  1. hehe not the herald sun, isnt that whole rag satire? a few days back they were suggesting people buy into mining asset's that most of the worlds large banks and financial institutions confirm are massively overvalued and in structural decline. i would guess the average IQ of a herald sun reader is not likely to dig deeper, and as such are probably likely to be in a lower economic bracket. are these really the people who can afford to throw cash at a dying industry to prop up the 1%'s profits? seems like exploitation to me.
  2. rip em all, put them on a HDD and bring the HDD in your hand luggage, on most flights you are allowed hand luggage AND a laptop bag each. it'd almost be rude not to just make sure when you rip them that you keep the surround soundtrack. most players will down sample surround to stereo if you only play on the TV. if however you play stereo in a reasonable surround system it will leave you disappointed. for players try Kodi (XBMC) http://kodi.tv/ (open source and free), plex https://plex.tv/ad/getstarted (free but some functions cost) may also be worth a look. once you have all your media in one convenient place with trailers on tap and a jukebox style interface, having boxes all over the show seems so archaic! hard drives are super cheap, the player wont cost you more than a couple of hundred bucks (for a good one fast chip, dedicated graphics and lots of ram) no brainer IMHO.
  3. I agree with one caveat, you should only be allowed an automatic pass if you speak pama-nyungan or other indigenous Australian languages. It's the respectful thing to do, we admitted we were wrong as a people & apologized, lets prove it
  4. no problem in Australia, the emission standards here are so low VW are fine. hey it could mean we all get a cheap euro cast off.
  5. politicians in all published media required to print their form. how many promises how many delivered how many lies etc like the way we do with sports players. hmm..... probably best to enforce this worldwide actually lol
  6. ahhh, comedy aussie housing, my fave subject lol one thing of note here i heard recently.. not sure if its good news or not lol it seems in most parts of australia it is now cheaper to heat your house with a reverse cycle air conditioner than it is to use gas. 2 reasons for this, gas can be sold abroad for loads, so the companies are jacking up domestic prices (nice of them huh ) and a split system air con is full cycle about 300-400% efficient (heat pump), where as gas is rarely as good as 60% efficient and a lot less than that if ducted (ducts are shite and typically lose 1deg per M of duct)
  7. the good news is you're right the bad news is you're right about your missus being right hmmmmm
  8. when we flew on the 380 cattle class downstairs i recall it being awful. to put this in context, i always travel with earplugs eye cover and slippers (its the only way ) the thing is the seats. I sleep on my side, i just cannot seem to get comfortable sleeping on my back. most cattle class seats will allow you to squidge around a bit to get comfy, but these singapore 380 seats just didnt agree with me. the aircraft is a marvel, but when you travel long haul its all about comfort, good stuff to watch and half decent grub. this is the only flight i have ever failed to sleep. I'd try the 777, just for the experience. just to add, the ear plugs (available from the stewardesses if need be) eye patch and slippers (or thick socks) and a fleece style jacket with a reasonable collar that can be folded up are well worth it. in my many flights these are the bare minimum cabin survival kit i would recommend
  9. only visited but love the place, and seems way ahead of the rest of aus with the renewables thing too. if i could convince the minister for war and finance i'd move there in a heartbeat
  10. http://www.9news.com.au/National/2015/09/18/10/59/Scott-Morrison-reveals-Tony-Abbott-offered-him-Treasurer-role-during-bizarre-radio-interview decent folk these politicians. poli - (greek) many tics - blood sucking creatures.
  11. im more of the thought that it was always part of the plan. the press and public need to feel they did it, that's part of the plan too.
  12. abbotts got his pension, the opportunity's there for another to get a pension too. what could possibly be wrong with that?
  13. as one of the people on here who was keen to see the back of him i have to admit in hindsight i wish he'd stayed. thing is he was a mouthpiece for a party, a party who did unspeakable evil things. that party now has the opportunity to paint itself in a better light, it would have been best for them not to have that chance. I hope the public remember, but i know they wont. same bucket, same contents but with the chance to roll it in glitter. its a shame.
  14. hope so! to be brief...... inhumane.... paying backwards industry to pollute..... not in australia's long term interests in that order hmmm, in hindsight i hope he doesn't do these things, we need this shower of **** government out!
  15. the choice.... replace tony, he's destroying Australia support tony, he's destroying the LNP im starting to think maybe he should have stayed....
  16. where can i get some fireworks? shame the party is still in, id guess hes just a figurehead. time will tell.....
  17. sadly coke is the equivalent of hydrogen as a fuel, all of the damage has been done before it's sold to you and i. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coke_(fuel) i agree coal should be left, it is from a bygone era. if any of you happen to see the boy abbott could you tell him, he seems to think risking our countries wealth on coal is the way to go. might be an idea to explain structural decline to the poor simple fellow too.
  18. Australia 0.2% growth Greece, yer that Greece 0.8% growth. im sure things will sort themselves out, coal will pick up soon and this will all be forgotten. its good for humanity don't you know......
  19. When you next pondering a post about migrants being scum, parasites, swarm of thieves etc. look at this father with his child escaping from Syria and imagine looking him in the eye and pushing his boat back out to sea...
  20. im afraid i don't have the complete answer to your current issue however i would urge you not to apply for any more credit until you have the complete picture. failed credit applications go on your file and will make it even harder to get credit even when you have the things a lending organisation needs.
