1. Hi, From what I know you will only be able to secure a short term (holiday) rental before you arrive, then you need 100 points on the ID front to be able to secure a long term rental. A bank account passport and drivers licence along with some utility bills will do the trick for the ID. We are traveling at the end of December and we have got a holiday/short term rental for 1 month and hopefully in that time we will have got a 6 to 12 month rental, if not we will get another short term at a lot lower rate than the holiday season rate we have paid now.
  2. In the Uk I have a full licence, and also a full bike licence, on my car licence I can drive numerous vehicles including 7.5 ton & trailer etc (yes one of the older licences) when I change it over in Oz will I also get the same categories on.? I have had a search and looked on the WA drivers website with no luck in finding an answer.
  3. Get your bloody hair cut hippie (40 and bald )
  4. Im a time server fabricator like you, I have a 176 visa and we are arriving in Perth on the 31st of December. We have booked a holiday rental for a month so I am hoping we can find something more perm when we get there. Being time served I did not have any college behind me and I was told that the rules changed last July and after that you would have needed to have served an apprenticeship , Im not 100% on that it is just what one immigration agent told me. Well after starting this a year and a half ago we have had our visa since April and I will post what the job front is like for us fabricators when we het there.
  5. Did you loose your wallet or something!! "I took my wife and son out for a decent meal for lunch the other week. $600 for 3 and none of us were drinking."
  6. List them all, describe a few. The more info the better here.

  11. You dont mention your age or anything, im sure that if you were older these types of jokes would not happen.
  12. Does anyone use mobile broadband in or around Rockingham, we are looking at our 1st rental there and the house doesn't come with a internet connection so we were thinking of mobile broadband. We would like to be able to Skype but at most be able to hold a chat conversation with family in the UK and send and recieve a few pictures. Any help or recommendations would be great

SteveF8. Looks like they had your pants down mate! the best price I got was £750 for a return only marginally more than a 1 way. I was going to book returns but I thought that would have been a bit of a negative vibe.

Seams a bit steep to me but I have only been looking for flights to Perth, which I would have though to be more than flights to Brissi. Are they charging you for the baby?

Got the flights booked now, Singapore airlines, 40kg baggage each, 2 nights in a Singapore hotel (just because we can) and then onto Perth, all for £1600, best price I had in 5 days of phoning and internet searching. I used Net Flights in the end and the bloke who dealt with us was ace, Alan was his name would recommend them to anyone else.
  18. Flights have just been booked for the 27th of December, 2 nights in Singapore to break the travel up for 2 people £1600 inc. hotel. Perth for new years eve, anyone already there or planning on being there by this date if you fancy letting in the new year in our new country we would love to meet some new friends.:arghh:

Hi Bob,

Thank you for the call the other day, can I just ask.. I have had a quote from another company that as far as I can see has great reviews just as your company does, but they are doing more of the leg/paper work than I was quoted from you but they are £1000 cheeper.

Am I missing something here, the process seams quite straight forward and I would complete it all myself if it wasn't for the airlines not taking booking from people without an account with them. A £1000 is a lot of difference between prices, im sure you would agree.

No not tried that option, I was waiting until closer to the time to open a bank account but we were worried about flights selling out over xmas, we have to validate the visa before the 5th Jan 2013. so I will look into what bank accounts can offer. Who did you open your account with if I may ask.

Where do some of these firms pull their prices from a bloody top hat, Malaysia airlines are asking for £3000+ for a 1 way flight from the Uk to Perth.
  23. Cheers for that Bobj, not having done much (any) sea fishing before though and that being my intended hunting ground I think I may leave the old course fishing tacke box at home and start a fresh when I arrive, nice site though maybe just maybe I might find a fishing buddy so I can leave out lass sunbathing or whatever women do. lol

Thanks for the heads up, looking at the seat guru I notice that only PE has laptop power though and I think I may need the power to be stuck on a plane for that duration.
  25. Can anyone recommend what tackle I should take with me, I have mainly course fishing gear and fly, 1 beach caster and real. What wil I need in my tackle box to get some tucker on my plate.
