  1. Thanks Wkd, I applied on the 25th of June, so I can't imagine you're far behind
  2. Partner Visa Subclass 100 granted today, one of the happiest days of my life. I was actually dreading coming on here to tell you all in case Nollie's hadn't been granted! Congratulations!
  3. End of June will have seen a large influx of applicants before the price of the visa increased I am guessing, so I can foresee a delay. I just wanna live with my bub again!
  4. Hi! I applied on 28th June 2015, CO is LC, Police Checks and Medical done in November. Hoping for a quick grant. I was contacted by my CO with two questions in August: "Please state why you and your partner have chosen to live apart" See below "Please state why the applicant wasn't included on the secondary applicant's earlier PR application" - I wish we had known we could! My girlfriend and I met in 2010, lived together for a year in Aus. Then I had to go home to finish my degree. Then I came back on a WHV to try and secure full-time employment after completing my degree, no such luck. Back home again to the UK and here I have been working for 2 and a half years while she secured her visa and I could then apply as her de-facto. So been an item for 5 years, lived together for 2. We spend every day of annual leave together. (which is expensive when you live 10,000 miles away from each other) Not saying that people's three months apart from each other while you wait for a visa isn't tough, it's all relative, but try 3 years of involuntary separation. : ) It's coming to an end now and just shows that if it's meant to be it will be. Cheers, J
  5. Hello all! I was wondering what the requirements were for a secondary applicant on the Skilled Graduate Visa? I have read the IMMI site and it seems to say that the secondary applicant also needs to have been a student. However, that seems a little strange. Is this the case or am I reading it wrong? Thanks guys! James
  6. Thankyou for your response! I suppose it's all I can do to try! I suppose nobody will really know how the system will work until after a few months of it in operation! I will try and get my IELTS and skills assessment ASAP!
  7. I just noticed the pass mark for points test has been dropped to 60 for the 189 visa. Let me do some maths: I am 22: For my sins I get 25 points I will get superior score on IELTS: 20 points (I'm not trying to boast, I am just fairly confident I will with enough revision) Now here is the contentious one. If you have a Bachelors or Masters: 15 points. It then goes on to say: "The authority that conducts your skills assessment will determine whether any qualifications earned outside Australia are of a standard that is comparable to the relevant Australian qualification." Sorry once again, but assuming my qualifications assessment is approved, this means I have 60 points right? I read that the Australian Study and Work Experience Requirements were dropped so that now it is done on points. I am literally back flipping around my apartment in excitement should this be the case. Please could somebody reply and shatter my dreams with some cold hard logic? Thanks very much for your help! James EDIT: I should mention that my chosen profession of Auditor (External) or Accountant(General) are both on "the list"
  8. Hello everybody, I'd like some advice. I came to Melbourne on a university exchange program from 2010 to 2011. I fell in love with the country (and a girl) so I completed my degree in Economics and Accounting and moved back over. The issue for me is that I came over here on a WHV which grants me very little opportunities in the way of professional employment but it really was the only way. I've done a lot of research into the visas and I am going to have my degree assessed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, but first I have to do my IELTS. My girlfriend is not Australian so the de-facto visa route is out as well. Does anybody have any advice or leads about finding employment as an accountant or auditor in Australia as a graduate with no experience? I know that given the opportunity I'd be fantastic at the job, but employer is always gonna employ the guy with PR/Citizenship. Also any advice on paths to PR would be really appreciated! Thanks guys, this is a very helpful forum! James
  9. Thanks so much for all your help guys! I think the Working Holiday Visa is probably going to be my best option Having looked at the SOL accountant (general) and both internal and external auditors seem to commonly be in demand so I should be OK for that! I am hoping having done a Masters and what was final year courses for students in Australia when I went over is going to be enough to prove to them that I am employable I have a job offer for a large accounting firm which makes the whole thing so much more frustrating! And who knows maybe my lovely lady can get her PR sorted!
  10. Sorry I should have said, it's in Economics and Accounting.
  11. Hello there! A little background: I was offered the chance to take my third year at uni at The University of Melbourne. I was there for a whole year and long story short, I fell I love with the country, and maybe a girl as well! Now I am looking to make a permanent transition from the UK to Australia to work in the Internal Audit sector. I am in my final year at university, studying a Masters in Economics and Accounting with a job offer from BDO UK. My situation is this. I would love to come to Australia but I want to know how to go about making the move? My girlfriend is Malaysian and is also trying to get a Permanent Residency so that is not an option. Does anybody know of some accounting firms which might offer sponsorship for their graduate positions? They all seem to require PR! Another Visa I looked at was the temporary residence for a recognised overseas institution. However the immi site seems to suggest this is only for engineers! Is this the case? If not, how do I go about seeing if my university is recognised? Thanks so much for your help in advance!
