  1. Stayed in a private short term rental for 3 weeks before traveling up the coast and picking where we would live for a good number of years.
  2. Wanting new coffee pals in Eumundi/Cooroy area. I am female in mid forties, married and love fitness and health, animals, horse riding etc... Would love to meet some local ladies and enjoy coffee/shopping etc... etc...
  3. Hi Thoughts on these two areas (Diddillibah/Bli Bli please. Are mozzies bad in Diddillibah, heard they are more than other areas. TIA
  4. Hi Ellie, I would say birtinya, right on your doorstop for work or brightwater at mountain creek less than 10 mins away. Buderim is nice but I think over rated and kind of retirement ville, has good shops and a good friendly environment but don't overlook other areas too which have just as much if not much more to offer.
  5. If you are new to sunshine coast and would like coffee, sandwiches and dainty cakes on Friday our get together may be just what you ladies need. Pm for details, held in birtinya on Friday 28th June
  6. Sopranos, six feet under, boardwalk empire
  7. It takes around 50 mins to an hour, easy journey in to south bank . Wellington point is great , I lived in Redlands 18 months ago
  8. HiKaren Medicare is in sunshine plaza and the dvla for your licence is also in Maroochydore, exciting times ahead x julie
  9. I would sell the car, very expensive to bring over and being left hand drive I'd say no. Cars however here are ridiculous prices compared to abroad and even in perth they are heaps cheaper then qld for instance.Having good savings to support yourself is usually positive when after visas. I think you would need a car unless you are right in CBD. Brisbane is a great city with a better climate then Melbourne I think you would be happy in brissy.
  10. I would stick to meeting with real estate and looking at a few properties, if you email them they may give general advice on areas. Most agents live within the area they cover so have good local knowledge.
  11. Glad to hear you are happy and settling in. You've chosen a good part of the sunny coast to settle. I'm near mountain creek too
  12. Get all your dental work done in uk before you come cos it costs an arm and leg here! Even with top health cover.

    Teeth

Get all dental work done in uk if poss. Dental work here is still extremely expensive even if you have private health cover. I needed a crown redoing and here for one tooth it costs $2600 to $3000 as you have to go to a specialist. In uk they will redo a crown and re root fill for 400 pounds. They don't always give you good rebates and this amount was what I was going to have to pay with my private health cover as major dental is capped at a max of $1000 per year per person even if you have top cover
  14. I'm a real estate agent. If you get a letter from the real estate who sold your house to say it was well maintained and you were good to deal with this will help. Also offering to pay a month or more in advance, a healthy bank statement is good too.
  15. Buderim is lovely, was working there today! Sure you will love the community feel too
  16. Sunshine Coast is hard for work. Gladstone cq would be better for you work wise, heaps of building going on and handyman are hard to get to do work, wishing u all the best
  17. Just different procedures in different states etc... Honesty etc is same as everywhere else I think.
  18. We did 9 years ago just chose qld and brought 3 kids with us with no idea where to settle or what to do work wise. It is an adventure all the way
  19. Hi yes you can just ask for long term rates. Blue water point Minyama do long term rates too.
  20. Sounds great!been here 9 years and miss my close friends from uk even now. I have friends here but most don't go horse riding. Still hoping to find that special circle of close friends. Have been horse riding for many years now and not fallen off yet, nearly a few times, lol. Know it's gonna happen and will probably break something when I do! I have a German shepherd here who I love to bits, she's getting old now bless her. Coolum is nice. What industry are you looking at working in? I'm in real estate.
  21. Hi a lot of new comers stay in holiday accom on long term rates, real estates will have some long term rentals for a few weeks under their holiday listings. Plenty of 6 to12 month rentals available when you are ready to settle in a particular place. All those areas you are looking at are great!
  22. Seeking new girlfriends for coffee etc... Ideally 40 plus, must like animals and enjoy cinema, maybe horse riding and beach. I am happily married with my children grown up. Working full time but always time for friends living near mooloolaba area. Please pm me if you have room for a new pal!
  23. Most agents charge maximum allowed in qld. Go gecko are cheaper but may not have a branch near you. Link realty.com.au are cheaper too but based on Sunshine Coast.
  24. Looking back having been here 9 years I wouldn't have come had I known what would follow. Work wise and lifestyle it's been great but you get over the weather and humidity in Qld. It's not a cheaper place to live than uk now either. If you are in a regional area health care can be really hard if you get cancer which is did. Your kids can end up wanting to go back to uk or move interstate and you end up with a split family. It's not greener here and sometimes blighty isn't as bad as you think, choose carefully.
