  1. Hey Kymmbo, my wife and I along with our two daughters (2yrs and 6yrs) have been here since beginning of Feb. We have family about an hour down the coast but decided for us we'd like to be up on the Sunny Coast so we settled in Pelican Waters/Caloundra. We are loving the way of life up here and are doing so much now compared to the UK, it's great, especially for the girls. We are getting out and about all the time and are finding new things each week. How has it all gone for you guys and are you well settled now in the Caloundra area?

Hi Andy, I hope you don't mind me asking, but on what grounds did they decline the visa?
  3. Hey Geordie Joe, This may seem a strange question, but following on from my previous post, and now knowing you're in the situation I was interested in of being on an e600 whilst having active 143 application..... Can I please ask if you have access to reciprocal Medicare arrangements whilst you spend time in Aus on the e600? Were you able to enrol in Medicare, and that having the active 143 application didn't affect this.
  4. Hey Joe, many thanks for the reply. Can I ask; - Did you get asked to undergo a medical when applying for the E600? - How long did the E600 take to be granted? - Couls you clarify what the other further stay decalaration means. Does it mean if you were there for 12 months on the E600 and then the 143 was granted, then you would not be able to enter Aus for 6 months? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hello again folks... similar theme to my post from a moment ago, but different question... Those of you that have applied for a CPV-143 and have then also applied to have a 12 month e600 so you can travel out as a visitor whilst you wait for your CPV-143.... I'm interested to know what the process was like getting the e600. Was the application easy and did having the cpv-143 underway make it an issue in any way? All opinions and thoughts welcomed.
  6. Hello fellow CPV-143 applicants/holders. Here is a question that I want to put out to the community, and also hoping that Alan from GM may add some value also. When in the waiting room on a 143 application, if we were to travel to Aus on a 12 month e600 visa or a short 3 month travel visa, then if IMMI were to call us for our medicals for the 143 application whilst we were on-shore in Aus, then are we allowed to have our medicals done on-shore in Aus whilst there, or would we be expected to travel back to the UK to have them done. I know that we need to be off-shore to have the 143 granted, but it's the medicals I'm interested to know if it matters whether you are on-shore and have them there. Any input gratefully appreciated.
  7. We are a family of 4 flying out as well in February with SIA, and I can confirm what others are saying, which is that SIA will honour the extra 10kg per ticket upon check in as long as the VISA you are using to fly on has never been validated before (i.e. You have not yet entered Aus with that VISA). I emailed the UK support centre and got a very fast email reply back with all the details. They also confirmed there would be no item limit imposed, so we could take as many cases, boxes, etc... as we wanted as along as the total weight limits were not exceeded per ticket. Best of luck with the upcoming move.
  8. Good post... I'll be interesting to see the responses, as we're moving to Sunshine Coast in Feb, and have also been looking at the details of Kawana Waters and Mountain Creek school - although we'd be wanting the Primary side.
  9. Have you investigated around the Mooloolaba area... there are lovely coffee shops and eateries right on the front there, not to mention some amazing coastlines, and some great fresh fish restaurants/take-away places. Loads of the regular things too like Woolies, Coles, big outlets etc... Mountain Creek is another nice area, but more residential, but easy access to all the above.
  10. You could check the status of your VISA via the VEVO system; https://online.immi.gov.au/evo/firstParty?actionType=query
  11. Assuming you are referring to applying for a 189 GSM VISA then no, you don't have to work in the nominated occupation that got you the visa. You could in theory never work a day again once you arrive - though this is clearly unpractical and not advisable - unless you're a secret millionaire (in which case you probably wouldn't be going the GSM route any way)! If it's not a 189 you're referring to, then there are various reasons, that aren't worth expanding on here, as to why you'd need to work in the job you nominated for a certain amount of time (i.e. if you were going for an employer sponsored based visa).
  12. Once the VISA is granted then you will have to activate it within 12 months from the earliest of the date of the Medical or the Police Checks. By activate, it means you must enter Australia. You are then free, in theory, to leave again immediately if you really needed/wanted to, although that would not usually be necessary as you'd be moving there and then potentially.
  13. How do spend Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and have what you do on these days altered much or at all since emigrating to Aus...?
  14. No I have never uploaded, emailed, sent, or otherwise shared my CV with any body in relation my skills assessment or Visa application. It simply has not been relevant for me to do so.
  15. I did not have to submit payslips to ACS as part of my skills assessment. I only had to submit my employer reference letter along with my (huge) Report of Prior Learning essay. I then uploaded the same to IMMI after applying and paying VAC. I chose to upload the payslips myself just to ensure that the CO could see I was still in full time employment with the same employer. I didn't do 17 years worth though.. just the last 3 pay periods. Can't speak for all, but all worked out fine for me as I got a Direct grant.
