Hi I am 5 points short of being able to get a 190 visa, do I take the IELTS test I would only need a score of 7, has anybody done it? Is it easy to get a score of 7? Or do I just apply for the 489 visa which I have enough points for already, but am a bit concerned about the working restrictions on the 489 as I might want to work in a FIFO job would this cause a problem Thanks for any help you can give me Craig

Hi Marine Thanks for taking the time to reply to me you have been very helpful, I know what your husband means about the company sponsored visa but my concern about coming on a state sponsor is I will be bringing the wife and two children with me 7 & 4 and coming without a job and a place to live lined up seems a little scary! But it would open up my job options!! Did you use an agent to sort your WA state visa or did you do it alone? And how long did it take? Cheers Craig

Thanks Marine That is one thing that isn't ideal being a welder in that heat (might be better cleaning pools ) but that is my trade and if it gets me out there with decent work I won't complain, do you find you can manage ok on the wages being paid for a welder? Or would I really need to go to the mines for decent money? Do I search for a company sponsor visa which is less of a gamble as the job is there, or take a gamble go for the skilled 190 visa and fingers crossed for a job on arrival??? Cheers Craig

Good luck with getting a placement soon and hope it all works out for you, please keep me informed how you get on, don't know if the wife will be to happy about me going for 3 moths first might never see me again!! Hi I am a time severed metal fabricator/welder with 22yrs experience, does anybody know what the job prospects are in my line of work in Perth? and if there are any companies that might do a sponsored visa? Cheers Craig
