  1. Hi my name is also Jill and we have 3 daughters 24 19 18 two of which live with us in upper coomera if you'd like to meet up let us know
  2. Aaron, yes it is a worry as every job on-line says must have licence etc. You will deffo need low voltage / cpr coarse $80.00 and white construction card ( you can do that on-line for $49.00 the company i used was http://www.eot.edu.au ) you should be able to do that in uk and you don't pay till you pass but to be honest you can't really fail as all info is there. I think there's a lot of work but as any where you need a little luck or know someone especially on the bigger jobs
  3. I get the impression with the mines that there is not many 2 on 2 off rotas, but the guys i work with got laid off before Christmas. There are jobs there and another spark i work with goes end of Jan 4 weeks on i week off 6 days a week 12 hours a day + takes 1 and a half hours to get to the site but you can earn the money. All my work is from surfers up to Brissy and i get picked up and dropped off so all good at the moment.
  4. Thanks for the reply's. I am working as a spark $38.00 an hour mainly domestic but pretty easy to pick up just different names for things but the work is full on quick break and that's it but the day fly's by. Couple of other new starters just back from the QLD mines earned $180000 last year me thinks i need to get all qualifications as soon as, i am working on a training permit and will ring TAFE tomorrow about courses etc, paid my own lv rescue and cpr course and did white card online all pretty straight forward. Funny i submitted cv to about 20 company's online ( nothing ) first job i rang i got.
  5. Managed to start work yesterday and all ready doing Saturday this week but moving forward i would like to get the AS standard wiring regs any sparks know where i could get them cheap or get a copy any help would be great.
  6. Finally arrived after 6 long years in the process, i have sorted qld driving licence, white card and am just waiting on provisional licence. I am sure any fellow sparks will know its not that easy just to walk into a job but if anyone has any info please contact me.
  7. I have a quote from George Baker shipping to have a single use 20ft container for my long wheel base van which means all my tools racking etc can stay in and i can load up on a few bits. 2 things it seems to cheap and secondly i am going to take a box of crisps, Colemans mustard, pot noodles, chocolate etc and will put it on the declaration form. Some people say don't but i have posted various boxes to my wife and daughters with food items with absolutely no problems. Any thoughts ?
  8. It's been 6 years in getting to this stage, my wife and 2 of our 3 daughters are already in Queensland while i am just waiting for approval for my van which i have now got and is being shipped on the 26th of November. I currently work as a electrical contractor and Monday have to go through the process of telling my customers that i am leaving. That's the bit i am not looking forward to.
  9. I will be bringing my van with me when we make the move in the next couple of months, whats the best way to have it cleaned ? is there any place at the point of departure that offer this service or would it be best just to do it myself.
  10. Does anyone no if you can ship candles over as one shipping company said you can't because of beeswax but most candles have paraffin wax in them ?
  11. Were thinking of taking a 40ft container, but as all the extra space we use on a 40ft for beds draws kids desks etc, would it be better just to get a 20ft container and buy new with the money we save on the cost of a larger container. Any answers welcome.
  12. Does anyone know whether we can send any prescription medication over to our daughter who is doing a bit of back packing before the big move.
  13. Call me sad but i would just have to finish the work contracts we have and leave on a good note just in-case it doesn't work out in oz
  14. Can you ship the gas for a gas barbecue or do you need different fittings etc in oz to be able to connect up, also can you ship these small cooking type gas torches.
  15. Thanks for that, perhaps i didn't explain it the right way i meant when we move there next year and then come say october 2015 we wish to come back for a holiday would we then apply for a returning residence visa and if so is it a designated time period ie 6 months
