild poisoning; the stimulation, which includes mild hallucinations, lasts for less than an hour.As the cane toad excretes bufotenin in small amounts, and other toxins in relatively large quantities, toad licking could result in serious illness or death In addition to releasing toxin, the cane toad is capable of inflating its lungs, puffing up and lifting its body off the ground to appear taller and larger to a potential predator. Poisonous sausages containing toad meat are being trialled in the Kimberley (Western Australia) to try to protect native animals from cane toads' deadly impact. The Western Australian Department of Environment and Conservation has been working with the University of Sydney to develop baits to train native animals not to eat the toads. By blending bits of toad with a nausea-inducing chemical, the baits train the animals to stay away from the amphibians.
  22. This should give you a few ideas.
  23. Good luck. Darwin is expensive. Stayed in a serviced 3BR apartment last year for 4 nights cost of $220 a night. Loved the weather, beach market and casino and it's close enough to Bali to go there for the weekend. AFL is big in Darwin don't know about football and rugby. Met poms working in bars and casino. As long as you can find nice accommodation at a reasonable price you should enjoy it. You really need a car that's cheap to run as the Territory is huge and lots of driving is involved if you want to see everything.
  24. England now ranks 22 out of 24 countries rated for literacy. The top five countries in literacy were Japan, Finland, the Netherlands, Australia and Sweden. http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/435429/England-trails-world-on-literacy-levels-and-Labour-is-to-blame
