  1. Applied speculatively via a company that operates in my sponsored state. A position came up in another state and they asked me if I would be interested.
  2. Principle being that if offered a visa via a 176 state sponsorship then you should fulfil the obligation of staying and working there for the first 2 years.
  3. Been offered a job in another state that is not the 176 sponsoring one. Trouble is that the position is a once in a lifetime opportunity - $***,*** plus truck and other perks. Out of principles I don't want to take it, but maybe that would be foolish. Please vote.
  4. If you buy and leave in the package you are running the risk that they may be faulty when opened a year later and you will have no guarantee. It wouldn't be the first time that a supposedly new item is faulty.
  5. If you get offered a truck as part of your salary - how much is taken off per annum for this. 4x4 similar to a double cab toyota hilux, white with company logo etc...
  6. Maybe for excess cover. When I picked up my car last summer they tried to fob this off to me, I told them to stroll on.
  7. The beginning of the downward spiral for the Grand Olde UK...
  8. The 457 visa will be employer sponsored - so they will have you by the b@lls so to speak. $30 p/hr is not very much for OZ either. But at the end of the day at least you've got options...
  9. Know the right hand shake and it will be fine. :biglaugh:

    OZ or UK?

Now that I have got the hang of this poll thing, here's another one. Should compliment all this negativity that seems to be one here at the moment. :biglaugh: Poll - Where you would rather be atm?
  12. Sorry to sound negative, but if I had applied for over 1000 positions and had no success, I would be questioning my CV, cover letter and almost everything else. It is easy to fire CV's off like a loose canon, but to tailor them strategically for a position will probably work better. Also think of the time this has taken - like you said it maybe because you are not in Oz. Think of it as role reversal If you had your own business and had an opening to fill, would you consider someone from Australia who has the rights to live in the UK or would you choose a local person who may not be as good on paper but you will get to see them in person?
  13. Saw this article today what do you think, should they be kicked out? http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/4805246/Scots-get-marching-orders-for-blunder-down-under.html
  14. I would not spend the next two years trying to obtain experience and qualifications just for immigration purposes. The skills list changes all the time and skilled occupations do get removed. So you could find yourself short in two years time. The probationary period does count towards your experience as long as you are working more than part time. Regional sponsored visa only ties you to that state, you can work in any capacity. Teaching is just as hard if not harder to find work than the UK, especially if you have no networks in OZ. If you are under 30, then get a WHV and get yourself out here, see the land and decide if it is for you.

  16. Rather discriminary comment is it not?
  17. I am just in the fortunate position to have a profession that has always been in demand all over the world. Job pays well but like any other has its drawbacks of being away from home for long periods. Not everyones cup of tea or marmite sandwich .
  18. My occupation is highly unionised in Australia, the salaries are fixed. It is not unionised in the UK. To answer your question I have been offered a position in OZ, there are many jobs in my occupation.
  19. If I never had any ties to OZ then I wouldn't move. Ties being a good job offer or friends and family. I just would not up heave everything and move to the other side of the world. I just don't understand why people would move with no network at all. The only way I can understand this is on a WHV, when a person has little or no baggage. I would either aim to either buy a house on the med somewhere or go more holidays if it was sunny weather I wanted. At the end of the day there is plenty of clever marketing going on about immigrating to OZ and lots of money to be made in this process.
  20. My position in the UK offers a salary in the region of £42000+ in OZ my occupation starts at $175,000+
  21. Employed in Perth you earn 2-3 times more than in London.
  22. Don't know what is the majority now, problem is nothing really surprises me when it comes to things like this. I know of a lady (struggle use that word for this person), that has 4 kids each to different fathers. Her kids are wild and always causing trouble in school. One of her kids was diagnosed with ADHD and put on medication to aid their condition. Since then she has tried to get every one of her kids, diagnosed as she has now discovered she can claim disability benefits. She was also moved from a 3 bedroom victorian style flat (in a nice area) to a 5 bedroom house worth over £260,000 (I know because neighbours are selling up, since she moved in). The average price of a house in the town is probably around £180,000 if you are lucky. She has never worked a day in her life and is not a very pleasant person to talk to - every second worse is a curse, even when she speaks to her kids. I know that this is an extreme case, but I am sure it happens in more places than my home town, even in OZ.

    If 1%...

At no point did I say it has an 'open doors' policy. It is a speculative post not factual... Tell me why 1% is absurd? In terms of percentage how many Brits move out of the UK each year? Cameron is tightening the student visa policy - my place of work has just doubled the amount of classes from last year - that is fact.

    If 1%...

The UK is still one of the top countries for people to choose to migrate to - so it will have an attraction to people living in India. Migrants from India can be in the form of wealthy people, students, skilled and professional workers. There are many reason why they would choose to come to the UK. I for one have been to India, worked there and have seen the massive divide between classes. I have been in cities that are probably second only to London's size in the UK, but most of the people on here have never even heard of them. I have also worked with many people from India, and get along well with them and admire their strive to learn. The college I work in has ties to several colleges in India and they come to the UK for training - in my work environment they put the UK student to shame when it comes to commitment of academic studies. They value our education system and want to study under it, most of the students also want to stay in the UK after completing their studies. To summarise; The post was posted to highlight if the UK being a significantly smaller country in terms of size and population could cope with an open doors policy with a larger developing country in terms of migration.
